Does anyone else prefer being in Bad Sport?

Since the Oppressor was released I've been blowing up a lot more vehicles. I'm probably not killing any more players than I used to, but there was previously a lot more gun-play involved. Due to this I've unintentionally ended up in Bad Sport twice.

I've started to see it more as an alternative version of the game, rather than a punishment. Sure, there are constantly people off the radar and using Ghost Org to get sneaky, easier kills, but that just makes me play with more awareness of that fact, and it's teaching me to play differently. I'm finding it more a challenge to deal with and eventually defeat the try-hards, and since the sessions are pretty much full of them I'm getting a LOT of practice.

With this in mind, I decided last week to go back in there. I did the required amount of damage and am now in there for 16 days (about 13 left now).

I like the fact that I'm playing with people who don't get upset when I blow their sh*t up. I like the fact that I'm playing with people who use tactics that some would consider "dirty", as it's the best way to learn to defeat them. Sure, I'm taking my lumps and getting killed more than non-Bad Sport lobbies, but the deaths are getting less and the kills are getting higher.

Honestly, the only thing I regret is that when I want to go there I have to potentially grief some players, in order to warrant the punishment.

I just wondered how many others like Bad Sport. I'm sure I can't be alone in this.

Wow, who would have guessed. Killing people who actually want to fight you is more fun than killing people who just want to be left alone.

If only R* understood this and made it an option. PvP lobbies and non-PvP lobbies. You know, like in GTA 4.

Not sure if you were trying to sound clever (the way you worded it does suggest so) but, yes.

I'm asking who else enjoys Bad Sport, so if you don't want to discuss that then please feel free to not post in the thread and visit the off-topic section instead :)

You just can join jobs (races f.e.) and leave them - no need to kill players to earn the BS-points. Works pretty well and fast, too. Less fun (maybe) but a peaceful option.

I hadn't thought of that, so thanks. I'm almost a free-roam only player so would never have thought of that.

bassport is a nice training course for the freeroam warriors, you gonna see every tactic in the book being used there.

its nice and all but it can get tiresome due to the ever increasing sentences that keep you separated from friends.

Do you still have to wear the dunce's cap?

I've been sent there twice. I agree OP, it's an alternative reality like the Hill Valley from 1985 that Biff Tannen ended up running in Back to the Future Part II

I think the bad sport lobby is a stupid idea anyway, I mean you pay the insurance for other players' vehicles so what's the problem?

How is it in a race when the track is full of bumper car crash kiddies that I'm the bad sport if I leave them to it? lol

I think they missed a trick with GTAO, and "bad sports" should instead be sent to Bolingbroke for a period.

Yes you do still wear the dunce cap, but not when you're on a bike so I rarely see it.

And that's a great analogy. Anything with Back To The Future in it is just fine by me :)

I can't say I preferred Bad Sport mainly because I was thrown in there during my CMM run the second time (for the game playing up and kicking me from jobs too) but it was different.

Being punished for violence in a game that literally has a military update with lots of great ways to engage in vehicular violence is preposterous. Being locked out of joining friends in sessions because I'm in the sin bin is not desirable for me either.

Luckily for me, on PC it is basically impossible to get into bad sport because you don't get bad sport points for blowing up PVs anymore.

Honestly the whole idea of bad sport irks me, it is one of the absurd things that come with this game just like the censorship of the in game text chat, it's like Rockstar are saying "Here are all these weapons and cars that shoot rockets and miniguns, here are a bunch of cops and peds who will call you a cocksucker and curse at you all day long but you must not blow up peoples cars or swear at them or you will be removed to the naughty corner"

To directly answer the topic though, when I was sent there on 2 seperate occasions on PC I was unable to find any session with another human in it, so I can't say I enjoyed it.

I agree. It really is preposterous, that is the accurate description of the bad sport lobby concept in GTAO. It should be done away with.

The real piss take is that you can just start a CEO work and blow up all the PVs you want for half an hour with no consequence. The bad sport system is effortless to circumvent now, so hardly an effective deterrent or punishment.

