But honestly, that seems to be the case. Same thing happened when Darth and others got banned for no reason. Enough bitching and talking about it (and ticket spam) made them reverse it. Hope it happens now, too cause I really don't want to turn to the dark side.

Just logged in to see if my money was wiped as well - and yup, I've lost a little bit over 600k$, all legitimate. I mean, of course I've been selling blue and yellow Sentinels during my first weeks, and then doing I/E in solo public sessions (due to cheater-griefer plague on PCs), but overall, never cheated, never used any duping glitches or exploits. RGSC stats say I've earned ~97% via missions, and about 2.3% thanks to selling vehicles (that's exactly 1M$ if anyone wonders).

 

Never had any money wiping experiences, and I've reported every single case of money bags being dropped on my head, which in total gave me maybe 100k$. Where did this 600k came from then? I have no slightest clue.

I'll request a ticket to see what's going on. Well, at least they didn't wipe all of my savings - I still have about 24M$, so I'm set either way.

You did NOT get wiped for selling in a solo public session. It's perfectly legal in-game wise, and plus, R* has added the script which will spawn blue Sultan RS'es after ya' if you sell in a solo session. Would be odd to add that script if R* thought solo sessions would be cheating.

 

So, for my guess, I really think it's completely random, and happens a lot on PC.

Just happened to me too. Didn't take a screenshot but they removed over 8 mil from my acc and in 3 years that I'm playing this game I have only once received modded money (1.25mil) and it was removed a few weeks after that. Everything else was completely legit, I have been grinding my ass off for the past few weeks only to lose 8 mil right before the dlc drops, for no other reason than R being incompetent.

Notice how he ranted about the extreme scenario of OP being a liar who actually had modded money and did this to get sympathized? Notice how he bitched and moaned about people not liking Rockstar for every single thing they do?

 

Now, take a look at when he starts talking about the chance of OP being honest about his removed cash being legit. It's an indirect way of saying "no biggie, Rockstar makes a few mistakes every now and then." like all apologists do.
