During the badsport timer glitch (00,00,00 days ps3) me and the other unfortunate players stuck in it used too play golf alot, it was a laugh the endless battle got boring

Wanted to bring this thread up as I have recently began playing sports and activities again. I posted this in the DLC Idea section but am posting it here seeing its sports related and I believe it would definately make players take part more

 

 

 

 

Sports & Activities Update

 

The small S&A update will introduce new sports and activities to GTA Online.

 

FEATURES:

ACTIVITIES

 

TRACK

 

Players: 1 - 6

Location: ULSA

Type: Lap/Endurance

Laps: 1 - 99

Endurance: 5min - 30min

Description: Relive your college days as you sprint around the running track of the ULSA.

NPC's When Solo: Yes

 

ROCK CLIMBING

 

Players: 1 - 4

Location: Mt. Chilliad, Raton Canyon

Description: Climb the rock face and collect the checkpoints.

NPC's When Solo: No

 

SCUBA DIVING

 

Players: 1 - 4

Location: Pacific Ocean, Alamo Sea

Description: Collect the underwater checkpoints.

NPC's When Solo: No

 

POOL

 

Players: 1 - 2

Location: Yellow Jack Inn

Description: Classic game of pool.

NPC When Solo: Yes

 

TRIATHLON

 

Players: 1 - 16

Location: San Andreas

Description: Take part in San Andreas' most famous triathlon. Push yourself over the limit.

QUICK ACTIVITIES

 

Quick Activities can be launched via the Interaction Menu under the Activities Menu when in Freemode. Quick Activities have no duration and can be stopped at any time.

 

RUNNING

 

Requirements: Be on foot

Duration: n/a

RP Reward: 200RP per Mile (1,6Km) - Bonus: 3,000RP every 10miles (16Km)

GTA$ Reward: $250 per Mile (1,6Km) - Bonus: $30,000 every 10miles (16Km)

Cooldown Timer: 5min

 

Details: The player is unable to sprint, run in circles, enter vehicles, use weapons, be killed by other players, gain a wanted level.

 

CYCLING

 

Requirements: be on a cycle

Duration: n/a

RP Reward: 100RP per Mile (1,6Km) - Bonus: 2,000RP every 10miles (16Km)

GTA$ Reward: $100 per Mile (1,6Km) - Bonus: $10,000 every 10 miles (16Km)

Cooldown Timer: 7min

 

Details: The player must remain on the cycle (a 30 second countdown will begin if dismounted). The player is unable to enter vehicles, use weapons, be killed by other players, gain a wanted level.

 

BMX STUNTING

 

Requirements: be on a BMX

Duration: n/a

Stunts & Rewards:

- Bunny Hop: 10RP, $10

- Flip x1: 100RP, $100

- Spin x1: 50RP, $50

- Airtime x1 (1sec): 50RP, $50

- Wheelie (5sec): 50RP, $50

- Stoppie (2sec): 20RP, $20

Multiplier: The multiplier multiplies the base reward of flips, spins and airtime by the amount achieved.

Cooldown Timer: 5min

 

Details: The player must remain on the BMX (a 30 second countdown will begin if dismounted). The player is unable to enter vehicles, use weapons, be killed by other players, gain a wanted level.

 

SWIMMING

 

Requirements: be in water on foot

Duration: n/a

RP Reward: 200RP per Mile (1,6Km) - Bonus: 3,000RP every 10miles (16Km)

GTA$ Reward: $250 per Mile (1,6Km) - Bonus: $30,000 every 10miles (16Km)

IMPROVEMENTS TO CURRENT ACTIVITIES

 

DARTS

 

- The player can now play against an NPC.

- The winning player will be rewarded $250 and 100RP per game ($100 and 50RP with NPC).

- Players will be rewarded if the other player quits.

 

ARM WRESTLING

 

- The mechanic has be changed to push X (PS4) or A (XBOX One) repeatedly instead of using the analog sticks.

 

- The winning player will be rewarded with $250 and 100RP per round ($50 and 50RP with NPC).

 

TENNIS

 

- The player can now play against an NPC.

 

- The winning player will be rewarded $100 and 100RP per Game, $2,000 and 500RP per Set ($50 and 50RP per Game, $1,000 and 250RP per Set with NPC).

 

- The losing player will be rewarded $25 and 25RP per Game, $350 and 150RP per Set.

 

- Players will be rewarded if the other player quits.

 

GOLF

 

- The player can now play against an NPC .

 

- The winning player (per hole) will be rewarded with $250 and 250RP ($50 and 100RP with NPC). This does not apply when playing solo.

 

- The player can choose to automatically drive to the next hole in a route scripted Golf Caddy.

 

- The player(s) will be rewarded if another player quits.

 

SHOOTING RANGE

 

- All DLC weapons (excluding explosives and MKII variants) have been added to the Ammunation Shooting Range.

 

 

SPORTS APPAREL

 

A wide range of sport-related clothing will be added for both male and female characters.

