I was testing the modded hunter in single player specifically the Engine upgrade flying over the lake near chilliad. The upgrades don't actually increase your movement speed but effect your gain in altitude. I don't know if it's worth getting as you actually go slower if you want to maintain a low altitude because you have to either tap the throttle or tap the brakes to descend. Flying over zancudo with max armor took one rocket then an explosive bullet (don't know what it was someone please shed some light on what this is and if it deals less or more damage than a rocket) then another rocket to kill me straight out.

When you fly over zancudo and get an wanted lvl, a lazer spawns directly behind you and shoots undodgeable rockets at you.

Okay tested some stuff relating to the armor and explosive turret. Lets start with the turret.

Explosive cannon shoots about 180rpm, completely blows up a lazer in three hits, blows up police helos and all other single player cars in one hit. It can rotate 360 degrees and has a blind spot obviously directly below and above.

So menyoo has this thing where spawning a vehicle then jumping out and shooting it provides different results to the trainers repair vehicle function.(can someone please comment on which would be more accurate for online).

These tests were done on vehicles with no one inside (single player).

I tested the buzzard, savage and hunter(100% armor). All shots from the Carbine Mk2 were directly on the engines of all three vehicles.

The numbers here are explosives and bullets required to smoke not destroy unless stated otherwise.

You have 2:30 seconds from initial smoke to complete engine failure in the Hunter.

Without using Menyoo's repair vehicle function and attacking from within 10 meters(only relevant to small arms fire).

HUNTER

1 explosive sniper round to doom the vehicle(smoke).

26 Carbine Mk2 rounds all mods no special ammo to doom the vehicle(smoke).

1 homing launcher round to destroy outright.

BUZZARD

13 carbine Mk2 rounds all mods no special ammo to doom the vehicle(smoke).

1 explosive sniper round to destroy outright.

1 homing launcher round to destroy outright.

SAVAGE

7 carbine Mk2 rounds all mods no special ammo to doom the vehicle(smoke).

1 explosive sniper round to destroy outright.

1 homing launcher round to explode 10 seconds after due to fire damage.

using Menyoo's repair vehicle function and attacking from within 10 metres.

SAVAGE

22 carbine Mk2 rounds all mods no special ammo to doom the vehicle(smoke)

2 explosive sniper round to doom the vehicle(smoke).

1 homing launcher round to doom the vehicle(smoke).

BUZZARD

43 carbine Mk2 rounds all mods no special ammo to doom the vehicle(smoke).

1 explosive sniper round to doom the vehicle(smoke).

1 homing launcher round to destroy outright.

HUNTER

3 explosive sniper round to doom the vehicle(smoke).

43 Carbine Mk2 rounds all mods no special ammo to doom the vehicle(smoke).

1 homing launcher round to doom(smoke appears 10 seconds after the flames).

using Menyoo's repair vehicle function and attacking from just outside lock on range(aim assist partial) with the carbine Mk2 all mods no special ammo.

BUZZARD

53 Rounds to doom the vehicle(smoke).

HUNTER

110 Rounds to doom the vehicle(smoke).

I also tried the MK2 carbine about 50 meters further away than the test above and the bullets didn't effect the Hunter i shot over 480 rounds and there was no smoke, not sure if this is an issue with testing in single player.

Thanks for the (very) detailed figures regarding resistance.

It seems its only downside towards its competitors in this domain is resistance to homing missiles, Savage does it better.

But since there are countermeasures, ...

So the Hunter is on its way to be a massive a$$kicker. Can't wait to see how it behaves in the long term while being stuck to missile-based weaponry while operated by a single person.

Nah its resistance is better than the savage.

After the repair function the savage takes 2 homing launchers to destroy outright but it smokes after the first rocket.

The hunter takes 3 homing rockets to destroy outright but it also smokes after the first rocket providing that the Hunter is on fire from the homing launcher(can't properly test this in SP).

Also the Hunter takes 7 explosive sniper rounds to blow up but only one 3 to make it smoke.

Providing ground players aren't kill hungry they are left with the option of making it smoke and

a)hope the pilot flies back to the hangar

b)waiting and allowing the Hunter to kill you for two and a half minutes.

c)wait in passive mode until the Hunter dies of engine failure.

