They probably want to get rid of their modded one and have a legit one without having to rank up and earn things.

Tell'em to f*ck off and smile :)

It's an issue on Xb1, random accounts try to friend and lure players into things like that and has gotten worse recently. All my friends and I are experiencing this stuff.

My advice, look at gamerscore, it's prob gunna be zero, block then report for spam.

Ive had players contacting me at random wanting to trade accounts? Is this a thing right now or what?

I've had this happen to me too. My characters are rank 679 and 259. He thought I'd want to swap them for his 200 something and 100 something characters. Moron. But even if you did want to swap, how would you do that without risking giving over the details of your account and not getting their account details in return? It's clearly in their interest to swap more than yours. Treat it as a scam. It will never end up good for you.

If it sounds and looks like a scam it probably is a scam.

Are they related to these 3? Than it is a definite scam. lol

As the man once said "If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is".

See also: "You can't cheat an honest man"

I've played GTA since October 2013 and in that time I've only just made it to Level 300. I've got a couple of nice cars, most of the Pegasus vehicles, and a couple of mil in the bank... Alright, it's not impressive, but it's MINE. I don't think I'd even bother to play if I traded my account for a Level 8000 with $1,000,000,000 and every vehicle/achievement/award unlocked. Once you've got everything, what else is there to strive for?

The sad thing is there's gonna be some kid who thinks its the deal of a lifetime, hands over all their details and gets royally stung.

This is mostly done by bots friending people at random and spamming everyone on that list with scams and spam. If someone adds you look at their profile, if it has zero gamerscore and their activity consists of nothing but adding a ton of friends all at once, you are dealing with a bot. Just block, report, and move on. I suggested they bring back the old system where the person has to accept the request first before you are added to their list.

The other way its abused is people using it to track others to harass them later on, happens quite a bit on Gta in fact.

Beware some try to be more clever about it by having the bot send you some pre-written story about their life or what they're doing at the time to lower your guard and decrease the chances of you thinking they are a bot, do not be fooled.

I agree- the old friend request system needs to be brought back. But it's 2017 and social media is king with likes and followers, so I can't even blame MS for going this route. Edited by Ker Juice

Lol, I've had that happen recently but I thought it was just a recent player being a douche.

They said they found me through "Xbox Friend Finder", some nonsense that doesn't even exist and asked me what my age was. I told them "Nope" and they said something along the lines of "Cool, I'm a 22 year old female". I'm so sure.

Edit: Actually, here it is.

Lol I had bots say that exact same sh*t to me twice. First asked how old I was, then telling me they were a 22 year old female as if that was gonna be an incentive for me keeping them on my list or something. Like I said in my previous comment, its all pre-written and they send this same exact sh*t to everyone. They use the "Xbox Friend Finder" bullsh*t to try and draw away any suspicion on why they added you completely at random without having ever met you previously in-game. They know just adding people at random is a highly suspicious red flag, so they came up with that crap hoping you would not delve any deeper and not discover they're full of it.

I had one spam me about a week ago. It pretended to be a 22/Female from somewhere. That was my first Red Flag right there. NO Girl, who's in their Right state of Mind would even consider giving a Big, Fat, & Ugly Dumbbell like Myself LOL, the Time of Day and That's a Fact, Jack LOL. Then they Said, They wanted to do Cam Show, so I reported it to Microsoft and Moved on about my Business.

On a similar note, I've had a random player ask if I'd like to "game share" with them (involving sharing account passwords)... I'm certainly not giving out access to my gamer account containing my credit card & personal info, etc.

That is a scam but I got a real opportunity for you OP. My uncle just died and he happened to be a Nigerian prince and was worth millions and I am his next of kin. In order to gain access to his millions of dollars I need to pay a $20,000 processing fee and am $10,000 short. If you loan me the money I promise a two hundred fold return on your investment. Just PM me for further instructions.

I had a guy ask to 1v1 me for my account. He worded it like "1v1 for acc". I was thinking Jesus, surely this f*cking guy doesn't mean account. I asked him "what do you mean by acc?". He said "account. fight me, if I win, I get your account". I sent back "lol you think I'm gonna give some random neckbeard my account if I lose?" to which he responded "lol trash". Sorry bro, but I'm not giving up my account that I've had since I was a literal kid that has 15 platinum trophies with GTA V and San Andreas being some of them. I DID fight him anyway after he called me trash, and of course I won, so no accounts lost in the end ;)

Another red flag being most women would not go out of their way to make sure that you know they're female. They say that in hopes your dick will do the thinking from then on, not think logically, and not question their suspicious behavior. Unfortunately for them not every guy is gonna have the mindset of a horny thirteen year old boy. To someone knowledgeable, the fact you go out of your way to try and make that known makes me even more suspicious, not less.

Are you on Ps4? Game sharing is something legit on Ps4.

Someone posted an xbox chat image of one of these bots initiating a chat, the actual gamer responding with a quote from the elderly emperor of Skyrim, and the bot just continuing on declaring itself to be a 22yo female.

Earlier today I got a message on psn from someone I didn't know and have never seen the name before. All it said was hey, nothing more but checked the profile and he didn't have any trophies or anything. I just left the chat but I thought about this thread after I did and thought that I maybe should've answered and see what happened

I sent the $10k but how long does it normally take to get our inheritance?

I've read about those. If you reply to them, you get some kind of virus and it prevents you from seeing any kind of notifications. It also swaps your name from the right side of the screen to the left side in the message list.

It happened to one of my friends, and Sony still hasn't fixed it as far as I know. They're trying to deny it's even happening.

Really?, that sounds a bit more than I first would have thought. I'm thinking if they can make a virus for the ps4, than a jailbreak might not be far away..

If GTA has taught me anything, it's to trust no one. I'm curious, though. What reasons do they give for wanting to trade what I'd imagine they swear is a perfectly good, perfectly legit account?

I tried it once. Internet usage shot up faster than a missle. Never again

I suppose its ok for people with no usage limits.