I guess Rockstar could start from adding basic BMX tricks, like grinds, reverse and tailwhip. Something similar to Americana Wasteland, from here we could move to extreme sports in LS.

I'd be all over that dude, genuinely. Loads there to do, the potential here is endless I feel too, and the longer the game goes on adding some of the great stuff they've added just make me sad to think of the stuff that could and should be here if money making/freemode PvP wasn't the primary focus,.

 

Plus, the small and often cash/RP incentives would help encourage some over I feel. Many don't do it because it's just not viable at times, and as the betting went down to $1k, there's even less to be made potentially too. Especially the additions of NPC's, real boredom busters between stuff for many I feel, especially if there was good challenges and awards and such more added to these things.

 

We all don't wanna kill people, but we do like a good bit of PvP in many other ways. This would be awesome for me.

 

The rock climbing is one I'd not thought of or seen much, if at all, lol. Pretty fun idea man. And so surprised Triathlons from story, and Bowling or Pool form IV/San Andreas didn't return to the game somehow either.

 

* still to get my hole in one here too, any tips on hole 3 or 6 would be most welcome, lol.

Actual animations! But seeing the lack of small edges on actual rock faces, a climbing pick or similar tool could be used

This sport thingy will be a blast if they add it as an adv mode, instead of adding killing type of pvp, they could add sport themed adv mode you know with 2x payouts, that will boosts the players imo

The main activity I've played is golf, although after starting off trying and waiting and waiting and waiting, time after time, to get other people to accept the invites, and getting no takers, I normally just play a round solo.

 

If things have been hectic and I want a bit of a break, a round of golf does the trick.

 

I've played the occasional round of darts, but tbh I find it too easy to win every time.

 

As for tennis, while I often played 2-3 games during activities with NPC's in story, I've very rarely seen a notification for it online. My first time playing online was just a couple of days ago. I was surprised to see a note for it, so accepted. The person quit with 1 game left of the set though. Last night I saw another note for it, that was better because the person stuck in until the end. I let them win a game to encourage them, then they grew into it and won the next & offered a proper challenge from then on.

 

When we dropped back to freeroam I was surprised all over again, when they didn't try to kill me & actually sent my a GG message.

 

As for improving the activities, well payouts and RP increases as you mentioned. That's all that can be done really. Maybe for tennis, the default should be 2-3 games rather than a whole set. Maybe some people don't realise how long a set is or that they can reduce the game time.

 

Also, if R* added npc's of varying skill to play against, that would help. As I said, its rare to see notifications to play these, and I've never sent out invites for them and gotten someone to play against. So if people also had the option of playing against computer controlled opposition, that would be a boost.

 

Beyond that, the real improvement would be bringing activities from former games to gtao. My big call, and I've mentioned it a few times on here, would be to bring back pool.

 

I often took breaks from missions to have a game of pool in IV, mainly taking Jacob since it was closest to him & I wanted to keep him a friend in order to use his guns and ammo delivery. But there was also an NPC in the bar who you could play against. It would be great if that was in V. Play against NPC's or against other players. Have tables in bars - they would need to actually open some bars first of course...like tequila lala, the bar in sandy shore actually has a pool table in it if I remember right, although its just decorative, and for paleto, open the Hen house.

 

They could even add pool tables as items we could buy for our homes and play on.

 

Another couple of fun activity calls from prior games would be bowling & shooting hoops. All these could be set to allow competing against other players or npc's of varying difficulty.

AHA! GOLF! My favourite.

 

I mentioned it before on the forums. People are like "Golf?!". I say that to my Crew members to get a similar reaction. Although most actually like golfing.

 

I did cast my vote that they could improve it.

 

My biggest disappointment? When i saw how golf worked in GTAO. You start from wherever the ball is. There could be two settings. One where the game is played the way it is now. And one where you actually have to WALK/RUN around the golf course. With golf carts being optional.

 

But at the same time, there's so much energy to be put into the rest of the game.

Seriously though, I agree OP it would be good to make more out of this.

 

Perhaps they could do official competitions for the Golf/Tennis/Darts champion of Los Santos - with a big prize tag, e.g $10m GTA dollars. Then $5m for the runner up, further prizes etc.

 

Logistically that might be a challenge to run for R* but maybe not impossible. You could do group stages at a weekend where players can enter and get 5 games against others who enter. Then those who score well can join in the next weekend, reducing the numbers who make it through each time. When you get to maybe the last 32 or 16 the players are probably serious enough to be allocated a personal match time where they have to turn up within 5 minutes or forfeit. Might need to do it by Americas, EMEA and APAC to avoid time zone problems. But that might be quite interesting for them to run over the news wire over a few weeks..

I'd be thrilled if they opened the casino and added poker as an activity. It would be legal in most parts of the world despite the fact I often see people state the contrary.

 

Another activity that is rarely mentioned but would be easy and awesome to implement would be chess. They could add the tables to Legion Square and have outdoor chess in the park.
