Flying locations does save me alot of work.  alright, sent it...  and yea, its best to keep it simple and make it more complex as development goes along rather than starting with a complex task right off the board... If you have any questions, dont be afraid to PM me. I will try to help out to the best of my knowledge.  I'll try to convert the "things" you've sent me. Expect something good. EDIT:  Some progress updates: -LC Organized, everything goes into the game_lc.IMG file. -LODs and normal objects seperated. LODs go into the game_lcLOD.IMG -The cities will have their own IMG file and IDE. -IMG files will be sorted against IDE order, will result in better FPS for everyone. -Collision ID bugs fixed. The Collision IDE order was messed up. Could've been why LC didnt render. -New IMG file for VC and LC interiors: game_int.IMG. This file will have ALL files considering interiors. These interiors are now in the Hidden Interior Universe. THE SA AND VC MAPS ARE ALSO SORTED LIKE THIS. THIS WILL RESULT IN AN ORGANIZED ENVIROMENT, AND BETTER FPS. LC is working! No LODS! Ss4gogeta0
im looking up how Miami looked in the 90s... to try to get a sense of the style and feel of the 90s vibe from when Miami was coming off the neon fueled cocaine cowboy lifestyle...  Since GTA takes place in Fall of 1992 (what seems to be october) Miami was struck by Hurricane Andrew at the time and suffered heavy damage...  http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/08/21/20-facts-hurricane-andrew-anniversary_n_1819405.html  anyway I was thinking of an idea where there could be 3 different versions (80's, 90's, and 00's) of each city... to mirror the time of GTA VC, SA, and III Respectively...       that was my inspiration for the Idea... dkluin
 SA is set around late november- december 1992 as it's winter in LC well, there would still be some damage and construction in VC due to the hurricane    for some ideas  A tearn up VC by hurricane Andrew. We can set the time from the game to a different era. We can set it to 2005, it'll be much better. We can add in all the features we want then. We just have to replace and convert some maps. VC can be a bit bigger, new neighbourhoods, but still some destruction from the hurricane that stroke in 1992.  And we can explain why the maps are extended. It all comes together. Alright, how about a poll? Or, we start the first part of the game in 1992, and the player gets sent into jail for 13 years, and is back in 2005. That would be very cool wouldn't it? Why? Because then it'll make sence that the maps are bigger then they were. Like: LS has a bigger port area, LV has a bigger desert, and SF could have Alcatraz. Wait, what about this: Vehicles, or weapons. We can convert III vehicles and optimize them to look like SA ones, and add those (not replacing). nkjellman
Glad to know that you are releasing a map with the original, and an altered version. Â For the 1992 map that you were thinking of doing, I was thinking you could do something like this. Liberty City: (Base map: Grand Theft Auto Liberty City Stories) -Reverse construction sites. I'd make progress be early. For example, the one sky scraper being worked on in LCS, and is the tallest building in GTA III could be much shorter. Like only the first few stories, with construction equipment around the base. -Callahan Bridge. I'd make a bridge that looks kinda sh*tty. That way you don't have to rely on the ferries. I'd still make it concrete, but make it look rusty. I know the storyline makes it seem that before the Callahan Bridge, everyone took the ferries but it seems kinda retarded that LC has been around (lets say as long as New York) and they never had a bridge connecting to the other side. So in actuality, a old Callahan Bridge makes more sense, and it would be less annoying. -LC is snowy. I'd use models and textures from the snow mod, with permission. NOTE: They are Xbox quality. and he modeled in snow drifts. You probably would just have to remodel snow drifts for the North East portion of Staunton Island as it is completely different. But I'd retexture the streets so they look like they were plowed. -St. Marks Bistro, and Francis International Airport interiors from San Andreas added. -Fake airplanes at airport removed and replaced with planes from San Andreas. -Salvatore Leone's office in his mansion is enterable. (This office appeared in LCS, and in The Introduction video that showed events before San Andreas. -Add a seabed -One time mission only interiors from LCS are enterable. Â Vice City: (Base map: Grand Theft Auto Vice City) -Construction sites finished. -Fake airplanes at airport removed and replaced with planes from San Andreas. -Xbox textures -Missing props from PS2 map. Â San Andreas: (Base map: Grand Theft Auto San Andreas) -Restore missing props from PS2 map. -Open up interiors from cut scenes and ones you could only enter on missions. -Camera panning out when entering CJ's San Fierro removed so you can roam CJ's garage freely while being able to see where you are. Â Basically the concept would be this. The GTA LCS map would be brought back 6 years from 1998 to 1992 with snow added, the GTA VC map would be brought forward 6 years from 1986 to 1992, and the San Andreas map would have stuff missing from the PS2 version restored. Textures would be higher quality because the snow mod for LC uses Xbox textures as a base, and the textures are better on the Xbox version of VC as well. What do you think of this idea? Â Edit: Out of curiosity, when do you think the first version may be released? Personally, I feel like they had to of had an older bridge there before the Callahan that we see. There is no way that a city like LC would of waited so long to build a bridge and just relied on Ferries. LC is a big city (by GTA standards but regardless). There is no way that they went through the 20th century with out a bridge. The old bridge could get blown up sometime between SA and LCS's story lines. Or it is very rusty, old, and sh*tty. It would make more sense for the ferries to be there if the bridge is bumpy. Â Another idea is to make the bridge cramped with only 1 lane in each direction. Something that would of made logical sense to of had a ferry system in place. This would mean that concept wise, the bridge would be cramped and congested, giving people a reason to use the ferries, which would of given the ferries a reason to exist. Plus have it look worn out from everything being concentrated in one place, thus giving the people of LC more of a reason to use the ferries. Â But do you have a picture of the beta bridge? nkjellman
Judging by that bridge, it definitely looks like Portland was much further away from Staunton Island. We wouldn't want to move Portland. I say use the design, and shrink it down so it fits the same length as the current bridge. It would be shrunk so it wouldn't be as tall, and it would only be two lanes, one in each direction. Â Edit: I see lods are giving you trouble. In all honesty, do we even need them anymore on the III era GTA's? PC's now days can handle having the whole map loaded with out lods. Just the regular models loaded as far as you can see. I think you should do this with the maps to save yourself trouble. -Move them far apart so we can only see ether LC, VC, or SA at one time. (This is with the draw distance mods from Project 2dfx, because lets face it, default SA draw distance blows.) It would be more realistic, and increase performance. -Remove lods. PC's now days can load all the close up PS2 quality models on the map at one time. My PC can load the whole SA with out lods at once. The maps will look better and you won't have to deal with sorting out the bugs that are caused by the lods. Also removing lods would also free up id's. Â In all honesty, PC's that would have trouble loading SA with the Lodless mod would have trouble loading this due to the limits of the game being increased. Now if we were talking about doing this on a newer engine that would need to render shadows. reflections, and other stuff, or if we were talking about doing the HD era maps here, then I'd worry about lods.
