Well I suppose if they made the protag young enough in the flashbacks then it'd be OK. Maybe they could combine Bully II and GTA VI into one epic cash-in (this was meant as a joke, before anyone starts getting angry).

I personally don't like the flashback idea. Messes up the linearity and tangible progression that I am looking for.

I wouldn't be surprised if R* attempts a 30-40 year time skip in a RDR game, but for GTA I think it's a little too ambitious. It's not an issue of technology but just manpower. They'd literally have to create an entirely new set of vehicles, pedestrians, interiors, advertisements/decorations etc for an entire city after the time jump. It doesn't seem plausible to me.

 

For RDR on the other hand it makes perfect sense. 1840 America to 1880 America isn't that big a difference aesthetically speaking, especially not in the west.

2020 they will announce RDR 2 next gen and gta 5 for next gen.

2021 is where things get interesting

This just means we are getting another year of RDR2, which by around this time we might get an announcement of a new title. Something tells me it aint another GTA though. To really think, R* had only one title to the current gen. Kinda sad though, but RDR2 is great game. That R* doesn't exist any more.