If you are hungry for the kill and the health is the same as my notes above (after the repair function) prepare to use a lot of ammo trying to blow this up. Even when you destroy it, it will be back in 2 minutes or so and providing you don't miss with the explosive sniper at all its like 1/5th of your explosive ammo capacity but with misses the average player might take at least 10 shots to blow you up.

Also most importantly about the gunner, if you are communicating or playing in the same room as the pilot this will be the main weapon of the Hunter not the homing missiles or barrage. The explosive cannon can shoot 360 degrees and 180 rpm, if an explosive sniper user gets killed in the middle of trying to shoot you down they lose the ammo in the clip and if they have no explosive ammo left they may as well go into passive mode or leave the lobby. Also remember the cannon can spin all the way around people who think the Hunter is safe to engage because the nose isn't pointing at you will be shocked when they get instantly blown to pieces.

Has anyone made any videos comparing the stock Hunter and upgraded Hunter when it comes to yaw/pitch/roll?

Flush - what happens in GTA V and GTA Online can be two different things. For example, the cannon - in GTA Online - doesn't get a 360degree FOV. Also, some vehicle's damage resistance is different.

Menyoo's "repair vehicle" function sets the engine health to 1250, so 250 more than is really possible.

Some good observations otherwise.

EDIT: @Happy Hunter - handling upgrades simply make the yaw, pitch and roll better - so it's worth having. I've got a video in the works doing 3 x 360 degree turns, and the difference between stock and race handling is at least half a second in the turn speed.

When this is released, I'll be leaving the stock engine on her, but upgrading with Race Handling.

yes, miniguns from the annihilator/buzzard/etc do MUCH more damage to vehicles in GTA:O than they do in GTA:V, you can shoot up a dozen plus police choppers blowing them all up in GTA:O but in SP good luck taking 1 out before smoking. I also noticed aircraft can run longer in GTA:O while smoking before finally kicking the bucket, in GTA:V it takes less than a minute, back in PS3 days I would fly at for least 20 minutes with a smoking Anni before it gave out on me.

So testing in SP can greatly differ than in Online.

So, Classique's testing showed that it took 5/6 explosive sniper hits while unoccupied. Is it possible yet to test with someone inside the Hunter?

If not, I guess we could try an armour-upgraded Havoc empty versus occupied - if that takes more sniper hits with someone in, then there's not much reason the Hunter wouldn't. Not that I can think of anyway.

Also, how many until it starts to smoke? Just the one? Not exploding until 5/6 is great, but smoking will force you to go replace the Hunter before it falls down anyway.

can someone do the same test online with the savage? Vehicle must be unmanned, just curious if the numbers that I got through single player are completely different to online. I chose the DLC weapons because I assumed the damage will be the same as online as they shouldn't be available for single player in the first place.

After playing Vice City and San Andreas, this is crap. Can't loop, can't barrel roll, I mean wasn't the whole point of 'Brown Thunder' to be like that movie Blue Thunder with that dude from Jaws in the badass helicopter?

I literally just stopped mid supply run I can't stand this thing. For all the hype it's really a letdown.

I got to do a sale mission with the Hunter and was quite satisfied. I'll be buying one for both characters on my primary PSN account.

I've mastered the Buzzard and looking forward to getting this one nailed next.

So there is a rumor that Nov 14th will be the Hunter release day. Rockstar is expected to limit the dripfeed to one vehicle so it will be a long time before we get it.

I would like to know too.

Also, how much faster is the fully upgraded one compared to the slow stock version.

Slow? What? It's like, one of the fastest attack choppers in-game...

This game uses entirely different physics than those games, and none of the other helicopters in the game can even come close to flips, I think very few people expected the Hunter to be able to in this game. I think we're pretty lucky that it didn't end up being "paper Savage 2.0" that gets destroyed by a few snowballs.

I've seen mods where helicopters have similar handling. Apparently it's quite easy to change the handling on them to work like this too.

It's a shame it has auto-stabilization, but it was always a very real possibility they might add that to it, and I'd already got used to the idea a long time ago.

