Mister Pink
Just 10 per cent of the world's population is left-handed and this has remained roughly the case for thousands of years. Men are also more likely to be left-handed. Historically left-handed people were considered inferior, with the use of the left hand being associated with witchcraft. Left-hand shakes are a sign of disrespect. This derives from the Middle Ages where people used to use their left hand to wipe after going to the toilet. The word sinister comes from the Latin word "sinestra" which originally meant “left” but took on meanings or “evil” or “unlucky.” Wedding rings worn on the third finger of the left hand originated with the Greeks and Romans, who wore them to fend of evil associated with the left-hand. Tennis champion Rafael Nadal switched to being a left-handed player - and there's a myth that his coach and mentor Toni Nadal noted it would give him a bigger advantage on court. A left-handed compliment is a criticism couched as a compliment; otherwise known as a backhanded compliment, such as “you are very competent for someone so inexperienced.” The term "left- wing" dates from the 1790s, when in the French revolutionary parliament the socialist representatives sat to the presiding officer's left. Leftists at this time were considered hostile to the interests of traditional elites. Christianity traditionally associated the left with evil through its description of a Last Judgement where the damned (“goats”) are sent to the left, and the saved (“sheep”) to the right. In The Simpsons, character Ned Flanders set up a shop to recognise the plight of left-handed people. Named “The Leftorium”, it specialised in left-handed products. Five out of the last eight US presidents write with their left-hand - Gerald Ford, Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush, Bill Clinton, and Barack Obama. Lefties are also called "southpaws". The term was coined in baseball to describe a left-handed pitcher. There's even a place called Left Hand. It's in West Virginia, US but sadly the town isn't named after its left-handed community. It's actually named after nearby Lefthand Run creek. - Yahoo News/Telegraph Being left-handed myself I've struggled with some utensils over the years. I'm more ambidextrous now and can do things pretty equally with left and right with the exception of writing. I even played guitar (not so well) with a right-handed guitar. I often wondered when playing video games if I grew up with a left-handed controller how I would fare. Movement being with the left thumbstick is fine but I always thought my aim could have been better if I was aiming with my stronger hand. A lot of you right-handed normies actually can be surprised when you find out that things like knives and scissors can be a little challenging to a left-hander. I'm half-tempted to play victim politics for the sheer satire of it. Maybe make a social justice movement to have more left-handed toilet handles and such. We're an oppressed minority! sreyazsec
Kudos for learning to use your other hand too, on the few occasions where I've lost the use of my right hand, I've become an invalid that can't do anything because my left hand doesn't want to play along. Lemme be the first to say, left handers - you are loved. You're strong and beautiful and don't need no man. Voodoo, V4S and Mister Pink
DarkSavageDeathlyCloud
Cool, i'm left handed in fact That being said, my only really good writing hand is left, right barely can pull it off, but funny enough i can use my other hand as good as the other for tasks like eating and using machines like chain saws, hedge shears and things like scissors, toy guns, regular saws, hammers and such. edit: proper writing honestly is not that great with either hand to be honest Edited August 13, 2017 by Darth Absentis Mister Pink

Shaytan
Although I'm primarily a lefty, I've learnt how to do some tasks in a right-handed position, namely using a fork and knives at the table (have always done it since kid), using the mouse (as a kid I used the family's computer so I got used to it; later on I set mine to work with my left hand and realized it felt as comfortable to me both ways, ended up buying an asymmetrical gaming mouse and so now there's no choice) and playing guitar (I taught myself from the beginning to avoid a bunch of inconveniences if I did it the other way around, didn't felt any major difficulty). Smith John
One thing that used to puzzle me was that while only 10 per cent of the world's population are left-handed, why do the majority of ice hockey players play left-handed? Also, I write right-handed, but I type with both hands because I'm bitypist. Mister Pink 1 bash the fash m8s
Nico
Being honest, I had no clue there was a left-handers day. I knew with when my mom read it on Facebook -as usual- and congratulated me and my brother. Yes, we're both left handed. Every single time I said to an old person I'm left handed, they told me the same story of how back in their days left handed children were forced to write with the right hand by tying their left hands to their backs. I guess I'm fortunate because of the time I was born. Mister Pink 1 Did you see the frightened ones? Did you hear the falling bombs? Left-handed people who praise themselves are kinda cringey (they often think that left-handed people are smarter). I think an ambidextrous person is way more impressive. Mister Pink
A lot of you right-handed normies actually can be surprised when you find out that things like knives and scissors can be a little challenging to a left-hander. That makes it sound like a handicap rather than something to brag about. Left-handed people who praise themselves are kinda cringey (they often think that left-handed people are smarter). I think an ambidextrous person is way more impressive. I wish I had the patience to train myself to become that (if it is really possible). It's certainly not a brag. Hence why I jokingly said I'll start a social justice movement for more left handed inclusiveness in society. For ages in school I just thought I was crap and using certain utensils like scissors. I was too stupid to put it down to me using opposite utensils. It was very frustrating, especially when people think you're just sloppy or don't take pride in what you do. I was just pointing out that even last year the subject came up and some friends were skeptical and they didn't know about such things. Nearly everything caters to the right hand. More than people realize. As for left handed people being smarter. Well, that wouldn't be a true generalization. However there is scientific research that suggests that left handed people have some slight cognitive advantages. One study here was taken to see if left handed people developed to be more creative growing up in a right-handed world. Study at least show that left-handers to score higher on all for 4 scales of Torrance Tests of Creative Thinking. Also the corpus callosum, the part that connects the left and right hemisphere's of our brains is about 11% larger in left-handed and ambidextrous people and also show more bi-hemispheric cognitive function which may offer cognitive advantages. Having said that, here's some contradicting evidence in children. But yeah, I do read silly articles with lots of bad generalizations about left handers but most of them are just for fun and to make people feel good about themselves. Obviously not to be taken seriously. Cringing is acceptable I also think you can train yourself to be ambidextrous. I mean it's going to be easier for some than others. For me, I think it was just part environment, being left-handed in a right-handed world. There's one or two things that I will exclusively do with my a particular hand and writing is one (left) and the other.. Well, others have made innuendos. I'm sure one can work it out (right). It may also explain how when I learned to cycle on a bike backwards, I learned it very easily. Almost immediately, I was able to cycle on a bike and ride around for a distance and even turn and come back or do cycle in a circle. ṼirulenⱦEqừinox
I am ambidexter but i favor my right hand over my left. My mom told me when i was little before i started in school i was Left Handed and apparently the teacher didn't like Lefties so she would attempt to correct our behavior by forcing us to write/draw with our right hand she ended up getting fired for it but by time that happened i was in 8th grade. I wonder how many pupils she managed to train to use their right hand
