I posted something like this a while back in another thread, but here's kinda how I'd like to see it go down.

You want to transfer your character, you have a choice: The easy way or the hard way. The easy way, you fake your death. Agent 14 denies your existence. Your office secretary shreds all your files. Your cars all get sold off to Simeon. LJT torches your biker businesses, and you start over with a couple grand to your name.

The hard way is, you call Lamar and tell him you need his help skipping town. Unfortunately Lamar is a motormouth and let slip you were taking off. So on your way to LSIA every asshole in Los Santos that you've pissed off comes after you. Vagos, Little Seoul gangsters, the Lost, Merryweather, Madrazo, the Ballas and of course the LSPD. You have to fight your way to the airport and barely make it out of town alive. If you're successful you keep some more cash (maybe up to half a million) and whatever PV you drove to the airport (if the car makes it) You still have to start over in a new city, but you're not at rock bottom at least.

I'll take the hard with my Insurgent pick-up custom and still curbstomp every last one of them

I'll probably just eject the GTA 5 disc and insert the GTA 6 disc into my Xbox.

I want my current character to regenerate into my new super duper HD GTA6 character seamlessly like Doctor Who.

Well i think we will be able to transfer our character modell but thats it. We may get some sort of special item (t-shirt saying "I made it in los santos" or something like that) for transfering.

One thing I personaly would like but I doubt will happen, people who own a yacht would be able to transfer this yacht to the next online version.

I´m against a complete new start for two reasons.

-I want GTA Online to become the ultimate GTA including all maps. So current map increased by adding further states VS, LC is the solution.

-I don´t want to lose my loved cars and bikes.

I'm hoping to transfer my character. Not necessarily in GTA 6, more like an extra "chapter" in online ala 3d universe. Still an seperate map, not so much a map expansion as it an additional map. While a new map wouldn't be complete without new radio stations, tv channels, contacts, city/police cars, pay n sprays, properties, offices and such, r* could definetly save a nice chunk of time and money using the current car models and some of the npc's. I know that Liberty City map was scrapped, but maybe they just decided on a different city like Vice or Las Venturas. This would also be a great spot for that "sp dlc" people on these forums demand. It could see Micheal, Franklin, and Trevor go to a new city for an even bigger heist or something. Thus would familiarise player with the landscape for online. Once in gta online, you have no reputation in this new town and thats where your limitations come in. You can pay in-game money to have vehicles imported to your new garage or just start buying cars you dont own already. Obviously this would cost around the price of a full game. Gta 6 would be a completely new beast with "future tech"

Adding more states does nothing for the game as the games graphics become more outdated. If they do not create new GTA they would have to update everything including GTA V. Last thing GTA Needs to be is a MMO that stays the same for 10 years...but just piles more stuff on it.. Its not a MMO.

Infact not creating a new GTA from the ground up just stunts GTA growth.

And you're not losing your cars.. They exist in GTA V/O. If R* allowed cars to transfer over to next GTA.. They lose money big time and the game just keeps getting worse.. This is why a new game/fresh start is needed. Get back to the basics and maybe even correct the big mistakes they have made with GTA V/O

Also... the people wanting to transfer their characters are basically saying NO to a new character creation, better graphics, better player physics. GTA V/O is horrible when it comes to player creation. Nearly everyone looks the same most of the time.. especially when it comes to body type.

This is why R* needs to put this game on the shelf soon.. Stop with the updates and let GTA V/O cool down. Or players are gonna have a hard time letting go and moving on.

It probably won't happen but I would like to be able to use my current GTA Online characters as a father/mother of my next character in the next GTA Online game. We all know that transfering your character's belongings to a new game is unthinkable and it would actually be a good sequel should R* follow this route.

I also think we'll start out leaving prison, imo it's the only plausible way to strip us of everything we attained in GTAO.... Or we're sent away into witness protection. Same deal.

If the next game doesn't improve, I don't see myself transitioning to it at all.

don't worry now-a-days there's over 50 recognized genders i'm pretty sure you'll be able to make your character identify as an attack chopper in the next GTAO ;)Just think of the next version of GTA O as a reboot. Your character from the current GTAO will not have ever existed in the next one.

