Protection Detail Update (Concept)

Agent 14 has turned you on to some questionable individuals who might be of some use as back-up for your hobbies. Head to your MOC and see if any individuals around will meet your requirements.

You can have up to 3 members in your protective detail. Each open slot has different requirements that need to met before you can hire it out.

1st Spot- Be a CEO or Motorcycle President

2nd Spot- Complete 150 crates safely sourced

Complete 100 cars exported

Complete 50 Motorcycle Club contracts

3rd Spot- Win 30 Deathmatches, 20 Survivals, 35 Last Team Standing, 25 Adversary Matches and complete 200 races.

After unlocking a slot, you go to your MOC and access the list of available foot soldiers, completing their corresponding mission and then hiring them. *Missions must only be hosted once to unlock. You can release and hire as you please, however you must fork over an initial sum to unlock a new person. *Prices will vary based upon their initial skill-set.

The mechanism for this works as such; Once you have a foot-soldier hired, you bring up the interaction menu, choose Protective Detail and then highlight an open slot that is available. Scroll left and right through the individuals you have unlocked. Once you have chosen, assign them a main weapon that exists in your inventory as well as a secondary. Unless otherwise noted, your foot-soldier will eat up your ammo.

Now you set their ROE or Rules of Engagement. You can set this to attack, defend or passive. Your back-up will automatically go into passive when you do, and will be set to defend when you exit passive mode.

You may also have a white list for them, choosing to make it so they will not attack Friends, Crew, Friends + Crew and None. Your foot-soldiers will not attack a member of your organization, but may choose to punish one of your organization members should they hit you with a weapon.

When you fill one of your protection slots, you will be charged a fee, this fee covers a 24hr real time period. You can fill this position with whomever you have available, swap people out at will, and only one fee will occur with a 24hr period.

Your back-up will sometimes take a "fatal" hit. Each individual person that can be hired has their own cool down timer before they respawn near you. When they respawn, they will retain the previous settings given to them.

Your protective detail has many functions:

-They back you up in fire fights.

-They can drive/fly you around to waypoints that are set.

-Ride with you and fire at your designated targets.

-Operate turrets.

-Do not count towards Organization member limit.

-Carry one crate/resupply item. Can also operate one vehicle each for resupply missions.

-Can be told to operate one vehicle each, your own personal convoy.

Protective Detail Initial Roster

Guy X: A gang banger moving his way up the ranks of Los Santos' underbelly. Guy X is itching to branch out and learn new criminal trades to benefit him and his set.

*Special Ability: Occasionally calls a mugger on a player that has struck you with a weapon.

Initial Cost: 150K

Unlocks at Level 20

----------------------------------------------------

Guy Y: A professional body guard with a sadist streak that is not being sated. Guy Y has worked for some of Los Santos' hottest tickets, namely Spruce Billith and Mike Hunt.

*Special Ability: Carries unlimited incendiary ammo.

Initial Cost: 300k

Unlocks at Level 50

----------------------------------------------------

Guy Z: A 3 tour military man looking to retire before 35 with a bulging bank account. A truly unshakable soldier.

*Special Ability: Carries unlimited heavy weapon ammo.

Initial Cost: 550k

Unlocks at Level 100

----------------------------------------------------

Guy XX: A Los Santos' stunt double moonlighting as a mercenary in the underworld. He is quick to regale his team with good stories when he gets a few minutes to chill, "You guys ever fall down a set of stairs while someone throws Styrofoam boulders on you? It sounds fun right? Thats what I thought anyways. You get bruised as sh*t and the girls at the Vanilla Unicorn don't even recognize you. Screw this town. And those dicks throwing the boulders!"

*Special Ability: When he uses weapons, it drains your ammo at 1/2 rate.

*Special Ability: Capable of being sent off to attack any player until a death occurs. Is able to target passive players when in this capacity. (Must be sent further then four blocks for passive kill to activate)

Initial Cost: 1M

Unlocks at Level 250

---------------------------------------------------

Agent Kurlyenko: A former KBG field agent who defected 2 years ago. Her U.S. government provided job, managing a Burger Shot, has worn her down, and a little action is necessary.

Expect her to tell you about it from time to time in a thick accent, "Managing these acne ridden children as they make boorgers poorly and lose track of band-aids, vomit. Nyet! I used to make dead-drops and kil people. I stab some, I shoot some. I miss it. So very very mooch."

*Special Ability: Has permanent off radar ability, even when transporting illegal goods.

Initial Cost: 2M

Unlocks at Level 500

----------------------------------------------------

I envision the list of available hires being expandable. A particular update might bring two individuals related to it with possible new missions for each.>>>>

Example: Halloween Event

Unlocks new hire who comes from an insane asylum. Wears a glowing pumpkin mask and speaks insanely, "I wanna make a hat out of skin, think we can go do that sometime?" "It seems I lit the Molotov boss, what puts out rag fires?"

Special Ability: Carries unlimited Molotov cocktails, of which he throws many.

Cost: 300k

To Unlock: No level limit. Win five matches of the Halloween Adversary Mode.

*Limited time hire, must complete the five adversary wins and pay his initial fee within two weeks after the start of the Halloween Event.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Example: Christmas/Holliday Event

Unlocks new hire who fancies herself a bit of a super villain. She may not have super powers, or all her marbles, but she has a fancy themed mask and occasionally gripes about the nice weather, "Gracious I miss the way blood looks in the snow." "Wanna see me make it snow? Well, I can't right now, its not winter."

