As you can assume by the title, this is a topic about scary stories. Whether it be being slightly weirded out, or feeling like you're going to die, share something scary that happened to you or someone you know here.

Thanks, I don't think we need a new topic. All scary/paranormal stories go there.

Yeah, but that topic is mainly about paranormal stories. This topic is about regular scary stories, not supernatural.

That moment you are in the attic of a school building and the stairs have all been removed and thus you can see the basement from there.

You then have to remove some nails still in the wood close to the edge of that gaping hole and you then realize that if you now would trip or fall over you would be heading for a collision with the floor of the basement that is about 15 meter under you.

I always found that scary as f*ck....part of me is really glad i stopped doing construction work like that.

One thing comes to my mind. At night, cats and birds are often heard on my roof, sometimes even wake me up and each time I almost have a heart attack, thinking someone's breaking in. Always happens when I let my windows open.

Also, I know it's a classic but going downstairs at around 1AM always scares me.

I-I-I bought one of these cute cat charms that plug into your audio jack to keep out dust and debris...but e-e-everytime I go to pick up my phone I get startled when I see him peeping at me...

Well... he said paranormal, which indicates ghosts, which requires souls. Trump's America has no soul.

Anytime I've experienced sleep paralysis. I don't have a specific story, but this sh*t freaked me out as a kid and still does.

It's a horrible feeling being conscious and knowing you're awake like you're being invaded by an entity, but you can't move or speak until it goes away.

I would rather have a nightmare because atleast I know it's not real. When I first started experiencing sleep paralysis I had no idea if it was real or if I was going crazy.

I also used to be afraid of walking through my old house at night without a light on. It had creaky as hell floor boards and you could hear the wind howling through the walls.

I'd take some whack job against violent video games over some backwards ass, bigoted, ignorant, orange cheeto looking man-child trying to start World War 3 any day of the week thank you very much!

If we're going to have a scary story topic, let's have a scary story topic. Cut the spam and political sh*t and get to the stories. OK?

Honestly that idiotic drug addict that begged for money several times back on my trips to my Bf in the Netherlands....

And i dare to accuse him of being a drug addict because he was like a living corpse dressed in trashy clothes and though he might not have smelled like death he smelled dirty...

Though i was not really afraid of him, i am glad that it never touched me to be honest...ugh...

Really, i even take a cuddle of the friendly hobo somewhere in Ghent any day over being touched by that thing with iti's hungry eyes and almost skeleton looking build :v:

This one time, me, my friend, and his mom went to stay the weekend at his mom's friend's house. This is a secluded cabin in the Ozarks, about three miles into the woods from the nearest highway. Anyways, the weekend goes well and we all get stoned and sh*tfaced. Fast forward to Sunday morning when we're all packing up. Me and my friend walk outside to put stuff in the car, and just vaguely out in the distance I hear "Hello!?" echo from the woods. I look at my friend without saying anything and he gives me that "Yeah, I heard it too" look with a sort-of nervous grin. Now we were both hungover and still a little drunk and delirious from the night before, but we both heard it clear as day. The nearest neighbor is a mile away, and assuming it was some hunter, he shouldn't have been there because the surrounding woods belongs to his mom's friend. I yelled "Hello!" back, more than once, but there was no response. We tried to tell his mom what we heard but she just passed it off as us being intoxicated and hearing stuff, but it was there, clear as day.

Also when I was 12 and lived more in town, I was walking around the neighnorbood when this guy pulled up on the street and asked me to come over to him. I was scared, but I was about to walk towards him, when suddenly he shook his head "nevermind" and drove off. I don't know if he thought I was someone else or if he wanted to molest me but looking back I may have dodged a bullet.