Does anybody seriously believe there will even be "returning player" bonuses the next time around, or character transfer? I don't. My money is on R* completely ending support for this game as soon as the next one is released. Maybe even sooner if RDR2 turns into their new cash cow.

I personally don't expect anything, i'd like to be surprised when the next one releases. If anything we might be able to keep our character (just the face) but I highly doubt we'll keep any assets or money, and i'm fine with it no matter what. Edited by FlacidJack

I agree with many people, that GTA VI would probably be best as a new start-from-scratch game.

But what about all the people who have spent hundreds or even thousands of dollars on shark cards? Do they move on and consider this money disposable income, gone by the wayside?

Or do they say, what's the point of jets, helicopters, supercars, yachts, boats, flying motorbikes, etc, if we can't move between cities or states?

Why would anyone even consider buying a Luxor Deluxe for 10 M if it remains grounded at Los Santos International Airport? Forever.

I think that Rockstar should expand the GTA online world into other cities so that we can get into our chosen mode of transport and go out there and explore. Find a new apartment, office complex, bunker, you name it, and expand and branch out.

Starting from scratch in GTA '6' would mean everything becoming redundant and having to start all over again. And why would anyone want a second Hydra in a second city, when they already have a Hydra which is perfectly capable to flying reasonable distances?

Id say thats exact the reality people have to deal with.

People who paid money did so optionally. They could have always just grinded/played the game. Paying money was just a way to fast track/bypass playing and grinding. That was pretty much always Take Two/R* GTA O view of the game and how they made money.

I mean really.. If players want to play GTA V/O alls they have to do is load it up. Its not gone.. You just can't take it with you to the next version.. Just like when you die in real life. You can't take it with ya..lol

I mean.. if you take any game and allowed progression to carry over it makes no sense. Unless it was actually created as a story thats meant to carry over like Mass Effect.

To make sure that this would happen, R* would have to carry over at least 400 storageable vehicles present in this game.

And we all know R* likes to add new models to their new games, and some older models gets left behind.

Great Britain

I don't really care what or how they introduce Online 2.0. Playing a well made, not in any way ignored SP due to focus on MP, tops my wish list.

Don't get me wrong, V was great, but it had all good things, including the basic ones sucked right out of it and put exclusively in Online for obvious reasons. I hope this time, things would be planned in a different, more old school way.

Call me a box wh*re but that feeling of un-boxing a game, beats the digital download trend by a mile, at least for me. Oh and that smell of a new disc, fresh out of the package. <3

@.Voodu. as an occasional player of star trek online and dc online, you aren't wrong. However, graphics have always been the sacrifice in GTA, "ok" graphics in return for phenomenal gameplay. No GTA has ever been on the cutting edge of graphics. Eh, maybe they can do both. Keep gta online going with new cities and and such and use the numbered titles to advance the franchise with a stronger focus on story and gameplay. We all know they have the money to take the risk

I'd rather not have VI online like the current one thank you very much. Never. It changed Rockstar for the worst.

If VI has the focus of online multiplayer, it's a confirmed kiss goodbye to single player, f*ck that.

They may not be on the cutting edge of graphics. But was far a open word, NPC, sound/audio and graphics combined. R* is the best at that.

I mean.. Just look at how much GTA V looks have changed when compared to GTA 4.

Alls i know is im dying for a new GTA.

Let's be real for a second. The GTA Online protagonist is a canon character and is as important to the franchise as Niko Bellic or Michael De Santa is. No protagonists have ever appeared as a playable character in the next game. Knowing that bit of info, why would the Online protagonist be any different? He wouldn't. There is no reason whatsoever for Rockstar to have the GTA VI Online character be the same as your GTA V Online one.

