So I would like to just stop with gaming for a while and to get rid of my PS4. Also, I would stop playing GTA because after 3 years I believe I had it enough.

However, it is hard to make a choice what to do with my account. I did invest a lot of time in playing this game and I am little bit sad just to delete it, but at the same time I really want to stop my gaming addiction and show myself I can do 6 months-1 year without any video games.

What would you do? Kill your character or let it be someone else?

Also, I am not trying to sell my account here, I know it is not allowed, but I would like to know does completely clean 515 level account has any value? Because if it doesn't maybe it is not worth the hassle of selling it and I am not even sure what would I had to do in terms of social club, my email etc....sounds complicated.

Thank you

Flying off into the sunset.

Oh, selling? Nah I wouldn't sell my account or Xbox One PS4. I still have an ancient PS1 somewhere around. I think.

Delete it from my Steam library. Because I have the PC version, not the PS4 version, OP.

Trouble is I have to sell my PS4. For me, it is hard to do anything else during my free time except for gaming. And that has to change. I want to read some books, start jiu-jitsu lessons and probably get some cheaper old truck to restore it or at least to try.

Only thing that is stopping me right now is my GTA character and it's kinda hard to part with it but it has to be done, one way or another.

Giving/selling account would at least keep my character alive but at want cost? Would future owner be someone driving around in a pink Kuruma with green wheels? Griefer in a Hydra? Would my precious classic car collection be sold to finance Opressor?

If you can ignore it when it's right under your nose, then the addiction is completely defeated.

Eh, I'm just talking sh*t to be honest. I guess I just couldn't bear to sell a console.

I'm pretty sure you can fight the urge to play if you try hard enough.

Trouble with selling the game and/or console is that the chances of you regretting it later down the road are highly likely.

Take a two/three month break from Online and come back if you still have an urge to play in this virtual world. If not, then good riddance I guess lol

What is this supposed to be? What about you just stop playing the game and leave it be? Or return to it every now and then if you feel like playing it again?

You say you want to devote yourself to other hobbies, and your current one takes all of your free time. It's not the game's problem then, it's yours if you can't focus on couple of different things simultaneously. Give me one reason why you can't read a book today. Just one. Or look for a pick-up truck on the internet?

Passions aren't mutually exclusive, for f*ck's sake!

@ Nihilist

It depends. My vice is gaming. Nothing else really. I still do other things but not as much as I would like too.

This time it is only about GTA Online. That is only game standing between me getting rid of my PS4 and not getting rid of it. I almost completely stopped playing other games, for me gaming is getting boring in general.

That is why I am curious to see how others would prefer to end your GTA career because sooner or later it is going to happen. And because of invested time and effort, it is a hard decision.

Just get yourself banned; it doesn't seem to be that difficult these days. You could likely have an epic final session if you play your cards right.

I admire the notion that you're out to better yourself, but I personally would not do anything with my PSN account or GTA character; I'd just leave it alone and know it is still there if or when I were ready to return. If you don't pick it up again, no harm done--it isn't costing you anything. I have my PS Plus membership set to auto-renew each year, so that would be the only thing I'd have to officially cancel.

I wish you the best with conquering the addiction; though I myself am an addict and have been one since my childhood Atari/NES days. I suppose that much like most things in life, moderation is the key here, but I'm sure that a good portion of us play more than average. It's entirely subjective though, just do what feels right and what will make you happy. Honestly though, if I didn't have gaming, I'd likely be quite unhappy overall, but I won't go there.

Either way, I wouldn't advise selling your account. You could always make a new one in the future, but you seem to still have an emotional connection to it. Keep it.

Good luck!

I haven't even touched my copy of GTA V in 5 days.

OP, I wouldn't recommend selling your console or your account. Would it really be worth it? There's a good chance you'll regret it down the line because addiction is cruel like that.