Being home alone with nowhere safe to go to as an EF5 tornado is bulldozing it's way through your city with your home being right in the path of it. All the while not knowing if you'll survive should the tornado hit your home while you're still inside. You can feel death coming closer with each passing minute as you sit there in your closet feeling hopeless. You feel an immense amount of fear and you hold back your tears as you are convinced that today is your last day. All of sudden the phone, that you had in your pocket, rings and through the static you can barely make out the words, "I'm down the street and about to pull up to your house. Wait for me on your porch and I'll get you out of here!" You are briefly overwhelmed with emotion and for the first time you feel there is hope and that you will live to see another day. You quickly burst through your closet door and before you know it you are outside of your house, getting in your friend's truck, and getting the hell out of Dodge. Once out of the path of the storm and at a safe distance, you pull over ontop of a hill and watch the tornado cause death and destruction in the city you call home. The city that you grew up in. That hopeless feeling immediately sets in as you realise there is nothing that you can do to save your city or the people that are about to lose their lives on that terrible day. Days go by. Then weeks. Then months. With each night, you dream about that day. You relive it over and over again. It consumes you. Even years later, that day is still in the back of your mind just waiting to reemerge to make you relive that nightmare all over again. Deep down inside you know that your chances of experiencing that day all over again, is still present. You live in a part of your country that's well-known to get tornadoes, of all sizes, during anytime of the year. That monster you had a close encounter with on that day, will always be with you. It will never go away. It will be back as it always will be. It's just waiting patiently to reemerge.

When I was 13 or 14 my brother came barging in my room with a kitchen knife. He said 'hello' in this ominously casual way, closed the door behind him, and then he asked where our sister was. I don't even remember what my response was, I just remember feeling that was how I was going to die. Luckily he seemed to snap out of it and left as quickly as he came in.

This place...i sence danger here in Naples man...

Got lost and i am pretty sure i was being followed by 2 guys for a brief time.

Also some guy tried to sell me a phone for 100 euro's that was obviousy used, but still quite new and not damages, along with a tablet in the same state.

Sure it could have been his but the way how he lowered the price from 300 to 200 to 100 in a few seconds after every no just tells me that thing must have been stolen somewhere.

I've stopped buying a certain big bowl hot and spicy noodles. Delicious but the scary part is when it wants to evacuate itself from your body.

Video game violence & glorification must be stopped--it is creating monsters!

Just because someone doesn't like Trump doesn't mean they would have favored Hillary, either.

OT: When that cop threatened to 'blow my brains out' but I already told that story on here.

The time my friend and I got drunk and decided to venture out into the woods at a local park where we came across this random, mysterious sculpture of a woman that had been carved out of a tree trunk. The f*cking thing was freaky enough, but at that time in the (early) morning coupled with the dark, forest surroundings, I was like, "let's get the f*ck away from here, now". Always made me wonder how much more terrifying the experience would've been under the influence of some illegal drug rather than alcohol.

I once woke up to find a spider on my elbow while living in my first flat. Spiders everywhere in that place. I'd sometimes find one setting up home down the side of the toilet too. And in the bedroom that I never used bees came through some vent. Came home one night to find loads on the windowsill. Luckily they were on an unused curtain that was on said windowsill, and the bees were docile as f*ck so I threw them and the curtain out the window.

Really...even though they actually did it and put a camping, a swimming pool and a recreational yard into the crater, it kinda gives a sence of unease to me.

Also it seems that at one side of the crater they actually had a fire since a few fallen trees are smoldering there and that part is completely blackened.

Heck...i even saw one small fire left !

Could always be it was a controlled fire as to avoid uncontrolable fires in the area maybe, but still...wow...

Menstrual Deranged

When I was about 15, my dad threw a huge party in our backyard. He invited family, friends, neighbors--almost everyone we knew with the exception of one of my uncles who was always getting overly drunk and causing problems. Everyone agreed not to tell this uncle about the party but he found out anyways and showed up.

Everything was going okay for awhile until my uncle had a disagreement with our neighbor's friend. This lead to a huge brawl. At one point, there was a mass of about 20 people violently shoving each other and throwing punches. The more responsible adults were running around, trying to get all the kids into the house away from the chaos. Suddenly, my uncle walked off to his car yelling something like, "You'll be sorry!" and he drove off down the street, burning rubber. No one really knew what he meant. The party started to disperse because the brawl pretty much killed the mood.

I was standing in the front room with two friends, my younger sister and brother, and my brother's friend. Everything was quiet and it had been maybe 5 minutes since my uncle had left. Then we hear this "pop-pop-pop!" coming from a few houses down and getting closer. Took a few seconds for me to realize it was gunshots. I hear my mom yell from the other side of the house, "GET DOWN ON THE FLOOR!" Without pause we all just dropped to our bellies, shaking while more gunshots went off directly in front of our house. The gunfire stopped but then started back up a minute later (my uncle had turned his car around and was coming back). My mom had already called the police because of the fight but now she was freaking out because she couldn't locate my dad (he was still in the backyard trying to clean up). I crawled to the phone (it was a home phone connected to the wall, imagine that), and called 9-1-1. The police showed up soon thereafter and chased my uncle down.