Also, you have to think about something else. Who's to say GTA VI will take place in the present? What if they go to the past? Then the Protagonist of GTA Online could not be the same character. There are so many factors that must be put into play for that to even happen! And our Protagonist is canonically a rich, criminal mastermind who is the Kingpin behind all drugs, arms, and vehicles trafficking that goes in and out of San Andreas. So what reason would he (the Protagonist is confirmed as male) have for doing another heist? He may be crazy, but he isn't going to risk it all over a simple million bucks.

Grand Theft Auto V or GTA Online - pick one.

Mqaig94.jpg

I'd be most interested to see if they decide to bring RDR2 to PC at all, and if they'll even bring GTA VI to PC, let alone the online counterpart. They'll probably take the route of "shark cards are king" and "forget dedicated servers".

There's no reason for them not to, they're making money. What they're doing is actually really f*cking smart.

They release a game on consoles and thus locking out all pc users, assuming that the game is good there would be a sh*t ton of hype around it and the idea of bringing it to pc, and when they do people will buy the game again just so they could play it on pc and enjoy the most out of the GTA experience.

It's not all just "we don't want people to pirate our game very easily" as I've heard peeps say before, but rather a very well planned out business strategy.

Big companies like Rockstar don't just make random decisions, there's a lot more to it than you think.

You shouldn't be looking at it from a moral pov, you need to think about the business side of it.

On topic, if they optimize the game as well as they did with GTA 5, I'm sure it would be just fine. They just need to avoid getting rid of big or even small features that mean a lot to players, because that's usually the type of thing that could very easily affect ones decision on whether to buy the game or not.

looking forward to a new character creator. hopefully it gives us way more options, so that everyone doesn't look like each other's sister or brother.

I'm really hoping that when the next GTA game eventually comes out that we get to start from scratch for the online portion with a new character starting from the very bottom. Ideally I'd like a clean slate with everything like rank/RP (assuming Rockstar use the same leveling up system), K/D ratio and records like race wins etc.

Clean slate, new character with some kind of GTAO returning player bonus(es) + cross-promotional goodies for those also on RDR2.

we would get the transfer option, only our character would transfer tho, no money, cars, properties etc etc

upon transfering our first mission is set in los santos, where a butched mission with agent 14 ends up with us fleeing the city, leaving everything behind.

that way everybody starts VI on a even playing field

I could go with that. Presumably if R* introduces a new character creator (for those starting fresh in GTAO2) our existing characters would just get...remastered...for want of a better expression?

Making a sequel is a losing proposition. Micro transaction based games like this earn money because of emotional investment. If someone has played this game for 5 years and spent a thousand dollars on it then you tell to buy the new game and spend another thousand to get essentially the same thing most of them will not. This is why games with this financial model basically never see sequels that are as successful as the original.

Games of this type add on and give players the opportunity to spend even more money while retaining what they have.

A successful future to GTAO would likely be to add land masses that can be traveled to by the airport and not one continual map, this allows for a massive financial advantage for Rockstar. Add Liberty City or San Fierro, Las Venturas, what have you.

With this model players would lose nothing, but have the opportunity to buy new clothes, properties, businesses, cars, and everything else again. The new land mass would not have access to the vehicles that are in San Andreas. You could pay a steep cash price to move a car between them, say 50k per car and 150k per aircraft, each time you want to move it back or forth. You could avoid this buy buying a new car to keep on the new land mass. When a vehicle is moved it exists only on the land mass it is moved to. You can only call in cars/CEO vehicles that reside on the land mass you are currently on. When doing jobs or missions on that land mass you only have access to the assets you have there.

They could migrate the entire thing to a new graphics engine if needed, this is done in long term online games as it is. Offer another chance to refreesh a character with a new character editor. This idea allows for these things.

This model gives Rockstar the best of both worlds. Players lose nothing, they stay invested in the game, and whales keep spending and yet have hundreds of millions of new assets they can buy and spend shark cards on. players have far more to earn.

The next GTA will be amazing, I think it will be a fresh new start for online characters....possibly car collection...if said cars return (maybe)

but it will be a whole new engine made on the current gen....remember GTA V is old an old gen polish....when I think of that i am amazed, an old gen polish lasting this long and being this popular....outlasting games that are newer and made specifically for new gen

props to them I say
