"They say any form of competitive driving requires precision above all else. It's something to bear in mind when you take your turn to launch a sports car hundreds of feet through the air and attempt to parachute in onto the bullseye of a tiny platform. Thread the needle."
2 Teams | 2-10 Players

Do you think that the previous game of ramping off to score points was way too long? Do you think that AFKers are legitimately useless in real life if they fail at such a simple task? Do you think that just pushing someone off the platforms was cheating punishable by forum name-and-shaming and wishes for bans? You used to be ready to rumble, but now you're ready for a f*cking shootout - a shootout that will leave everyone alive in this extremely peaceful battle between a point and death. What, you were expecting to use guns to commit hectic murder sprees as others are parachuting amidst an aerial destruction derby? Ha, good one!

Ahem... so this is Overtime Shootout. Or, how I like to nickname it; "Community Rumble", or "Overtime Community", or "Wishlist Shootout", or, you get the point. This Adversary Mode may be a copy paste of Overtime Rumble but this one answered to the community's wishes and feedback overtime! Which you'll probably end up regretting. Same premise as Overtime Rumble; two teams, every player gets an unarmed Ruiner 2000 in their team color. The players have to drive down the ramp and parachute off onto a point-scoring platform. Overtime Rumble involved pushing other players off the points, everyone starts at the same time, and you had all the time in the world to land on a point. This time, things will be different. Some of the biggest complaints I've seen about Rumble are about people taking too long to land, teams becoming heavily one-sided if someone leaves, and AFKers. Too long to land! Yeah, this time you have the original 30 seconds to make the jump, BUT, overall, you have one minute to complete your attempt. If you wait too long, or fly off the platform, you gasoline-laced automobile will combust into a fireball. If you take too long to score, or land on your roof and fail to turn yourself back around you will not get a point for your team. Players launch one at a time as well, while on the starting line everyone is ghosted similarly to non-contact races or Passive Mode.

r2Ljw3s.png

Scoring! Because this totally needs more explaining. Your personal and overall scores are in the bottom right corner of your HUD. Numbers on the mugshots of players display the current score that a player has, and changes if the player gets pushed into or out of a score's range. To the right of the players' lovely and not-so-lovely faces is the overall score that adds up with every attempt.

...wow, déjà vu. Anyway, I believe the settings are the same as Overtime Rumble so you've got up to seven attempts and up to four rounds. You still get atomized as you fall off, and you still can't move your car forwards or backwards after landing. This time you cannot push opponents off, however. As players launch one at a time in turns, all you can do is land or die. As far as team offsets messing with the team's ability to score, Rockstar listened to that! If a sore, impatient, loser quits on you - that's not a reason to worry. Depending on which team is the biggest, your team will get the same amount of attempts regardless of missing players. Say, Purple Team has five players and your team has only three including yourself. Your team will get the five attempts and the first two players on the attempt queue will fill in the two missing spots like this: Player1, Player2, PlayerYou, Player1, Player2. If you're placed last on the queue and you're the only one who's good, or others are AFKing, you're out of luck, though. In addition to the improved balance, the game calculates the total possible amount of points. In the last few attempts, the game will notify all players how many points are required to win. Assuming one team has an unbeatable advantage, the round can end as soon as attempt 3. In some cases, the players last on the queue don't get to play at all.

pqpz1LF.png

Tactics! Well... there's none. Waiting results in death. But that's the least of your worries. Did you really think the waiting in Overtime Rumble was bad? Here you have to wait much longer. Since players jump one at a time, alternating between the teams, you have to sit in the spectator mode until your turn finally comes. If you're the last in the queue on a full lobby, you'll be waiting up to ten minutes for your turn or the end of the round, assuming the round doesn't finish earlier. So uh... take land on the higher scoring platforms? ...I guess? Physics stayed the same, if you lean forwards you'll fly down faster and stop (and possibly flip) your car on landing, if you lean backwards you'll fly down slower and drive a small distance after landing, and if you don't lean at all you'll just glide down and drive a long distance after landing.

6o56UPn.png

The remaining complaints! They've been all more-or-less explained already. But before I start, the maps have blimps that display the player names on their turn - you name is pretty much displayed on two blimps! How f*ckin' cool is that? Back on track, Rockstar has taken care of the things people complained about. You can still lose thanks to morons who's greatest achievement is being AFK on a team-based mode in GTA, but at least you still get a chance if people can't handle what they've signed up on. You cannot push players off, be a dick to your teammates on the start line, or glide infinitely, and players take turns. On the downside, the rounds have become much more longer and drawn out, and any sort of unpredictability and unexpected laughs have been removed.

MFFAnJq.png

Overtime Shootout is the perfect example of players bitching about things that are perfect, and then ending up ruining them completely in their next iteration because half of this community prefers to draw Rockstar a line of "either you change this or you're C*" than to appreciate what they've already got. Guess nobody has learned from GTA IV's physics, and GTA IV's story DLC's.

Either way, I'll play it because I like this enough to play it and like Adversary Modes in general. This will be the third time in a row I'd be willing to play all the maps and grind some bonus cash.

Speaking of maps, before I forget, played Overtime Shootout II and Overtime Shootout III. Overtime Shootout II is a bunch of layers of rings, while Overtime Shootout III is Overtime Rumble III but with the other half of the platform missing. II is hard to get 5 points on but III is relatively easy once you know where to land and how to stop before falling off. Since the starting ramps for each team are connected together, there is no other end of scoring platform to save you from falling.

What are your opinions of this Adversary Mode? Did you find it to be fun and enjoyable? Or did you find it terrible and a waste of time?

Wild does the feedback on here go to a r* rep?

All I know is that Rockstar has people reading this forum and other websites for feedback and ideas, so it probably does.