I'd say that was the first truly scary thing that's ever happened to me. I kept waiting for the glass windows above my head to shatter but they never did. Luckily no one was hurt at all. My uncle was just driving down the street shooting his gun up into the air, trying to scare the neighbor's friend, I guess. I grew up in a small town. Luckily, stuff like this didn't happen too often.

Once I woke up to a cockroach on my matress besides me, just there, chillin'.

Back when i was doing my training to get my EMT certification we got a call to respond to a house that had a domestic situation going on and that a 5 year old girl needed medical attention.

When we got there the little girl had so many little welts on her body from her head to her toes even on her private areas these were caused by bedbugs.

After assessing her and ruling out anything life threat hing the Officers on scene were standing around watching footage from one of the officer phone i walked over to tell them we were leaving but before i could tell them the officer handed me the phone and said watch this and he handed me the phone.

The video starts in a semi lighted room with the light on the phone turned on as well the officer was recording video of the floor showing all of the cockroaches running all over the police and then he pans over to the little girl fast asleep and as the officer got closer to the girl and shined the light on her body she had cockroaches crawling all over her face, upper body and arms they all scattered when another officer came into the room and flipped on the overhead light and when he did that the roaches scattered to their hiding place waiting til the next night to come out and do it again.

We took her to the ER to be checked out after she got a some what clean bill of health we asked her some questions and it broke my heart when she said the cockroaches crawl all over her at night but she doesn't mind because they're her friends.

This little girl was abused so bad by her sperm and egg donors that she considered the bugs that bit and crawled all over her body because she was lonely.

At least in the end the story had a happy ending the donors went to prison for felony child abuse and her aunt and uncle took her in and adopted her.

I was about posting someting to that, and how someone would dare to defend Hillary (or mock Trump) if WW3 was really an issue for said person. How ironic. But then I saw Voodoo's post - now that sh*t was scary!

OT: I nearly drowned (broken through ice) when I was a teenager, but I got rescued by a friend who was nearby. Without him, I would be dead by now. That was scary at that moment, but totally funny afterwards. :D Uhm, I was raped. My dad had an operation on his neck because his spinal cord was squished by some deformed vertebra. Me and my mom were visiting him in the hospital. Right after the main operation (which had some complications), he began to shake like crazy all over his body, splitting blood out of his mouth... so back to emergency operation. We both thought that he's dying now, but it was just some after-bleeding, irritating some nerves in the spinal cord due to the prior operation. sh*t was scary, thinking of losing my dad and having a broken mom left.

So after my interest in sleep paralysis yesterday, I decided to check out some more people's experiences with the condition. Eventually I ended up on this website, which has nothing to do with SP but just scary stories in general. Most of them are (apparently) real life events, which I find more entertaining as I'm more inclined to believe them than paranormal encounters, but there are a few paranormal ones too if that's more your thing.

https://thoughtcatalog.com/hok-leahcim/2014/06/27-people-reveal-their-terrifying-real-life-creepy-stories/?utm_source=peoplecreepy&utm_medium=fb&utm_campaign=ad

There are 27 stories in total, but here's one I've plucked out which sounds genuine IMO. A lot of them sound quite genuine, TBH.

My mom had been calling a lot. It was my first semester away at college, and her husband had gone batsh*t insane. He hit her for the first time 4 nights before I moved out. She locked him out of the house and he banged on the doors. In the middle of the night he’d driven away and I hadn’t seen him since.

When I answered, she said she’d gotten a phone call while she was watching tv. The person on the other end of the line said he’d been hired to kill her and her kids but if she could make him a better offer he wouldn’t do it. He told her what tv show she was watching. He told her what dorm I lived in. He told her that my little brother was upstairs playing video games when he was supposed to be asleep. She ran upstairs. My little brother was playing video games in his room. She yelled at him to pack a bag. The person on the phone had hung up. She called me.