I've had the exact opposite experience in my recent time in there. I do sometimes see sessions with under 10 people, but they tend to fill up, given time. Usually, though, sessions are 25+ players when I join. Obviously if I'm in there to fight then it helps to have a lot more people who want the same!

Let's hope it stays that way.

The game has changed a lot since release though. Currently, BS is irrelevant and should be removed.

On day one, BS may have been worth considering however even then it was stupid. I got thrown in BS in about week 3 for blowing up a tank that someone had stored in their garage (plus a few other cars, like three other cars).

Either tell us to go for an all out war, no holds barred etc. or tell us hostile behaviour is not permitted, remove PvP and be done with it (which wouldn't work since they want PvP in freeroam missions).

BS should really have been removed a long time ago.

No I dont prefer bad sport only because you are so limited. The game has enough restrictions as it is.

However back in the day I did enjoy my trips to bad sport.

Killing randoms in clean lobbies is fun but griefing the biggest trolls/griefers in the game is just a treat lol

I happen across enough tryhards in normal free roam. A lobby full of red-eyed, rebreathered, facepainted players in short shorts and flip flops ragdolling themselves doesn't sound fun at all.

I wish there was a visitors pass to BS lobbies, i'll never experience them otherwise since I can't be bothered earn my way in. I'm happy some players like being there though, must be nice to be in a lobby where you play with like-minded players.

I was in once, liked it, but its difficult to make money, even with friends cause all u do is kill kill kill, no constructive things. If only the bad lobby was just an option for those days that i just wanna fight it would be pretty neet.

I learned everything I know now from the bad sport lobbies... Literally, all my fighting was learned there... That's why I'm such a bastard to kill in normal lobbies. However, with that being said, I will never go back there (on purpose, anyway). I couldn't deal with 128 days of non-stop mayhem. I like a little peace every now and then. :)

Dude, I still haven't been in BS lol. How the hell you guys get in there? All I do is rape lobbies with my Buzzard (you seen me fly) and now with the oppressor, and I have yet to be placed in one and I've had this game since its release lol. Sounds fun though.

It certainly helped me up my game in there. Although I still didn't find any BP Hat/Rebreater wearing wiggle sniper dancing, suicide bombing trolls.

I haven't been there in a couple years. I earned a number of trips there unintentionally. The lobbies were a ghost town back then and I've avoided it like the plague. Are the BS lobbies full now?

Lobbies with 10 people in them, half in jets, the rest in passive mode, that's my experience.

I was in there late 2013 (I think it was), and it was as you describe. These days most lobbies are full and I've not had 1 single disconnection or "every other player left the session" events.

It's just busier and full of people that *want* to fight, which suits me more. There's more easy way out noobs and wiggle-warriors, and nearly everyone looks as vile as the game will allow them to look, but most of the time you can get a good fight going without too much trouble. For me it's all about the Oppressor, and being in Bad Sport has definitely made me better at the one and only thing that was ever a threat - fighting other Oppressors.

Basically, by the time I get out I'll be a LOT worse than I was before I went in :D

See above reply, which I've already explained above is not my experience at all.

I think there should be a new lobby just for the magic epeen riders and in this lobby they can fly around all day long blowing each other up while avoiding any and all hands on combat.

As far as preferring bad sport, I deal with enough marksman dancing, bst and RPG spamming try hard a-holes where the good players are supposed to be, no need to kick it up a notch.

Ha ha, just like prison then!

I love the idea that there's this dark, helllish place full of maniac, red-eyed, white face, rebreather and helmet wearing wiggle noobs running around blowing themselves and everything else up.

Although I've never seen bad sport and likely never will (I'm a 'make love not war' kinda guy), I do understand how playing with like minded persons can be more entertaining.

It's sad you have to go to suck extremes in order to do that though.

The way you seek punishment in order to have fun is almost like a R* imposed sadomasochism.
