My account is actually probaby worth a couple thousand lol if you factor in all the stuff we own and cash in bank.

I understood it to be a scam. I just was trying to understand what they were gaining from it. I was like yeah I'll trade ya. The account your gonna get is level 3 with 20,000 in the bank. They was like......ok. I said what are you gaining from this trade. They wouldnt answer. They even said I could log in to the account and see for myself. Said it had 860 million on it.

I've just blocked and reported the three I've gotten so far... the most prudent response by far, but it's oh so tempting to respond to the ones that actually send messages (in the event it's not just a bot on the other end)...

It's an issue on Xb1, random accounts try to friend and lure players into things like that and has gotten worse recently. All my friends and I are experiencing this stuff.

 

My advice, look at gamerscore, it's prob gunna be zero, block then report for spam.

 

It's definitely a thing on PS4 as well, I had to turn friend requests from people I didn't know off again as I was getting an influx of them recently.

Earlier today I got a message on psn from someone I didn't know and have never seen the name before. All it said was hey, nothing more but checked the profile and he didn't have any trophies or anything. I just left the chat but I thought about this thread after I did and thought that I maybe should've answered and see what happened

I've read about those. If you reply to them, you get some kind of virus and it prevents you from seeing any kind of notifications. It also swaps your name from the right side of the screen to the left side in the message list.

 

It happened to one of my friends, and Sony still hasn't fixed it as far as I know. They're trying to deny it's even happening.

Mmm, virus? Doubtful..but more logically thing would be it's just someone with the PS Messages app via PC with a bot script.

 

That's a thing. You can download apps on PlayStore via PC now.

 

Of course, that requires the latest OS or an Android emulator like BlueStacks.
