That's great news. And hopefully means they'll add more content, for a couple more years.

I love how you keep seeing the same people bitching and whining about how terrible this game is, yet they play it a lot and visit this forum every day. Gtao ain't so bad, it seems.

Well good thing the servers are sure running as long its a cash cow, but im sure a new GTA6 would sell like hot cake too.

Wouldnt trust them on the single player part though after 4 years gta5 they cared less and less about it cause its not the moneymaker.

Maybe they drop the number and release a "GTA Online (insert buzzword)" cause the big cash is the online gaming nowadays.

Would bet the next gta got a bigger shop too, not only shark cards...there lots more opportunities as other games with microtransactions show us.

Pay per car with real money? ^^

Not that i would like that but sure a possibility.

R* have no point of makng storymode DLC, its cheaper to do some decent quality content for online and get more cash.

That's why i believe there's won't be any SP DLC for RDR2 and other future titles.

Shame. They don't really deserve it to be honest.

I hate to agree but I agree.

rip single player, my tears from mafia3 are still not dry...

such good opportunities so much failure on many things.

A new single player gta would have enough potential.

But as you said, a new gta online would be double cash... the purchase and the microtransactions,

the profit is just too enormous to pass onto that. And profit always comes before human interest, we learned that from other companies.

I should be cheering for them. I'm glad that GTA:O is still going very strong. On the other hand we will get more cash grab, overpriced DLC's of dissapointment.

Hopefully that changes and we go back to good ole DLC like I/E, FAF, Heists and etc.

This last week has been the best money making period for me too; at least since the good ol' days when dead hookers in my passenger seat made me tons of money. Who knew just starting up a game of darts could be so profitable:-) Take Two can suck my megalodon shark, I'll never have to buy fake currency with real money to play the game. The site that must not be named is the antidote to this microtransaction / "recurrent customer spending" poison...

EDIT: I feel like I should elaborate as I am conflicted on the matter.

I'm happy that GTAO is still successful - it means more chance of long-term support and additional content if the Powers That Be consider it a title worth investing in.

But right now I feel like we're well on the way to turning GTA's online experience into a poor tribute act for Saints Row and Battlefield. The kind of updates we're currently having appeal to a demographic that's already being catered for extensively (and brilliantly) elsewhere.

I want this game to be wildly successful, but if this is achieved by selling overpriced G.I. Joe toys and pandering to fads instead of creating content that helps enhance the tone and context of a crime-themed game in a satirical portrayal of contemporary America I think I'll be looking for something else to occupy my time.

Long-term it'd also mean the decline and destruction of the franchise as a Jack-of-all-trades cannot go toe to toe against a master of one... and GTA was this already. The quest to get All The Money is just watering things down to the point where it all becomes bland and a bit 'meh' - and the worst thing any game can be is mediocre.

Does anyone know for certain what R*'s (or T2's) End of Life policy is, like how many years after 'shutdown' the games are supported? I can see the accounting treatment has changed for GTAO but not sure what this says about expected life of DLC.

who would of guessed rehashed stuff makes profits...

There are a lot of new players who started GTA:O just recently. So, everything is new to them and the stuff doesn't appear as "rehashed".

Just taken this from the actual Take Two earnings document this morning.

Single player DLC may well not be dead.

Fiscal Year Ending March 31, 2018

As a result of its better-than-expected fiscal first quarter 2018 operating performance and improved outlook for the remainder of the fiscal year, Take-Two is increasing its fiscal year 2018 outlook for Net Sales and net cash provided by operating activities. In addition, due to the continued success of Grand Theft Auto Online and other factors, the Company has determined that it is necessary to extend the life of Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online for purposes of calculating deferrals. As a result, and also due to higher expected internal royalties driven by the strong performance of Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online, the Company is reducing its outlook for GAAP net revenue and GAAP net income.

^ That just says "we're booking income further out than we planned", it's accounting/tax stuff, not operational.

GTA5 is what you have to buy to access GTAO. Printer, printer cartridge.

I really hope they make two separate games next time so both get quality development. They feel like two different games at this point anyway.

Not to me, from my experience whenever this has been discussed at board level in those terms, your're told find something new to make more money from an existing product. Online is blatantly to keep it ticking over for longer than expected revenue wise which makes sense to what you say. GTA V is pure money grabbing dlc from a shareholder point of view.

I like the idea of the community grouping together and using the game engine and assets to make something better.

Unfortunately it would just take too long.

Work on Enderal began when Skyrim was released in 2011. It was just released last year. We just don't have that kind of time frame. I'm not trying to diminish anyone's talent, or the idea that it could be great. I'm sure it could be awesome. It just needed to start in 2013.

Can all parents keep their wallets sealed when their 12-year-olds come screaming for cash cards, please? They're not eligible by age to play the game anyway.

You guys are funny. I for one am happy that GTA5/GTAO is still going strong. It's the best game I've ever played and I am happy that this means more content in the future. It is a lot better than Rockstar pulling the plug on GTAO so I don't see what is the problem here even if I thought gunrunning was cheesy. I also haven't even got to 50% in the story mode so I really don't care for a SP DLC, I just play online.

Cheers Rockstar, you made a great game (as always)

According to Strauss "f*ckface" Zelnick, he still believes that Take Two and Rockstar aren't milking GTAO enough, even when it's making them this huge amount of money that could fund 4 future GTA titles of the same scope as GTA V.

Now this amount of success will influence Rockstar to rehash the Gunrunning formula again with obscene paywalls ripped off from mobile app games and idiotic meme vehicles that it ironically made GTA much more disgustingly outlandish than Saints Row.

GTA VI will look like a much bigger mistake than we could possibly imagine. Hell, RDR2 might have lime green unicorns and pegasus with mounted golden-plated laser guns for all we f*cking know.

They have never shut a game down yet, GTA IV is still running. As I've said a millllllllion times there is no reason to shut down a game ever, especially one like GTA which uses almost no servers, as players numbers drop it'll use even less. 20 years from now it'll all fit on one box. The answer is simple, they will never.

These kiddos using mommy's money to have everything on day 1 are really f*cking this game.

I'm kinda surprised how quickly everyone in the lobby seems to have all the gunrunning gear, not everyone that plays grinds this game to death or glitches so there must be plenty of people with more cash than brain. Or so much brain that cash irrelevant.

They're not going to shut the servers down, just stop adding new content updates. Sounds like we could've seen the end of GTAO by the end of this year but with this extension Summer/Fall 2018 (or maybe even earlier, sometime before/after RDR2's release) seems like a good bet.

so....

LC map expansion?

If there ever was a plan for a map expansion (that LC screenshot with V's RAGE) it's not a thing anymore.

LC map expansion?

Of course not, why spend time recreating a map just for a $20 DLC when they can rehash a Heists Update vehicle with minor tweaks to its customization and get loads of sales for $20-$50-$100 shark cards?
