I think it's important to remember that everyone is different, and although GTA has progressed a lot and become more difficult with the growing community of intense players, not everyone is going to go about the game the same. Those that get discouraged by a bit of work and effort that's needed to get anywhere on GTA Online won't last long. Obviously the game isn't for them.

But those who are actually into the game and can enjoy some adversity and grinding in GTA are obviously going to thrive. Just because whine ass johnny doesn't like actually playing to get rich definitely does not mean things should be handed to him or made easier. We all started at rank 0, worked for our first super car, first luxury apartment, first business etc. Go buy a shark card if you refuse to put in effort. It wouldn't be fair to those who busted their ass to get what they earned, only to have the game made easier for lazy players. It's a slap in the face.

And actually, it is so much easier to make money now than it was when GTA online first came out. That's when I started, in the PS3 days. We didn't have any businesses, adversary modes or heists. Very rarely Rockstar had x2 $ and RP on the missions. We made our money by grinding missions, races, survivals and random events in freemode like crate drops. And the payouts have barely changed since then, it took forever to save for things. Newer players now are lucky, they have so many options to make money, and they should have to work for those businesses and luxury items too. No one is being forced to buy shark cards by Rockstar, that is complete BS. Everything can be obtained just by playing. When the heists came out, if you wanted to buy the exclusive vehicles from those heist setups like the armoured kuruma or insurgent or hydra, you had to successfully complete those heists to unlock them, and they were very challenging back then. Rockstar just changed it back in March to be available for everyone for purchase, unlocking no longer required. Not only did it take away the accomplishment of those who unlocked it, but it also allowed little try-hard johnny to buy a hydra at rank 50, who would then go on to grief freemode sessions constantly. If you are concerned about newer players, help them.

I really dont think it's that bad. I was an OG player with over $200M and pretty much all the stuff you can buy, on two characters. Then i started a new character a couple months ago and already i am rank 160, have $20M in the bank, all 7 property slots full, tons of cars, office, vehicle warehouse, bunker, MOC, hydra, buzzard, and tons of other goodies i can't even think of right now.

All you really need to do is get $1M, (or the cheapest office) run vip missions using rented buzzards if needed until you can afford a buzzard, then finally a vehicle warehouse. Then you can make $300k per hour pretty easily and consistently, which is about 3 times what i could make back in the day when contact missions were the best option.

I do agree it's annoying how overpriced the new content is though.

Yeh but games shouldnt be a lot of work. That's the point, and you can cheat or buy a ton of shirk cards (weak pun). Its far more work for newbs than there was 2 years ago.

Any game worth playing includes a lot of work to get to the top. Theres no personal satisfaction gained from not earning something. For me anyway, this is true.

But just go ahead and lament the fate of new arrivals. And ignore the statements made by us new players as to how easy this game is.

The struggle for new players would be knowing where the f*ck to start!

My mate has just got GTAV for PS4 and completed SP then ventured into MP.

I have to write him up a basic "here's how to get started" guide because he was so confused about everything and how it works.

He whatsapp'd me yesterday asking what the Smuggler's Run advert was for. He even thought you had to buy the DLCs.

It feels like rock has forced new players to drop literally $300 of shark cards, while they're on sale.

While I don't agree that R* is "forcing" anyone to spend money, your comment is certainly poignant.

New players face an inordinate challenge in trying to get headway in this game.

The game is so old now, that new players are rare and relegated to pre-schoolers and tweens trying to catch up to cool.

According to some sources, there's a 2017 MoneyWipe™ in effect, which is going to put veteran players in the precarious position of "do I buy shark cards or just quit?"

Either way, it's a game. There are better ways to spend money in real life. ;)

Oh, please. Getting money as a new player was never easier as it is now, and last two updates successfully killed any reason to actually play the game, since you can skip the poor newbie stage almost entirely. If I remember, VIP status is now available to anyone who has 50k$ on their maze Bank account, instead of 1 million. That means you can complete the tutorial, sell a car at LSC, do 4-5 contact missions and/or flying school lessons, and begin grinding Sightseer and Headhunter (although the latter may be somewhat difficult without a weapon and proper vehicle).

