The Sultan RS Cup!

20:00 BST/19:00 UCT

 

One of the best cars in the game in my opinion, but due to the fact C* put it in the wrong class it rarely gets raced.

This is a shame as it handles brilliantly and is very fun to drive!

 

But now you have the chance to race it competitively for one night only. Welcome to the Sultan RS Cup!

 

To clarify, you will need a Karin Sultan RS (Super class, 2 door, bennified version)

It may be fully modded and customised however you like but no off road tyres.

(It will be an all tarmac affair)

 

The night will consist of a playlist of 5-6 medium length races (10-15mins each)

All using our Sultan RS's.

 

The tracks will be a mix of street tracks and realistic stunt prop tracks. (No actual 'stunt' tracks with jumps etc)

 

The playlist will be posted in advance once sorted.

 

Format

 

The night will start with a brief freemode meetup to show off our cars.

 

(Don't worry if you can't make the 20:00 BST start time just join when you can, we have alot to get through and don't want it going on too late)

 

There will be no qualifying to save time, but we will be shuffling the grid for each race, you won't start from the same place every race. So don't race from the start.

 

Racing Rules

 

No kerb boosting. Let me clarify this though. Going over the kerbs on the inside and outside of corners on the racing line is ok. Weaving on and off kerbs down the straights is certainly not!

 

I shouldn't have to say this but race clean at all times. No pitting, weaving, using the car in front as a brake etc...

 

Some of the tracks used will be tight street tracks so please be patient when trying to overtake, no 'dive bombing' into corners...

 

If being overtaken give racing room. If your opponent is more than half a car length inside you, you must concede, don't cut them off. Likewise if going for an overtake and you are not atleast half a car length inside, back off.

 

No one is perfect and mistakes happen. If you do accidentally take someone out you must slow down and let them take their position back.

 

To help with this using the farthest away camera and extended map is advised.

 

The night will begin as contact racing but I will switch to non-contact if poor driving standards are seen or people start bitching....

 

Above all else this is intended to be a fun race night, not 'serious' racing and players of all skill levels are welcome. But if you like to kerb boost, double-clutch, ram other cars etc. then go race elsewhere...

I enjoyed this event tonight, as getting the chance to race the Sultan RS is quite rare, and everyone seems very decent at racing, so it's a massive challenge, and I'm keen to improve.

 

It seemed the event suffered a little bit by drama though, and some unclean racing moments.

 

I saved two clips, first is in the only race I luckily managed to win, it's a tight hairpin difficult really to get everyone around in the first lap, but I felt compelled to share it as an example of sh*tty driving. WTF?

Second clip, it's from the moment that MAHALOKA dropped out, and I don't think it was dirty racing at all, but clearly accidental, and a complete contrast to the first clip.

in the 1st clip it was ?fozzie? who came and completely demolished my race(im the white car starting from pole in your clip), and didnt wait to return position, he made a pit-manouvre on me in the race before that also, i suffered 4takeouts in the race before, only 1person actually behaved 'gentelmanly' in all of them. that last 'divebomb' as it was from my perspective by paulie (who normally is a very clean racer) was just the last drop for me.

after the first race it just wasnt any FUN anymore. it felt more like a warzone to me

The Sultan Cup rocks! I think it was great fun and an awesome event and the Sultan is just such a cool and fun car!

 

The were some issues but I really don't think there was deliberately reckless driving or intensions to take one or another out. Terrible accidents can also happen unintended, due to lack of skill or just losing focus at some point. And what happens after a hit is even more important, if the one causing the accident is waiting then that player knows very well he screwed up. So in general just don't jugde too fast in calling someone not clean.

 

I agree on everything Hitman says about the situations Mahaloka pointed out. In the first hairpin video Fozzie made some really strange moves and caused a big pile up but I think this wasn't intensionally or directed at anyone, he just made a wrong estimate at that corner in my opinion and he didn't take off after causing it.

And for the second part Mahaloka, I think it's a bit harsh to call me out for that as not clean racing. Maybe on your screen it looked like divebombing but in Hitman's video it's very clear I stay behind you while slowing down and while I overtake you on the inside there is a slight contact on the side of the car but that's the kind of contact that happens many times in racing, also in clean racing in my opinion!

 

Let's keep it cool with each other guys, sometimes things don't exactly play out as you expected but that's part of the game when you play with different players. I can say that I still have the feeling everyone over here prefers clean racing so let's just have fun with us all and respect one and another.

sorry to say it m8,but fozzie didnt wait on any occasion.. and ur car wasnt on 2/3 not even half next to mine when entering that corner, so imho u should have refrained urself from that move, or at least waited after..

no hard feeling towards u though, i know u didnt do it with bad intentions (and it wasnt the worst of all crazy incidents i had to endure by far,lol), it was just the so called 'drop which made the bucket flow over' for me, so i called it a day..

I know I wasn't there, but that first corner took me by suprise the first time I did the race and I did exactly the same and wiped out a chubb, also looked like a wee bit of lag-a-rooney in there for good measure.

There were some epic moments whereby atleast four of us were going hard on the second track, without crashing into one another, it's a massive challenge to not f*ck others over in the pursuit of the fastest racing line.
