Transferring from PS4 hard copy to digital: potential issues?

My copy of GTA doesn't seem to be working and as it's out of warranty, I'm not covered. So this doesn't happen again, I'm thinking about going digital.

 

Can I download a new game on my PS4 and transfer my old GTA Online character? I'll delete the old disc file, which I know will wipe the story mode save, but what about Online?

 

Is it transferrable? Or is it a cloud save, where my PSN links to my Online character? I need a bit of help.

It's a cloud save, where your account data is tied to the Social Club, which will automatically be linked to your PSN once you started playing GTA Online. So essentially, as long as you've got access to your PSN and Social Club account, you'll have access to your GTA Online character(s) and progress.

 

I guess that means you could use someone else's console to play on your account, but I could be wrong there.

Honestly I couldn't tell you for sure.

 

I guess it depends on how the process goes for the shark card - if the seller just gives you the code to input in-game, then you're set, but if it's something more involved, I couldn't tell you for sure.

Just make sure your characters are registered to Social Club...psn isn't enough.
