I'm getting decent with the bombs, it's surprising for me since I didn't had much faith in them at first. The Hangar mission featuring the Hunter to destroy the signal jammers are being the most helpful in improving my bombing skills. I'm now trying to take out enemy NPC cars and targets when appropriate, but homing missiles are still my primary weapon as of now. The Hunter has great potential as a bomber indeed, depending on the pilot.

And speaking of Hangar missions, I've been having a lot of fun with them actually. It's a nice change from all the ground-based action I usually do, and for the most part they are easy enough for a solo player like me.

That one escort mission with the Titan though... well, my solution is taking a P996 Lazer from the military base since they spawn right in front of my hangar and make good use of its cannons. Missiles for some reason doesn't lock on the Buzzards and the mission quickly went from easy in the first couple of times to impossible to complete in my Hunter. The Lazer has proven itself as a savior in this mission, and as a added bonus I'm slowly but steadily getting better at aiming aircraft machine guns.

Bombs seem really random but only they have the raw power to dispatch tanks and APCs

I can imagine an skilled pilot dispatching Khanjalis and APCs by sneaking on them with an Akula or OTR Hunter just high enough to not be readily spotted, and raining hell on them before they can react. It would be a quite satisfying kill in my opinion!

I use the normal bombs, mainly because they were the cheapest but do they have some kind of advantage over others, like raw explosive power or something?

IIRC from GhillieMaster's video, the regular bombs are best for damage+blast radius+blast radius damage. Clusters do more damage but have a significantly smaller blast radius. Incendiary has a slightly smaller blast radius with far less blast radius damage (but it sets sh*t on fire). Gas has a slightly larger blast radius, but the bombs don't actually do any explosive damage, they just slowly kill people who aren't in vehicles they get caught in the gas.

Regular bombs strike the best balance of results.

I recently failed the Titan mission and it turned me off to hanger missions again. I have my Savage heli and the first couple of Buzzards I blow up with the cannon no problem. The next set comes along and I can't hit them at all. Very frustrating.

Solo public session... apparently the player's strong enough to randomly explode the Hunter on bailing. Oops.

Why exactly can't you hit them? When I do that mission usually I just fly in circles behind the Titan so I remain behind it instead of zooming by like it was stopped mid-air. When the Buzzards spawn, I go after them and use a shoot-and-retreat technique, blowing them one by one while always staying behind the Titan. Having a Savage would help me a lot I think, easier to aim and no need to fly in circles just to stay with the Titan.

Landed the tail on a very weak object again without it breaking, I'm a pro. ;)

Also, sound needs to be on for this; but what in the blue hell was that noise for? Never heard it before.

Helicopters sometimes do that when you descend very quickly. I've heard it on the Hunter and Akula.

I guess the game thinks you're crashing, and plays the noise.

All is good, or may be decent enough, but... every damn homing launcher rocket got hit the rear rotor. I dunno what I'm doing wrong, because never was so often with Akula. Though 7 rockets barrage is fun, not a cannon, but still - can't stop using.

whatever, I could live with hunter dying from 1 homing rocket but...

It's quite fair, more logical than missed rocket turning back. Minigun can tear up Lazer just in seconds and you actually need to free aim that with lowest speed of movement and very limited range.

Maybe minigun is not a problem on console, but on PC where aiming is more precise this thing is ridiculous. Just like explosive sniper, it's a counter to everything. I don't care about realism, I care about balance.

Understand, but can't agree, it's suppose to be like that, heavy and powerful. It's actually nothing special, but hail of ordinary bullets in shortest period of time.

I don't know, at least the barrage can reach further than the minigun. You kind of have to wait until they shoot though, so their bullets reveal their location (usually they don't appear on your screen from that far off).

Probably the biggest thing for the Hunter is the explosive sniper.

If I could have anything, I'd say make the engine smoking a little different. Right now, if the engines smoke it's completely finished, and it only takes one sniper shot to make them smoke. I'd say have them smoke separately, with the helicopter only going down after both are smoking. I'd also make them take a few sniper shots before the smoke starts.

Other than that, a bomb sight and buffed bombs would be nice too.

Edit: Being able to use the cannon solo as well, that'd be great. Could make it work like either the Avenger's autopilot, or the Ultralight's aiming system. Either way, you'd be better off with a co-pilot (autopilot would leave you still, Ultralight aiming wouldn't let you zoom in so much) - so it'd work I think.

More weapons all round for Smuggler's Run aircraft would be good. Dedicated anti-air missiles for the Hunter, or TV-guided missiles or something.

That's precisely what I'm whining about - it takes very little skill to put the hunter on a countdown with both explosive sniper and minigun. The explosive sniper is generally a subject for another discussion, it's broken as hell against practically everything that isn't nightshark, moc or avenger.

Yeah, I was going to say, just stay out of their range. The Hunter can strike from much farther than a minigun, so just gain a little altitude. The gunner can then scan a wider area, too. If you want to get an idea of the minigun’s range, have a friend on the ground start spraying up, so you can see where it ends. That way, you'll know about how high you need to be.

As Happy Hunter says, when players try to use the minigun on us, it makes it easier for me to find them quickly. The resolution in the gunner’s camera is pretty low, and it seems like players don’t always resolve in it right away. But if they start spewing bullets at us, (or rockets), I can find them immediately. They give away their position and, pop!

If I had a gunner minigun wouldn't be a problem. But when you only have random barrage and homing rockets that lock onto everything except your target at your disposal, it's much harder to stay out of minigun range and remain effective at the same time.

My new custom crew color for Hunter. ( #464836FF )

^such a shame, I'm on PS4 and I want to have matte crew colors so badly :(

AFAIK, if you buy a matte color, then yoir crew color and then you reload the game or something like that, you keep your crew color with a matte texture.

Nobody ever wants to wait while I grab my Hunter in contact missions. They all rush to the thing in their Deluxos, then by the time I've arrived 70% of the enemies have already been wiped out

:(

I never get to show off the gas bombs

I know that feel.. Tell someone I'm gonna grab a Hunter, they proceed to objective via car.

Also, Savage and Hunter, the people on foot opt to ride in the back of the Savage instead of using the portable orbital cannon on the Hunter.

Lol a rank 591 was complaining to me before (i was the host of the mission) because I collected the briefcase in Martin's 'Extradition' mission and - due to a cooldown from not long ago calling a plane - couldn't use any personal vehicle so was stuck in a Hauler. He was having a right moan about "I should be using a Deluxo" and getting through missions fast, even though he wanted them to launch before we had 4/4 players on the earlier mission :/

It's like "just because these meme vehicles exist in the game doesn't mean you have to use them", and honestly I've had times where objectives have been destroyed due to being over-zealous with the missiles, so in those cases a 'less weaponised' approach is worthwhile.

Deluxo is so slow, I'm usually right in time if not faster. Most routes to objectives go through PV spawn spots.
