How good it can be, if I can connect GTA with my treadmill!

I got this idea when I was on my treadmill with repeated boring songs. I got very tired and found I still had half an hour to go!

Now is the idea. Let's imagine it. Your treadmill controls the character. A speed below 6 mph means walking, and above it means running. The direction should be manually controlled by a trackball mounted on your treadmill. And of course there is no way to enter a vehicle. As a feedback the game tells your treadmill to adjust its incline. It gains to high incline when your character goes uphill, and low incline when your character goes horizontal or downhill.

This clearly makes sense. That fictional world costed millions of dollars and it's worth all measures to explore and to utilize. If some geek makes such a treadmill, wow... I will be much more motivated to do my fitness everyday!

Can it simulate being run over by the hordes of idiot NPCs too?

Seriously though, aren't there already similar things available for FPS games? IIRC they weren't exactly successful.

futureproof

You know that the "vehicle" part of Grand Theft Auto is a pretty big one. I don't see the point of creating a complete device for walking around in mini Syria.. If you want a walking simulator you could play arma or something or go crazy and actually go outside for once.

Yep I can go outside. But I want to argue that GTA actually made itself much more than Auto since it's early version, not even an open world criminal RPG since GTAO. It has something like a real life simulator. That's why some girls like me play it. I'm not "that" interested in cars and guns. I like the dark story in GTA series and the feeling of a virtual life in GTAO. So I wish it pushes further, like an open world SIMS.

I thought the last thread I read was dumb...but everytime I log in there is a new winner.

If you do it for a while your body may start to be in sync with your GTA character. I am afraid that if you get hit by a car in game, you might stop running on the treadmill by instinct and get hurt because of it.

Sorry if my wording didn't make sense.

Happy Hunter

How am I meant to play for longer than 5 minutes if I have to do that?

Then again, I'm usually sat down in a vehicle (ingame) - so I guess I'd just watch people on foot trying to roll and wiggle, and exhausting themselves, lol.

Just think...

you'll have maxed out your Stamina stat in no time.

Better get a swimming pool in the house for the Lung Capacity one, and a wingsuit for Flying. ;)

I like this idea.

Me myself combined exercise with grinding, for example situps while my character idled in contact mission.

If i want to do sport while gaming, i just go iddle and do some exercises...or better, wait for 3 other people hosting a heist.

Trust me, you generally will be capable doing a 45 min workout in the mean time :)

This made me think of back when the Wii first came out. All my friends were waving their little sticks around (haha I know that sounds bad) and breaking out into a sweat while playing Mario Tennis. I'm too lazy for something like this. I enjoy sitting on the couch with a bag of chips near by while I murder people on GTA, personally speaking.

They could license GTA's open world to a company who makes things like these and have rowing, running, cycling, etc. Game detects which exercise machine you have plugged in.

All using time trial style events that have a set or randomized path with auto-steering, so all you have to do is the usual exercise machine stuff while enjoying the distractions.

Honestly i personally really prefer my good ol' controller to be honest :p

Really, they are already not doing a lot with the motion control option in most games with those :/

There definitely are devices for this, but i don't know if they at exclusive to VR or not. Reminds me of an essay I wrote in the 7th grade, it was for an video amusement park that featured a vr arena. Every player station had a giant track ball that "tracked" their movement across an elaborate game map. War simulations, fright nights, platformers, it could have been awesome!

I've done exercising while Heist marathon-ing with crew/buds.

Especially during the Pac Finale where I'll do Russian twists and kettle bells or crunches on the yoga mat in my game room or taking the PS4 pro and connecting it to the tv in the home gym room.

Might as well fuse two activities into one.

I apologize in advance to any new player I might meet from these parts and you hear slight rhythmic heavy breathing and/or grunts lol.
