Seriously though, contact a lawyer and show him the letter. Most of these court letters are delivered written in an alien language and are hard to decipher. You can't expect us to tell you what it is about when we haven't even seen the letter.

How do you know it's a legit letter though? As fashion had stated, contact a lawyer and show them this letter. They'll be able to tell you if it's legit or not. If it is legit, then they would be able to help you resolve it.

Maybe your dad got caught or a cop ran your plate.Idk my dads in his 60s I cant think of what crime the old guy could have commited.I think like you said a cop may have ran my plate and couldnt catch me because I took the #### off (i have ran into a couple of cops while driving uninsured and unregistered but always hauled ass)

 

Im not sure how much longer I have before the assasins come to silence me, nonetheless I have a pistol with one chambered....im not going to give those bastards the satisfactions of taking me out.

It most likely means it's an arraignment where the charges will be read to you (or you can request a copy of the formal charges) and you will have the opportunity to enter a plea of either guilty or not guilty. If you plead guilty to whatever the charge is the case will move to sentencing, if you plead not guilty the case will be put on the trial calendar.

Im going to start doing that trust me.Was is sent certified? Did it give a real judge's name? If the answer to both of these is "No", something strange is afoot.

 

Just call the court clerk to verify. They really can and will help you.

Duuuude. I got a ticket for expired tabs. Thought if I paid the $110 for my new registration and tabs and showed the Prosecuter I had done so, I wouldn't have to pay the $25 fee for the ticket. WRONG. I had to pay $37 because I used a debit card. I was so pissed. Can't believe they nickel and dime you like that at every level of the system.

 

I got it a lot luckier than some folks though, a lot of people rot in jail due to court fees and unpaid tickets. Unthinkable.

My gut is telling me that this letter is fake as f*ck what with the fake name, censored dates, and fake document number. I also feel like this thread was made as a way for you to get attention. I could be wrong but I'm quite skeptical about all of this. I know that I personally wouldn't had made a thread about something like this on a online forum to get input from strangers if the same thing had happened to me. Instead, I would have immediately contacted the court, that supposedly sent the letter, and a lawyer. But that's just me. Although my gut feeling that I'm having could just be indigestion but, I don't know.

 

Oh and they won't really send a hitman after you. My post about that was a joke and you seem to have taken it seriously. Didn't mean to frighten you.

Im the one adding the censored dates, fake case # and fake names. How young are you that you dont know what a jane doe is?

And yes no sh*t sherlock I know no hitmen are coming for me and no i didnt make this thread for attention im genuinely concerned and its the weekend so you cant call the courts to get any info.You definetly didnt chew your food billy. Also I do not have a personal lawyer as im not rich.

I also recommend staying calm. If you haven't done anything then there's nothing to be afraid of. Once you contact the court and find out it's about your insurance, prepare yourself for that. If that's the case, so be it. Too late to do something about it anyways. Even though I think neglecting a car insurance is incredibly stupid, I wish you good luck.

 

It's quite bizzare that they would send court letters about insurance without any kind of warning. In my country, you're only f*cked if the cops catch you. They got cameras on the roads and highways and through the computer, they see which licence plate is insured and which one isn't. A friend of a friend was driving without insurance for two years with no issues somehow.

(Note that they first see you on the cameras, then send a car after you and control if you have an insurance.)

 

It would be pretty harsh to send someone to prison for this (at least if it's the first offence). A decent fine would be more appropiate imo.

 

Then again, it might just be some retarded fake letter which renders this whole discussion as pointless.

If he was driving and an Officer ran his plates and it came up that the registered owner did not have insurance on the vehicle the Officer would've pulled him over, cited him and towed his car.

 

 

Just call the court clerk to verify. They really can and will help you.

I told him exactly how to do that yesterday, 98% of county courts now have online dockets now to where you just search your local county courts clerk of courts type in your name or case # and if there is something it'll appear

You can't be that stupid, The paper isn't asking him for any money or personal information, It's telling him he has a court date a fake letter wouldn't do that they would call you which counties HAVE DONE to let you know but will never ask for your personal info because they already have it nor will they ask for money, You're mom would be stupid as f*ck to rip up something like that without verifying if it was legit with the clerk of courts which is very easy to do and i have a feeling she isn't as stupid as you are I'd tear it up and forget about it doing that is a one way ticket to a bench warrant for failure to appear where you WILL be arrested and taken to jail where you will sit with NO BAIL until you see the judge who will decide if you'll show up for your next hearing if he doesn't think you will he will remand you WITHOUT BAIL and you'll sit there until your original case is completed and then you'll have the failure to appear charge to answer too and in the end you'll have several thousand in fines and court cost and most likely probation and/or jail time with probation.

Think LONG and hard before you rip up something that could be from the county courts

You can usually search records on-line by accusation number. You'd have to go to the site for the relevant county. Alternatively you can call them and/or show up in person and request the paperwork.

 

Personally, I'd try to find out in advance how serious this is to know how much to spend on the lawyer.

 

But in either case, if you're being summoned to court, you need a lawyer.

Yeah im going to have to call, the county website is trash, they still have information and court dates from 2016 and 2015 and links that all take you to the same page.