Don't get me wrong - I'd have loved it. But the weaponry and flares make up for it in my opinion.

It looks incredible in the editor too.

I'll buy it eventually but for a combat Chopper it just doesn't handle like I would hope. You could do some crazy maneuvers in the old games in it!

I'm really hoping to get a few Hunter enthusiasts together once we get our hands on her and take on a full lobby in formation like this.

Leave Zancudo, swoop over Vinewood Hills and reign Brown Thunder over Los Santos.

I'm quite able to live without it able to do flips, it was barely able to do them in GTA:SA. The unique weapons, good handling, & flares make it my new favorite aircraft (Sorry Savage, I still love you).

I think I figured something out about the explosive sniper/armour on the Hunter.

So, remember Classique said it was 5/6 explosive sniper hits to an unoccupied Hunter - but that he wasn't sure if having some inside the vehicle made it more resistant to explosive rounds.

I'm thinking an upgraded Havok with 100% armour could be tested, both occupied and with no one in it. If that takes more explosive sniper hits when someone's in, then I don't really see why the Hunter wouldn't too. Which would be pretty awesome, since then it could be even more than 5/6 hits.

I saw this video, which has the Havok as taking 5 hits when upgraded (occupied). 1:50.

I'm pretty sure that tiny little thing can't survive 5 hits when no one's inside. But it'll be easy enough to test anyway. If no one else has done it first, I'll test on my own tomorrow.

Thank god they accounted for explosive rounds and actually gave decent protection. Remember when Gunrunning came out and we were all certain that explosive sniper would spell the end of flying in GTAO? How funny in hindsight lol. All the anti aircraft from Gunrunning is what gave Piro, myself, and Happy reason to believe an aircraft update was still possible. Don't know if any of us would have guessed it would be the next update, but looking at both DLC now it totally makes sense..

Definitely. For me it was that anti-air trailer flak cannon especially that seemed off to me. Like, it's as powerful as 4 shots from a tank. There was just nothing in the air that could've possibly needed that at all before.

I kind of guessed at that point they might be releasing something that would need that to shoot it down.

But I was also worried lol. I remember making this:

I did some testing, comparing how much damage some aircraft took when occupied (according to that guy's tests), and how much they took unoccupied (with my own tests).

The results mostly look good for the Hunter. All helicopters took more explosive hits when occupied than when empty (some more than others). The only aircraft that took the same number empty as occupied, were non-helicopter aircraft (the Lazer, and the Ultralight/glider).

Havok: 3 empty; 5 occupied. 2 extra hits, 60% increase.

Savage: 3 empty; 4 occupied. 1 extra hit, 33% increase.

Buzzard: 2 empty; 3 occupied. 1 extra hit, 50% increase.

Valkyrie: 2 empty; 3 occupied. 1 extra hit, 50% increase.

Annihilator: 2 empty; 3 occupied. 1 extra hit. 50% increase.

Cargobob: 3 empty; ? occupied.

Swift Deluxe: 2 empty; ? occupied.

Volatus: 2 empty; ? occupied.

SuperVolito: 2 empty; ? occupied.

Swift Classic: 2 empty; ? occupied.

Maverick: 2 empty; ? occupied.

Frogger: 2 empty; ? occupied.

Not counting these since they're not helicopters, but for curiosity's sake.

Hydra: 2 empty; 3 occupied.

Lazer: 2 empty; 2 occupied.

Ultralight: 3 empty; 3 occupied.

Now, it's entirely possible the Hunter will take the same number occupied as it does empty. That youtuber hasn't shown every helicopter, so I can only do this test with the ones he did (haven't got someone to occupy them for me, not right now).

If anyone discovers a helicopter that takes the same number of explosive hits empty as it does occupied, please post here some time.

I guess you could try predicting what kind of increase the Hunter might potentially have, by working out averages from the differences in current helicopters. But it's probably not worth the effort. The Hunter may well take no more hits when occupied than it does when empty. But, as far as I know, it would be the odd helicopter out if it does.

Then again, it's a special kind of helicopter. Even has its own blip. And anything could happen with Rockstar.
