People been doing this crap since PS3/360 days but never really heard of it until current gen got released. It's the result of using p2p servers. It never happend to me but happened to my friends when fighting tryhards. Just pathetic.

That video is old. There has to be a new method because the old method is no longer usable. The way the names come up doesn't work anymore. You are stuck with a bunch of random IP'S and you don't know which one belongs to who until you start booting IP by IP.

Denial of service is performed against your internet connection, not your console. Saying this can now happen on PS4 is like saying you can now suffocate from your lungs. It's a very incorrect way to describe something that has *always* been possible.

Happened to me once a few months ago. Wasnt a big deal, dude got his ass kicked and that's how he wanted to retaliate, he called us out by name to see our IP packets when we replied, and started crashing us one by one.

 

...But thanks to your dumbass OP, posting a thread about it to the world it will happen first thing tomorrow morning...afternoon...and evening.

 

Why are you watching and reporting the sh*t to us instead calling Rockstar? The f*ck we gone do to solve it? Most "news" you players report these days is pretty much sh*t we already ready know and/or keeping quiet about.

First of all thank you for people in here to relay and respond.

Second: I know its been around since PS3, I have been trying to see how to protect yourself against people who like to do this, If I find enough I information I will make another topic on how to protect yourself (For the people who don't know)

Third: Again as stated I do not support or condone people who do this.

Get a vpn. Install it on your network. Its meant to prevent ddos attacks. Ive been hit a few times last year now ive got a vpn havent had any issues. Apprently im in New Jersery right now. Might have spelt that wtong. Sorry.

A VPN doesn't prevent a ddos. You will still get ddosed but instead of it hitting you, it hits your vpn provider. Sometimes they will drop your connection but you can just revert to your isp assigned ip and continue using the internet. Also using a vpn will introduce latency and much more if your using a foreign one so it's not really recommended for gaming.

You are connected directly to each other while playing, because there isn't an rockstar server.. As in every player is connected to every player that's why the game doesn't work properly compared to a real online game, it's kind of a ... not quite online game. So yeah of course you can do whatever you want to anyone in the lobby. You have their IP, location etc. A VPN wouldn't ruin your gta experience, just make it hard for you to lock on to people and make you hard to hit also.. Maybe the traffic might be slightly more hazzardous than usual but since the game is so laggy anyway, just about usual Cars spawn out of thin air and land on your front window when you are playing with people from the other side of the planet anyway.

A DDOS attack is an attack that is launched by usually another person. It send alot of packs of information to your router ( They can attack it becasue they have your IP) and your router will crash and reset. This may take between 5 mins to 1 hour. Bad connection is when you lag alot, or just have bad internet. They best way to check is to do a speed test you can find. If you have a PS4 or Xbox, there is a built in connection test. If you need more information im here

Sometimes it's serious. I killed some tryhard with my Hydra while he was flying on an Opressor the other day, and he didn't take it so lightly.