... That costs 195.000 and is called Carbonizzare, it's basically a Kuruma against NPCs, but it's kind of open secret even on the forums. And if this newbie can find a returning player friend who can link his account for 10 mins, he's immediately driving off in his brand new Duke o Death.

As a day one player I can't stand this BS how hard it is for a newbies, it's not even remotely true. Yes, there are more expensive toys to buy in comparison with 2013 era, but it's easier:

  • VIP is limited to 50k now;
  • More variety in contact missions with better average payouts. Yes, RR and TLSC were more profitable back in the days, but now you're talking about average 13-15 payouts for basically any missions you're doing. Defender, for example, is a good one because Buzzards are provided and it's zero expenses to complete it;
  • For a 3 mil you can easily purchase a money printing machine aka IE business, that will net you 80k profits for 10-15 mins work. That's a solid buy in for a newbie, but the reward is so lucrative that even vets are still relying on these payouts;
  • Non level restricted guns are available for anyone, some of them are good enough to be used by vets. Nowadays, for a solid 100k you can equip a rank 5 with assault rifle, solid full auto pistol and a pretty neat shotgun. Maybe even throw in that Marksman rifle too, not sure about the price. Point is, back in 2013 there was no options like that;
  • Bodyguard jobs. Joining a friendly crew doing ceo stuff may net a newcomer 5,000 every 15 mins and 200RP per minute.
I created a brand new PSN account and social club ID so I could actually try a new character from scratch.

No problem making cash. Hit 50k in an hour and became a VIP then did executive search, sightseer and, using a Buzzard I found at the airport, head Hunter. Within another hour I was at 250k.

I wish it was this easy in 2013 where I would grind for days to hit 100k and owning an Adder was a distant ny unattainable dream.

Newbies got it easy man.

The game is 4 years old. If they didnt bother to find out what the game is about first before playing or reading the reviews then I have zero sympathy to any newbs.

Honestly these PITY threads arent doing them any favors

Check the recruitment thread or do some research into finding a crew. Find a bunch of mature people who enjoy the game, put some effort into them and they'll put some effort into you.

New players have a chance to escape the flawed money grinding mentality and actually enjoy the game.

Personally, I have all the expensive toys, but I would say that you don't need to grind 150 mil in order to have fun in the game.

Well, new players (rank 98)on Xbox one all seem to now have the oppressor and explosive sniper. Got to thank all those douches on YouTube who make exploit videos for that one.

Well I started last month and I'm on level 103 with K/D 1.49. First two weeks, I was miserable. Getting killed in free roams like crazy. K/D was 0.32 I remember. I didn't buy any sharkcards so money was a big problem for me. No one could let me join in contact missions until I A group let me do missions with them. I think I jumped about 10 ranks that day. Got kuruma, grinded contact missions..did a few heists setups and I was a proud owner of CEO office and an I/E warehouse.

They just need to be friendly. I've tried a few times to help out new players but they just make it difficult. So I've given up trying now.

SmokesWithCigs

i created a new second character days ago. i did ceo and import work for some friends this morning selling cars, fetching supplies for bunkers and biker buisnesses. stealing cars and selling gun stock. i'm at level 25 now. doing these things gave me a lot of rp and cash. if new comers are smart enough to work as associates after gaining some basic experience they should do well.

I'm a legit player player as well, started my second character back in '15 (which is now lvl-637) and have everything a LS tycoon could ever wish for... I think the most important thing one could aim for when first joining the game, is to find and make friends who play regularly... As it allows them to have not only have some backup when being trolled by others, but far more importantly, have serious help when resupplying those all too important business supplies and export cars.

I do feel for those who are literally starting now though, as they are getting wrecked by the all too numerous weapons at our disposal, but hey, I guess that's just how the cookie crumbles at this point in GTA-5's life.
