Lexyz.
I've been struggling for a few days to play an online match on both IV and TBoGT, however there seemed to be nobody online, as I was always thrown on an empty lobby. Is that the case, or could there be a problem on my end? EDIT: I forgot to mention that I'm talking about the PC version of the games. Edited August 15, 2017 by Lexyz.
DOUGL4S1
Try using the Custom Match option. You'll probably only find one or two lobbies of people using SNT, so if you want 'proper' GTA IV Multiplayer again, I'd recommend playing with a friend or a group of friends. And this is pretty sad, actually. Well, at least I hope there are some private lobbies, as I only found one public, some russian dude with SNT. Lexyz.
I couldn't find any game on Custom Match either.Do you happen to have either game on PC?It would be really fun to have someone to play with. And as you said, its pretty sad, considering that both IV and EFLC are a lot more fun than GTA V IMO. DOUGL4S1
Are you playing 1.0.8?
Lexyz.
No, I have the 1.0.7 version.Would that prevent me from playing with 0.8 owners?
DOUGL4S1
Yes it would, and if you want to play Multiplayer in the 1.0.7, you should've copied the paul.dll file from the 1.0.8. It's the file that makes the Social Club work in-game, and it is glitched in the 1.0.7 version. The 1.0.8 corrected this, but people complained about the lack of mods, so they did this. Lexyz.
Thanks for the suggestion. Why is the Social Club required, though? You can play online via LAN using GFWL(and an Xbox live account) SanLiberty

Zolika1351
I came back to IV MP after I heard that SNT works agsin (about a month ago), and it's really hard to find a lobby out of the usual 10-15 ones that doesn't have a cheater on (one of those console mod menus, crashing and such), so if you want to play legit, better just go into a private match with friends, or host one yourself and kick anyone suspicious. It seems that the new patch removed the mod check completely, and now legit players get matched with SNT and car mods and everything. Also people with mod menus and car mods and stuff can now even join ranked matches. Also just a tip, if any one of your friends or you use 1.0.7.0, they should create the lobby, that way the lobby allows modded 1.0.7.0 to join and 1.0.8.0 players can join with invites too. Lexyz.
The LAN fully works without the Social Club though.
B Dawg
I've been struggling for a few days to play an online match on both IV and TBoGT You picked the wrong episode fool IV multiplayer isn't dead. There are always several Free Mode lobbies available 24/7, with Deathmatch/Mafiya Work/Race/Cops N Crooks on some occasions (there's still a die hard Cops N Crooks community playing every once in a while with their own rules, but I could never really get into that mode). TLAD usually doesn't have any people on it, you might get lucky on a rare occasion (last Saturday was great, I actually found 3 randoms on Free Mode who wanted to play all the other game modes, it was awesome). TBOGT, I haven't a clue. That episode doesn't even have any unique game modes of it's own, all it has is dumbed down deathmatch and nitro races (with superbrakes), therefore providing the least interesting/worst multiplayer experience that you shouldn't even bother with. Lexyz.
IV multiplayer isn't dead. There are always several Free Mode lobbies available 24/7 Then how come I couldn't find ANY lobby?I expected TBoGT to have more players anyway(although it's understandable, since IV seems to have more online modes). B Dawg
Maybe you're for some reason separated to mod only lobbies. Try to start a Ranked Match.

Lexyz.
It works now, it seems, after updating to 1.0.8.0 and 1.1.3.0 respectively. Edited August 19, 2017 by Lexyz.
D T
It works pretty well until a tugboat lands on you.