What are we up to now, like, 50 adversary modes?

They should of just updated the rumble modes with auto-kick for afk'ers who fail to launch twice, and the air timer they've included in this one.

Instead they release this yawn fest, that's guaranteed never to get played once double cash and RP ends.

This should have been a simple option that you can toggle when loading Rumble, not a complete new adversary mode.

Even more boring that the previous overtime rumble.

Can't they go away from adversary modes already. All the other game modes need some more love, hell even new ones would be appreciated.

Cops'n'Crooks from IV anyone?

Non Funkable Token

They took the worst Overtime Rumble flaw to the next level in this adversary mode.

My impression is that the spontaneity of the original Overtime Rumble will be lost, but as usual, I'll wait until I've had a couple of sessions on this mode before judging it.

it´s not bad ... I enjoyed overtime rumble in the past , and this one is basically the same AM , but with new maps (which is actually the best thing in this new AM)

rumble is more fun though , also more tactical ....

Literally fell asleep while playing it and waiting for my turn. Luckily the other person left not long in to it which saved a lot more waiting and falling asleep.

This is Rhino Hunt levels of bad.

Not quite as bad, but close... The reason IMO, not because of the game mode itself - as we think Rumble is fun, but from the waiting around until your next turn.

My crew and I normally are advocates in favor of and championing the Adv Modes, but this time I can't abide. Overtime Shootout is just an extension of the sudden death from Overtime Rumble. And I wish the maps from this were simply added to Overtime Rumble as new maps rather than a sh*tty version of the previous adv mode.

That's my 2-Cents worth folks!

For my input, I'm simply going to quote what I said out loud when I saw this announced on the loading splash screen two minutes ago while booting GTA up:

"OH FOR f*ckS SAKE NOT MORE OF THIS sh*t AGAIN"

I literally don't think I'm going to bother at all this time, because this time giving the benefit of a doubt seems like a waste of time.

You can literally farm it by getting a controller, holding RB down with something, and going to sleep.

Best adversary mode ever. 10/10

Jk nobody hosts it, rip leeching.

I always approach a new Adversary Mode with an open mind; there are some that I most definitely enjoy playing. However, in the case of this one, it's obviously a very lazy and poorly constructed attempt--especially when compared to the original version (Overtime Rumble) it is based upon. It's kind of like remaking a great film, but cutting all of the worthwhile content and replacing it with sappy, dumbed-down elements that make the end result quite boring and perhaps even alienating for those of us who enjoyed the original.

I said it yesterday, but I could probably load up a round of this, make dinner, finish dinner, and likely have time for a shower before it is my turn to drive down the platform. When people go afk (as they always do) it makes it even worse, but I suppose this kind of thing is good if you just want to f*ck around and collect some easy money. However, enjoyable? No, it's still very much like watching paint dry and it takes away the one thing that made Overtime Rumble so enjoyable--being able to strategically knock other cars off the platform as a risky way to lead your team to victory.

This is quite the epic failure, but I'm guessing that it didn't take much time or effort to come up with this. Once the double $$/RP ends, it will no doubt collect more dust than many of the other just average Adversary jobs available.

yea i dont like this one. it feels like a crappier version of rumble. i liked overtime rumble. it was good. but it really sucks having to watch everyone take their turn. not to mention there was an afk guy on our team. that was stupid. we had to watch this dumbass just sit there. and the worst part about it is that he got a lot of money for doing nothing. we won. we got 140k. it was really cool. but it really pissed me off that this loser got that much money for doing nothing. we did all the hard work and he did nothing. what they should do is have some kind of detection for afkrs. and if they are detected they dont get paid. something like that. i dont know how he wasent kicked. but im not planning on playing much of this. i would have rather had more power mad stuff.

It's kind of depressing to think that people are AFK in this. In a mode where they only get to do something once for a minute (max! usually) every 10 minutes. Holding R2 for a few seconds, deploying a parachute, and at least landing on a 1 takes less effort than making something to eat, or doing any kind of work/task that involves moving.

What I do is watch stuff on YT or browse the forum or something while periodically looking at the game. Once my turn is coming up, I wait for it to come and take it, and then go back to what I was doing. Not sure what's so hard about doing this instead full-on afking. Then again, I bet that most of the AFKers are kids, in fact, today I had an AFKer on my team that was a low-ranker new to the game with a "2003" in his ID and a history of COD/Fifa/WWE games so it wouldn't surprise me if that really was a f*cking 14 year old trying to cheap his way to the top after watching some clickbaiting c*nt on YouTube saying that the best way to earn money is to AFK.

I used to send messages asking AFKers to stop being AFK but now I just go straight to votekick and Report>Other>"AFK in team based jobs". If I end up as the host for the next game, I just kick them from the lobby. f*ck 'em, they want money, they'll have to earn it.

*ahem* AFKers suck. And people who recommend AFKing suck even more.

And unfortunately they won't be detected. A lot of them are somehow smart enough to find a rubberband and attach it to the controller, ironically putting more effort than they would have to by playing the damn thing, so they can circumvent the kick timer. And any more advanced ways of detecting AFKers that doesn't involve actual people is bound to glitch out and target innocent players as well. It's a battle lost from the beginning with no known way to win it.

EDIT:

All of there ratings are in the 50% range. Keep disliking it everyone. lol

Most of those are due to quitters which are equally as big of a problem. Quitting a job through the phone automatically dislikes the job, and that's a common problem with this particular mode since people don't want to sit through the match even if they're winning. Edited by WildBrick142

Overtime Rumble was great. This is not. I waited 10 minutes for my turn and my team lost before I got a turn. Not very well thought out. If they're going to make you go one at a time they should at least scramble the lineups each round. If you're last you might not even get a turn the entire match.
