Oh my god. I'm in love. R*, please make these JDM cars a reality! If I had to pick a daily driver, it might be the Sultan Retro by a hair! Not only these, but all of your drawings are absolutely phenomenal, as well as creative! How long does it take you to do these drawings, to conceive ideas etc?

Hmm, I'm not quite sure how long it takes to make the sketches, but they do give me some work...

 

Even using photos to make the base lines, which in some way speeds up the job a bit, making the final details with the pen and even that ridiculous painting take most of the time.

 

About the ideas, I really enjoy bringing back classic GTA cars in their former glory or in a totally new look and making GTA versions of some of my favorite cars of all time!

 

Of course, the vehicles can't be way too similar to their real life counterparts. Sure that many of my ideas does looks a lot like their analogues, but I try to avoid making them too fanciful or else they can turn out really bad, like a certain vehicle R* recently added in GTA Online... (I'm looking at you, Revolter!)

 

Well, some of the vehicles that were recently added to the game does look a lot like their base models, anyway.

I agree with you, untill this day i dont know how rockstar didnt get a lawsuit because of the Deluxo, seriously, is way too similar. About the Revolter, i think i will say it more 1000 times but that thing is ridiculous HAHAHA

My friend's dream car is a '47 Cadillac Series 62. I know if we ever saw the return of the Broadway - and it looked anything like that sketch - he would probably be over the moon with joy. And here I sit, still dreaming of the Cabbie's return...

 

Also many props from me for using the Pininfarina-style Albany badge! I think it looks waaaay better than the "A" badge some other Albanys use.

This broadway is simply beautiful, i miss this car in gta V, when the lowriders were added we havent had nothing in this style, the streiter classic (joke) is very nice also, the widebody arches are so cool The cabbie the only thing i would change is the grille. Nice work as always

Especially because there's just a few vehicles from the 1940's in the game at the moment...

 

I've used that Albany badge because of the Roosevelt. I might use the "A" badge for models between the 60's to the 80's. But I do agree with you! The "Pininfarina-style" badge does looks better than the "A" badge.

Yeah, the Broadway would fit perfectly in a lowrider themed update!

 

The Cabbie's grille have the same design as the one from Mafia III's Taxi, which is also based on the Checker Marathon.

Just like in the last update, vehicles similar to some of my sketches has been added officially by Rockstar! Hmm, I'm starting to believe that they indeed keep an eye on these topics to get some ideas...

 

Sure, I'm not assuming that they've made these cars based on my sketches, of course, as many of them have been requested in ages, but who knows...

 

Just some quick thoughts about them:

 

- Issi Classic: YES!!! YES!!! YES!!! One of my Top 3 most wanted vehicles to be added is finally a reality! It isn't a surprise to say that I'm a Mini Cooper lover (both classic and new), and the Issi Classic was "love" at first sight! I'm totally going to make a Mr. Bean's Mini replica!

 

- Ellie: they finally added a classic Dominator in the game! The Ellie does looks great and all, but I wish it was based on a stock GT500, then you could turn it into a "Eleanor". Still good, nevertheless!

 

- Entity XXR: although I'm not much interested in Supers (with some exceptions, of course), it's nice to see a new Överflöd based on the Agera! Too bad we can't turn it into a One:1 like my Entity EN:11...

 

- Jester Classic: it's really hard to say this, but that one REALLY disappointed me...

That thing is almost exactly like the GTA SA's version, and, as much as I love the mk.IV Supra, I never been a fan of that weird design from the original Jester...

And don't get me started with that brand choice! Well, to be honest, I really don't mind the "Jester Classic" for the nostalgia sake, but they could at least made it a "Karin" or "Emperor". After all, they already did something like that with the Virgos (Dundreary and Albany)!

I just hope that doesn't affect the chance of a classic Acura NSX based car to be added in the future.

There's a vehicle based on the Supra that was (or is still) being made by the Vanillaworks team looks miles better! Hell, modesty aside, even my own version would be a better choice! lol

Ohh well, at least we got the "Jester" back in GTAV...

Aside of that, I'm loving the classic cars they added in this update! Even a freaking Lada! Marvelous!

Just around 7 sketches left to be updated, 4 of which will probably drop tomorrow!

 

I'm still having some issues with the "Bollokan Tone"... I'm going to redo that sketch as a new model, but I'm not quite sure which Hyundai should I use as a base, and of course it'll have a new name too.

I was thinking in remake it based in either Hyundai Genesis Sedan (the coupe model would be a great choice, but there's already the Prairie, based on its predecessor), Hyundai Elantra or Hyundai Sonata, around 2008-2013.

 

What do you guys think? Any suggestions?

Out of those Hyundai models you mentioned, I'd vote the Genesis is the best to go with, though I'd also say I'd want it to be based on a newer, post brand split Genesis G80 or G90, or an old mid 1980s Sonata. Though I felt the "Tone" name was a good poke at the original model's "Accent."

 

Certainly excited to see an Aztek, DS, and 356! Not to mention the holy grail that is the Series II. (Though I think I'd call the Aztek a "Crystal" and the Series II a "Safari," hah)

Hmm, I see. They're great models too! In the Genesis' case, I wanted to stick with the 2013 setting of GTA V, that's why I said between 2008 to 2013. Although nowadays it seems that the game is set on present day... 

 

Hey, I liked the name "Crystal" for the Aztek-based Imponte! I guess that it'll have a new name now, hehe.

 

About the Gallivanter, "Safari" is a nice name for it! I've chosen the name "Raider" to make reference to Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation (one of my top 3 favorite games from the series), as Lara Croft use one of these in a portion of the game.

Hehe, nah! I wish I had those "damn skills" you're mentioning... 

 

The Vigero Z69 will be one of the first models I'm going to draw after I update my old sketches! Hopefuly won't take too long!

Well, to be honest, that happens a lot with me when I draw that kind of hood totally freehand...

 

I think that happened in some of my old sketches...

 

Like I mentioned some posts before, the latest sketches were made by doing the construction lines over a picture of the base models to maintain their proportions (I'm terrible with proportions and perspectives, hehe). All I do after that is adding parts from different cars to make the car look closer to my inital idea, this time in freehand.

 

I'm not quite sure about the best way to draw that kind of hood... It depends of the drawing's perspective. I usually make that thin line to represent the shape of the hood. Something like what I did with the original version of the "Dundreary Hermes".

Hehe, nahh! It isn't a dumb question!

 

I drew all my sketches by hand. I draw the construction lines over a picture of the vehicle my idea is based upon to maintain its proportions. Then, still with the pencil, I add all the parts and details from different cars to make the sketch look closer to my initial idea. After that, I do all the final lines with a pen and then paint (in a ridiculous way) the plastic parts, secondary color parts, etc. When it's all done, I scan the drawing and voilà!