I waited for 45 minutes before leaving, hoping my roommates would show up and help me figure out what to do. I’d said call the police but my mom said no. She said please come help her. My roommates didn’t come home. The RA was gone. I got in my truck and made a 45 minute drive in 20 minutes. The highway was nearly deserted. I’d hoped a police officer would pull me over- they’d know what to do and I’d be able to say I hadn’t called the cops. I accidently missed my turn when my mom called me 3 times in a row. I accidently ran a red light when I answered. A cop was right there. He didn’t pull me over.

When I got to our neighborhood I parked 2 streets away and used my ROTC tactical movements to go through alleys to our backyard. I’d tried to call my mother 3 times but she hadn’t answered. I put my phone on vibrate. The gate was closed but when I opened it I saw the back door standing open, light from the kitchen partially illuminating the patio. No one was out there.

I hesitated and went in, calling out softly for our Chihuahuas. They weren’t there. sh*t. Those dogs bark at everything. They were either not in the house or they were dead. sh*t. I got a knife from the kitchen and started a room by room search. Kitchen and laundry room were clear. I refused to check the garage. Dining room – clear. Living room – clear but oh f*ck, there’s a broken vase. Downstairs bathroom- clear. I didn’t go into the master bedroom because I fully expected to find my mother dead.

I needed to get upstairs to the second bedroom on the right, my bedroom, to get my rifle – the only gun in the house. But no one was downstairs and upstairs was completely dark. There was a blind corner right at the top of the stairs- anyone could be hiding there.

I was 100% freaking the f*** out as I climbed the stairs. I got almost halfway up when someone started banging on the front door which is right in front of the stairs. I froze. I turned halfway so no one could surprise me from the second floor.

“WHO’S THERE?” I screamed. My cover was blown anyway. If anyone was in the house they knew I was there now. Whoever was outside could see me through the glass at the top of the door but it was too dark for me to see them. No one answered but they kept pounding on the door. “WHO THE F*** IS IT?” I screamed, now at the base of the steps. They kept banging on the door. “I’LL KILL YOU, MOTHERF***ER” I screamed as I flung open the door, to see my mother standing there with the Chihuahuas in her arms.

“WHY didn’t you answer?!” I asked. She said she wasn’t sure if it was me or not. “And if it hadn’t been me? What were you going to do? Throw the dogs at them?” She hadn’t thought that far ahead.

I told her the back door had been open but she said it’d been locked when she left. I said I’d checked most of the downstairs and was going upstairs for the gun. She said go up and get it, so I went up with my knife and checked upstairs while I was at it. Then I checked the rest of the downstairs. She’d taken my brother to his friend’s house, which is why she hadn’t answered her phone when I’d called.

She’d been driving.

I spent the night barricading the doors and windows and begging her to leave- just leave. She baked me some cookies. Her face was blue and purple from her husband’s last visit. She said my brother had tried to protect her and he didn’t look so great either. I said I’d kill her husband. She said she knew, and so did he, which is why he always left when they called me. (I feel I should mention I’m a chick and he was a good foot taller than me and easily 50 lb heavier, but I WOULD have killed him.)

In the morning I had to leave early to be at PT for ROTC at 5:30 a.m. I’d had maybe 45 minutes of sleep where my mom had asked me to stay on the living room floor outside the master bedroom.

I lost it at PT and then again in my weekly meeting with my athletics advisor. My ROTC instructors and my athletics advisor were horrified. We got a restraining order that day against my mom’s husband. He couldn’t come on campus. I wasn’t allowed to walk on campus alone. My roommates also got extra security.

A few weeks later my mom’s husband tried to kill her on my 19th birthday. He was in his car and he’d thrown her phone (which she was using to dial 911) on the passenger’s seat. She reached in to get it and he grabbed her arm and held on while he reversed out of the driveway and dragged her down the alley. He let go and her head slammed to the ground. She had a concussion. He tried to back over her but she screamed and rolled away. He ran over her foot and hand. Our neighbor came out of her house and screamed, which scared him away. My mom and brother went into hiding that night.

Being on those stairs, certain my family was dead and I was also about to die- that was the scariest moment of my life. And having someone bang on the door and not answer when I’m screaming at them, having to open it while thinking a killer was on the other side… creepiest thing ever.