If you want to wane yourself off GTAO, try to find easy things to pick up and to fill out your free time time. I've been reading a fair bit lately and it's pretty much vaporised my desire to play GTAO. Find a genre you like and just go to a library or something.

It may be a small start, but as they say, Rome wasn't built in a day.

I'd donate my PS4 to R*
except inside the PS4 it has many small roaches all strappin a mini explosive with the explicit directions to nuke R*'s sh*t servers.

So there is no other option, but deleting/selling?
Also why PS4 only?

Do you really need such cut. If I would be in your position I would start playing less.

Just keep your console where it is. Even if you start just playing once a week in the evening for few hours it´s okay.

I wouldn't sell my console. Even if the game would start to be boring to me. I´m sure I would come back from time to time. It does not stop me from doing other things.

My character never dies. I use her in every single game I play because her spirit lives on. When I leave GTAO she'll come with me to my next game and so on.

I won't be selling my PS4 or my account. I have a job so I would never sell a gaming account for a few dollars, especially considering how many memories I have on here, memories are irreplaceable.

Confused about title and content of OP.

Regarding title - move/transfer to GTA6/GTAO2 - that'll end my GTA5/GTAO career.

Regarding content - please read "Regarding title" above

Sas, mate, do not SELL your console.Selling console is weak and it's a half-measure since eventually it's an open road to buy it back and fall into abyss again. If we're talking addiction, consider harm reduction and dosage control. But the key for that lies outside gaming and GTAO. If you're working, go hit the gym (harder), start swimming/ kayaking/ boxing depends on your social preference and physical condition. Consider getting a part-time job. Start learning foreign language, read more books and explore your music taste (try classical music, it's mandatory). Long story short, you need to fill your life with more events, responsibilities and fun not from gaming. Do not procrastinate and do not fill your spare time with gaming completely.

Start small: play less (set strict goals like 2 hours per day) and listen to new music or podcasts when playing. Doing HH and waiting for a cooldown? 25 push-ups will do. Start linking gaming and new IRL activities. Go further, set gaming-free days and then weekends, filling your time with more IRL stuff. Pay more attention to your partner, if you have one. If not, keep your eyes open. If you can afford it, travel a bit

I'm following what I'm preaching: I'm cycling 3-4 times per week (20-25 km each) if the weather allows, hitting the gym 2-3 times and keeping my Sundays completely empty. That's beside job of course, where I'm hitting these forums for lulz and wasting my time lately, waiting for my contract to expire.

Just ignore the Ps4 but don't sell it! find something that you love doing, something passionate, if you want to learn some martial arts? Do it, want to restore a car? do it, eventually you will forget about the game and working on something new, like your martial arts or your vehicle restoration project, it's hard in the beginning but you have to start somewhere, this is what i do when i'm in high school, i try to find something that i liked, and for me it's music and tech, so i can do something else rather than constantly grinding ps4, you can do it man, trust me, i've been there before...

I'd never sell my PS4. I would just let Rockstar delete the account when these GTA Online servers go the way of the dodo.

Stopped playing GTA Online on PC around mid 2016 with my bank account being f*cked. Moved on to Insurgency after that then another genre.

Yes, including only 1 of the 3 current platforms seems is, how shall we say - limiting?

So there is no other option, but deleting/selling?
Also why PS4 only?

As for me, why would I sell my PS4? Just because GTA:O gets put out to pasture doesn't mean I stop gaming.

Who seriously considers selling their PS4 because they stop playing one game?

As for the end of my GTA:O career, it's pretty much there. Stuffed full with garages full of $900k Elegy Retros, more money than I'll ever need in the game, nothing really left to buy as it's really trended towards over-priced recycled mechanics under shiny new pixels targeted at PVP tryhards and people who think fetch and return in public lobbies is AAA gaming along with those who willingly pony up for those kesh kards.

I retire stinking rich with nothing of interest left to really do. So my characters sit in their Paleto Bay homes feet up after aquiring their millions and passing on the insipid PVP paradise R* has forced the game towards.
