In the mission Caida Libre would shooting the plane down be possible in real life

I was wondering in the mission Caida libre Michael shoots down the

plane in 3 shoots to the engine is that possible? Michael uses a remote sniper that is the heavy sniper on a mount with advanced optics. The heavy sniper is designed after the Barrett M107. The plane is at the other end of the CITY! The barrett M107 has an efective range of 1800m so how can it shoot down a plane at a range that is definitly much furthur then 1.8km! Someone please explain to me. Thnx
