Convicted Prisoner Update Concept

"The bigger they are, the harder they fall."

They say the best criminals never get caught but who said you were the best?

Yesterday you were a Kingpin thinking you had friends in the FIB. That's history. Now you're convicted for drug trafficking, Grand Theft Auto and gang affiliation. You're lucky that's all they charged you with!

Case closed. Mind you, this isn't going to just be a slap on the wrist. Bolingbroke Penitentiary is going to be your stomping ground for a while -if you keep your mouth shut and play your cards right you might see the inside of your daft apartment once again.

Be processed as a registered convict and don the orange one piece all in the name of your criminal empire. You'll be one of the greats and a lot of great criminals have seen the inside of a cell block once or twice. All good things must come to an end, luckily Lester Crest has some ties with guys on the inside. If you're willing to cooperate I would say you have a lot to look forward to. A glimmer of hope amongst the petty life of Los Santos rejects. That's the best Lester can do for now.

You will have a number.

You will have a cell.

You will workout in the yard.

You will learn from the best.

You will earn your respect.

You will be a kingpin once again.

Your friends on the outside (in freemode) can break you out as a heist but they must be wary. If they die or get busted then they're likely to share the same fate as you. Lets hope you're worth the heat and if not, you'll be your own best friend. This heist is for the most part improvised and will not be possible until you have served a certain amount of time. Each day that passes will say "DAY PASSED" or "DAY (insert number) PASSED.

This update is meant to be interactive, deep in rollplaying and innovative for freemode and cannon with the timeline of your character.

This update can introduce RPG elements for your character. You can work out, learn different fighting styles and communicate to NPCs via selecting dialog from a pop up menu. As a criminal these skills will propel the narrative further and immerse you into your characters situation. An update like this will take your characters abilities to the next level. This could lead to a narrative of redemption for your character featuring the criminal underbelly of San Andreas like you've never experienced it before in GTA.

Missions: When you first start out no amount of street credit will buy you respect. You'll have to earn that and in order to do so you must flock to who you can trust. A friend of Lester is your best bet. Work with him and you can both progress faster. Give him the cold shoulder and you'll be flying solo. With each mission you complete in the confines of the prison you can either do it the hard way or the smart way. You haracter might stick to old habits or discover some new ones to get the job done. Some missions will require you to gather supplies to craft tools like shanks that are valuable and can then use them you defend yourself assassination hits for other prisoners. Shank for hire missions will require you to make choices. You can side with the victim and grow your contacts list or you can kill them -creating a domino effect. Missions could require you to start a fight to distract officers from another crime taking place. You'll take the fall but in the long run you will be compensated for. Get the ball rolling and you might see more opportunities come your way. Who knows you could eventually operate an illegal market, bribe prison guards and manipulate the system that got you in there in the first place if you so chose.

Gameplay: Crouch, prone, fighting style, exercise, tattooing other prisoners or receiving exclusive tattoos on you for your progress in the ranks.

Narrative: If you manage to rise through the ranks and you have NPC contacts within the prison that trust you, you could even plan your own escape with them. You're in prison for a reason, not to just wait it out and rot.

An update like this could be a story online DLC because it would be for your online character and introduce them to a new perspective and challenges both morally and physically. The new skills like physical strength from working out, crouch, fighting styles would all carry over to your gameplay after you leave the prison and play as you were before entering. This would give a large incentive for players to enjoy the update because it would expand on their overall abilities.

I'm going to keep updating this post because there is a lot more detail and pictures that I want to articulate this concept with.

As much as I like the concept, it sounds like a whole new game concept. I just don't see how this kind of thing could be implemented into freemode and it's too big to be separate, but hey who knows.

This is definitely something that someone should make for FiveM, if it wasn't already done.

So...The Escapists: Molester Edition?

I'm in. Is there a module to sign?

I agree with the guy above though. This sounds like a completely new game and I highly doubt that R* is willing to give it a try. No expensive vehicles/weapons/clothes = no profit

There are lots of games that are similar to this concept but as I said, we'll never see it in GTA: Online

No thank you. I've been locked up and it sucks and I'm not going to waste my time on a video game version of prison.

this seems more sp type stuff

This!

Only good thing about this is we wouldn't have to eat the prison food

I agree that it would work better as an entirely separate game.

Questions:

Would this be forced upon all of us no matter how we play? For example, I don't do public free roam and have taken a pass in regards to both MC businesses and Gunrunning, so would we have to do something (within public free roam) in order to trigger our prison sentence or would we just sign in and have the *surprise* waiting for us?

If it were to happen to everyone, how can our friends from the outside help when they'd be locked up right along with us? Or would this be restricted to friends who have already escaped or were released? Are there instances where you're just f*cked and locked up forever? Would you be unable to partake in non-free roam jobs whilst being incarcerated?

Would male and female characters have their own separate prisons? I'd hope so for obvious reasons.

It's an interesting concept, but I don't think it's meant for the current state of GTA. Though a prison experience RPG game could be quite interesting if it were done properly.

