they would either release the game on PS4/xb1 and when PS5/Xbox releases, the game will automatically be playable

That would imply the game would release before November 2020. Which is insanely unlikely.

Of course, when VI releases, next gen will probably be in full action.

gta 6 aint coming out on current gen forget that one bully 2 will be the next game hopefully slate me for that but the bully community deserve it escobar was the devil but that story in a gta game would outshine rdr 2 story if done right rockstar in no rush lets be honest gta online is the cash cow that keeps on giving

Yeah, technologically it may be possible but I don't think it legally is. If a publisher publishes a game for PS4, Sony doesn't get to decide that their new console also gets that game. It's up to the publisher.

Either way, I brought it up because someone said backwards compatibility will make double dipping obsolete and that's just not true. Cerny has already said many games will release on both ps4 and ps5.

Not to mention if said company closes or goes bankrupt

Day by day I'm starting to lean on Bully 2 being the next game,  @Yan2295 could be right...

Game like Bully 2, solid, maybe smaller in size title would give more time for VI to be something extra special

Timeline would then be something along the lines of    Bully 2: 2020-2021  GTA VI: 2022-2023

two years between R* titles sounds okay, and would surely please Strauss Zelnick demands on less time between releases

Man,i dont get this vibe that bully 2 would be so much quicker to make compared to gta.Rockstar won't compromisr with graphical quality and that level of detail takes time.

And if you agree with Yan's leak that means major work would start after red dead 2 came out with the game taking 4 to 5 years to make that would put bully 2 release in a 2022 or 2023 window.

Assuming Bully 2 is a thing(i hope it is) this is what my optimistic release schedule would look like:

R* once again put together all their studios for a project like in RDR2 but this time half their studios will be dedicated to Bully 2 and the other half will go to GTA 6.

When writing for Bully gets finished Dan will concentrate on GTA 6.

Bully 2 releases in 2022,Announced in december 2020.

GTA 6 Announced in Fall 2021 Releases in Summer 2024.

Dont think there would legal issues, because it certainly isnt't that way with PC games:

(You can upgrade your hardware how much you please ofc and if the game runs, it runs)

Publishers could later provide PS5 patch with better graphics like they do with PS4 pro and maybe charge $omething for it

I guess..

mate there is no way gta 4 coming out in 2024 2023 at the latest bully will be much smaller thing developed by two to three studios max if it come out even the bully community would admit that

sorry meant to say 6

Double dipping will die, most remasters and remakes aren't given the level of care necessary to justify a new release and they don't sell particularly well unless that's the case.

Regardless double dipping is literally pointless because with the new backwards comparability systems on the next generation whatever console you buy your copy for, it will work on the next generation machine anyway.

As far as I can tell, every PS4 game will be playable on PS5, which in theory, would leave little space for companies to remaster a game:

https://www.gamesradar.com/ps5-backwards-compatibility-spells-bad-news-for-the-remaster-as-we-know-it/

Sony has yet to confirm all PS4 games will be obligatorily playable on PS5, but if it is, double dip will probably not be a thing anymore.

R*'s remaster of GTA VI in such case would still make them a sh*t ton of money. People would buy it for sure, since it's a GTA game.

This, once GTA VI releases, PS4/Xbox One will be dead , especially PS4 which will be dead in ~1,5 year. Rockstar always releases their games for newest platforms.

Why haven't they made anything new for the Switch then? No I'm not counting the LA Noire remaster.

Switch came out too late to be considered for RDR2 and it most likely isnt even powerful enough to run it smoothly

What do people think about this : I recall rockstar saying something like GTA Online is it's own game and separate from GTA V.

What if they decide to split it, and have GTA Online be its own separate game and GTA 6 for example to be its own singleplayer game? Like if they can't double dip (probably cna to an extent with next gen release and then pc release few months after) but do you think separating the online and singleplayer is a possible route they would take or would it cause too much backlash?

Who said that? Benzies?

Sorry i think i worded/ formatted that post incorrectly, ill fix it now.

What i meant is that I've seen quite a few times that Rockstar considers the online as a standalone experience or its own game in a sense. So I was thinking that as they may not be able to double dip potentially, Could they separate the Online as its own game (GTA Online 2 for example) and then separate the single player (GTA 6 for example) and sell them separately?  (Probably unlikely as it can split the playerbase.

Another thing is that Story doesn't get any updates apart from occasional bug fix while online gets everything. Even certain weapons or vehicles that could be ported over to singleplayer don't get ported over.

Nah. GTAO is a part of V. They share assets, the map, gameplay systems etc etc. Same with RDO and RDR2.

For a while all new weapons added in GTAO were being brought over to Story mode as well (brass knuckles, revolver etc these are just some examples). New radio stations are still available in Story though (Blonded and Los Santos Underground Radio)

Rockstar will 100% make a GTA Online 2 with GTA VI. They have an opportunity to: re-imagine Online in a new state, make a whole bunch of more money from people buying GTA VI just for Online, and more shark card opportunites.

Rockstar will definitely continue GTA Online in GTA VI, V is already kinda reaching it's fullest capacity, the casino has some horrific performance on both console and PC, showing the V engine's age.

Feels like the innovativeness of (GTA VI Online) missions will be at the level of these recent GTA V Online updates..

Cause I doubt that IF there was innovative mission design stuff in VI, it wouldnt bleed over to these recent V updates

(cause that would mean the progress they had made throughout the years for VI, they wouldnt use for these recent V updates)

If anything, keeping it basic for GTA V Online and then having missions be a lot more better designed in GTA VI would look really good for them. (They can easily be like "Look at our new mission design we crafted from the ground up!...." etc....) so hopefully it is like that.

If they just repeat the same boring structure then yea, its going to get boring but either way they'll make bank.

Yes, but I doubt they would purposely do worse, that would really mess up their quality assurance process: Asking "Is this good enough" when they know they can do better

have a feeling there wont be much improvement is mission design in VI (Online)

mostly because they can get away with it

It's both. Rockstar consider them separate products. It's called GTA Online, not GTA V Online. They explicitly said themselves that GTA Online is a separate entity. It' only the same in that it's based of the same engine, map and framework, etc. But it is officially considered a separate entity by Rockstar games.

Yeah, I know. But neither of them are accessible without the other.

this is true if los santos is in gta 6 and you can transfer your character but i would no  say so gta 6 will be a new online with most dlc  i suspect and to encourage returning players by offering a free criminal enteprise starter pack sort of thing to get them started

Rockstar says GTA Online is standalone but except for a official site for it, everything else on Rockstar site and Social Club agroups both GTA V and Online together, same with Red Dead.

my dream GTA has a map with all big five cities (LC,VC, LS, SF and LV) and i have the feeling the map would be very empty of story elements. For example GTA V Story Mode, the prison is usless, no main mission involds the prison or the airbase. It feels useless. Same with the Mile High Building.. yea there is a little mission where you steal something. That's not enough for me. Arena is useless too.

Red Dead Redemption II did a amazing job to fill the map with stories. Every interessting place has a mission: snow mountains, all towns even Van Horn or Annesburg, Cornwall Oilfactory, the Prison, The Fort. All in use. I like that. Yea New Austin is empty but i have the feeling New Austin wasn't planed for RDR 2 and a desert is a desert... empty.  i hope you understand me. I'm pretty sure Rockstar can build a massiv open world with all 5 cities (and some towns) but i think its pretty tough to fill the map with story elements and side missions.

There's so many references to older games in this DLC, that at this point they are just that, references, not really hints.