*Special Ability: Carries unlimited ammo for her favorite firework launcher.

*Special Ability: Excels at driving in the snow.

Initial Cost: 325k

To Unlock: No level limit. Win five matches of the Holiday Adversary Mode.

*Limited time hire, must complete the five adversary wins and pay her initial fee within two weeks after the start of the Holiday event .

--------------------------------------------------------------

New Vehicles

(Admittedly a long shot)

-Corvette Stingray

-1993 Mustang GT

-Acura NSX

-Corvette ZR1

-Jaguar XJ6

-90's Plymouth Prowler

-Cadillac Escalade EXT

-Israeli Merkava Mk 4 Tank (Actually armored like a tank, poorly aimed RPGs do less damage)

-RAH-66 Stealth Helicopter (Once the 'Stealth Plating' research item is completed, this chopper disappears from radar for ten seconds, then reappears for five seconds, over and over, provided the helicopter is under 70ft (?)

-A-10 Warthog

-JH-7 Fighter/Bomber

Running out of steam here but added clothing for men and women.

Closing Notes

I envision this update as largely a thank you to the longtime player base. Those who have played for a long time and explored all the modes will find themselves able to have a protective detail that is quickly superior to the wailing masses. Checking an adversaries level becomes knowledge worth having. When you roll up to kill someone or see someone creeping up, the higher the level, the more firepower may be brought down to bear so beware. Being a high level will not make you minor gods, but you will be a bit more respected in free roam by the flies that land in your sh*t. (I know you wont get more respect, likely just more insults, "You need three bodyguards, pussy!"

I also see this update as a tip of the cap to the lone wolves. With these helpers they can increase their security and also get a hand on supply missions.

Thank you for reading all this and feel free to add your own ideas for this update. I hope it stoked your imagination.- Dan

About the first part.
Forcing players to do not fun things or play abandoned adversary modes or playing races with those dirty races to get new features. Sounds really Rockstar.
Second part.
Mustang, yes please!

I tried to craft my idea in a way that R* might do. Im guessing alot of us have won 25 adversary mode matches already. With races, you dont have to win, just complete them.

Have people not met those unlock requirements already?

I could see Rockstar doing something like that, however it would restrict people so it would also need a paid for option, i.e. Slot 1 costs $1m, slot 2 $2m and slot 3 $4m if you haven't met the requirements.

There are issues with some of what they could do, I mean have you ever followed an NPC? Give it 2 days and people would know how they will act and know how to almost instantly kill them. It sounds fun but I have my doubts regarding the NPCs and how they would act.

The general idea is actually quite up Rockstar's street. But yeah, no clothes :(

Count me out. This is exactly what's driven me away from GTA:O.

Building on the same thing laced with different flavor.

Pass.

HeistsActivist

Not generally my cup of tea but what you've written out here is something I could get into, it would help me play the role of my character being involved with mafia better..

(I'm kinda like Phil Bell as since I'm Irish I can't get ahead in Mafia)

Add some good clothes with this (Quinn.. you're needed in this thread)

and I think this would be a great fleshed out update. Add some new missions though..?

I would be very against the paid option to bypass requirements. The requirements are a major part of rewarding longtime players. I bet 80% of year one players would meet those already, whereas new folk would have something to work toward.

Providing a cash work around for the requirements I think would be too in favor of cash cards. There should be some benefit to having played for a long time that new guys cant overcome with real money.

These npc bodyguards wont be able to compete with actual players, plus they will be shadowing you. However, they can certainly find cover and provide suppression while you try to better your position.

The npcs from missions can be little bastards, hiding behind cover and only coming out when you start aiming elsewhere. I think these bodyguards would help distract enemies, at least long enough to get a kill or two. Since they have a cooldown once they die, they arent well suited to long battles where people kill each other over and over, but in the first few minutes they are a decent tool.

Imagine you arent really looking for a fight, these guys can lay down cover fire and occupy an attacker while you escape.

They wont be super soldiers, but I miss the days from gta4 where you could call for two npc homies to ride with you.

Ass kissing to R*? What?

How has rockstar rewarded people for having played the game a long time? The only thing that used to be level locked now simply costs more.

Are you unhappy with the level requirements? The reason I set them as they are is because long time players, on my friends list anyways, seem to fall into two categories. I have one friend who doesnt really do freemode, ao he wouldnt meet the sales requirements, but he playes LTS deathmatches etc alot, so he would meet that. I have a different friend who almost always is in freemode selling or supplying despite having 70mil. So he might not meet the game mode requirements but he would have the sales one ten times over.

In coming up with this idea and fleshing it out, I had to add ways that follows R*s current trajectory of trying to monetize little bits to eat up players cash. For example, I would rather not have a daily cost to start using a bodyguard slot, but it makes sense that rockstar could add a fee to that.

I also somewhat dislike having research, but my main complaint with research is there is many useless ones; paintjobs yoi dont want or attachments you dont care about. So I made sure the research items are all useful.

If you are bitching about the vehicles, we already have a tank tjat gets stomped by an apc. That would be rectified. A new jet. We already have two so no harm no foul.

The only new gimmick vehicles wise is the heli that can go off radar sometimes when under a certain height. This is not an over powered feature, and considering it could be used to hide when transporting supplies, could be very useful in a defensive capacity.