I like realistic DLC concepts. Realistic as in they could actually be implemented into the game, not realistic as in "immersive gameplay". And this update does not seem realistic at all. There is no f*cking chance in hell that r* would ever implement immersive and deep roleplaying elements to GTA Online. Do the kids that buy shark cards care about deep roleplaying mechanics? No, they just want to have unrealistic tacticool military equipment to grief those poor single digit rank players and luxury sh*t to flaunt their virtual wealth with. And what does Rockstar games care about? Shark card sales.

Military sh*t = kids = shark cards = C* is happy

Deep roleplay = doesn't appeal to kids = no shark cards = C* is not very happy

After completing all the heists, importing and exporting 1 car/selling atleast 1 crate/selling mc stuff/selling gunrunning shipments, it unlocks

A cutscene (or something else) happens where we get busted by agents/military/agent14 turning his back on us... and then we get sent to prison but Lester lets us know that our money is safe in an Offshore account.

This will never happen, but its nice to create a little story

Too much change to original code would be required. Original code is left untouched due to instability.

What's to stop someone flying overhead and jumping off of their Oppressor, letting it land in the yard for you to jump on and fly on out? Can you imagine the fun a jet could have with the cannon aimed at the prison?

Too many play solo too, if they get locked up they need to wait until released to get out since nobody would help them. I don't know about you but I wouldn't want to turn GTA on to be stuck in a prison yard and play a completely different game.

Just buy The Escapists

Totally agree with -LN- and DemonicSpaceman, it's a great concept imo since we've been playing criminals for a long time and haven't even seen the inside of a cell but it would have to be outside of freeroam imo, otherwise the prison skies would be littered with armed aircraft pounding the courtyard with constant explosions.

If it was in freeroam it would probably look something like this...

flock.jpg

But if they made a story out of it I would definitely try to get arrested just to experience it.

"Wah wah wah, Rockstar wont do it cuz no sharkcard sales.":cry::cry: For the love of #$%^ shut up about shark cards.

How about you can now pay your way out of prison. There, now Rockstar has a reason to implement this DLC.

OP I like your concept.

It's basically the game ''A Way Out'', a game about being a prisoner, which was shown at E3 this year.

This could work. And this could sell Shark Cards. Your character has to pay 1,000,000 a day to the Aryan Nation to avoid getting "The Otto Treatment".

This is would work for GTA: Online in GTA VI if we're allowed to keep our characters. My premise would be that your character has been caught, been convicted, and had his or her assets seized. When you load up in GTA: Online in GTA VI, you must coop with 3 or 4 other prisoners (online players), in order to bust out. Instead of meeting Lamar and going racing like we did when Online came out, you'd be meeting the inside of prison cell in GTA VI's version of Online upon start up for the first time. After you bust out, you'd have to rebuild your criminal empire. There would be a small backstory when you load up for the very first time. Maybe a cutscene of your character being convicted in a courtroom, and a small description of how you were caught and what you were convicted of in the form of dialogue from the judge as the judge sentences you.

It's a terrific concept for the next interation of Online. Rockstar would be silly not to run with it.

Orange Is The New Black: The Game

I already have the glasses and resting bitch face

Let's do this

TBH I like the sound of it - I enjoyed The Escapists but was left wanting - and it might be cool as an alternative to the usual aimless free roam experience. As I'm not into Adversary Modes (despite trying my best to see the appeal and failing every damn time) I'd welcome something different to do while still playing GTAO :)

Could you imagine GTA VI starting out with the main character serving time in a prison and the first 20 hours of gameplay is you planning your escape with a few supporting characters. So you to bust out and then you are a wanted escaped convict dropped into a massive open world where you're constantly learning about the main character and his gloomy past. Could you imagine the cycle of highs and lows if you could end up in prison just like you started out or that was the ultimate punishment but leads to more backstory. GTA needs to be more mature and do something sophisticated with the gameplay, narrative and freedom for the player. I've made up my mind. THIS is exactly how I want GTA VI.

Agreed. Time spent in prison in this game series should be reserved for a mission or optional aspect of gameplay. Forcing it as a linear experience at considerable length kinda puts it at odds with the open-world nature of GTA and risks a lack of engagement from players.

Part of the reason I found the Heists boring to be honest. Too linear, too long. But I do like the idea of factoring in the prison setting a little more in what is supposed to be a crime themed game.

I would use the prison as an optional alternative to bad sport lobbies. If you get sent to Bolingbroke, you serve a relatively short countdown timer sentence where any escape or breakout by friends prior to the end of that period leaves you with a permanent 5 star wanted level.

You wouldn't be able to access any of your properties during the sentence period, nor change from your prison uniform. If you break out or go on the run, you would appear on the radar with a $9,000 bounty.

Whilst inside you may encounter other players also serving sentence, and there could be other things to do.

I think it could work in the general framework of GTAO, the prison environment on the map is criminally underused, pardon the pun.

Can we fast track for that shank ? Lol

Could you imagine? You would have to unlock every part of the shank from the handle to the blade to the tape around the handle so you can grip your shank better, at the end of the day that little shank you are hiding up your ass will cost ya 250,000 bucks easy.

This sounds interesting but its just kind of too off base for me as to what type of game GTA is supposed to be. I always thought it would be fun though if bad sport people went to prison instead of another lobby. Just lock their character in there so they cant get out unless they some how manage to escape.
