Switching to another (retail) version

I currently have a no-cd crack because the European retail version (i bought years ago) doesn't allow any kind of mods. If i download a retail US version from somewhere can i use mods with it? And what will happen with my savegame? Will i be able to continue it? Will it even work here in Europe?

This is PC so there is no difference in save formats between versions.

The game saves are the same IF you have a Version 1 dvd

The Game saves are the same if you have either the Version 2 DVD or Version 3 STEAM Download.

 

IF your game had Mods when the save is made it not expected for the Saves to work on a game that does not include the Same Mods.

 

 

Cracked, Torrents, Warez, Pirated games usually contain some sort of Mod (to avoid using Security Keys). So it would depend on how skilled the Thief was when coding the game.

Originally I have version 2.01 EU (i can even show you my DVD which is named SA_EU_V201B by the way), but since it didn't support modding, i replaced it with this exe. Could you send me a retail version 1 exe? Because of course it's NOT on the internet and i don't want to buy the game again.
