I love Grand Theft Auto III, but I'm sure 80% of players don't care about that game, at all.

 

Also, Grand Theft Auto IV looks somewhat like a proper Grand Theft Auto III remaster.

GTA IV is a completely different game with a different overall feeling to it. Lately there have been a lot or remakes of older games like Medievil and Crash. The original Spyro trilogy has been remade on Unreal Engine despite the series being rebooted a couple of times since PSX days.  GTA III remake could be literally GTA III ported over to RAGE with new models and animations but the city layout as well as all the missions would stay true to its original. I feel like a lot of people would be willing to play III if the graphics and all the game mechanics were updated to meet today's standards

3 is actually a very fun game, hopefully the guns would stay just as brutal

I'm not sure why it would be bland. I think there's interest in this kind of remakes judging by all the total conversion mods. And with the recent trend of remaking classic games, this actually sounds like a good idea

GTA 3 is simply too outdated. Even San Andreas can be considered too outdated and too lacking the small details that began with GTA 4 for a lot of people. I can understand games like Spyro because the platform genre has changed very little over the past 15-20 years except for better graphics. But open world games, especially Rockstar games, have changed so much in the past ten, even past five years. Red Dead Redemption 2 is a night and day difference compared to GTA 5, which itself was a night and day difference compared to GTA 4, which was itself a night and day difference compared to San Andreas. GTA 3 is simply too basic and plain for this era of shrinking horse genitals and natural beard growth (RDR2’s almost surreal attention to detail). But it is still a great game for nostalgia or the historical context. The graphics mods for the 3D games just made them look like bad Unity games.

what's so outdated about GTA III besides obvious things like graphics and crude gameplay mechanics? the core gameplay is still the same to this day. SA has more features and content than GTA V so what small details do you have in mind? if you believe that R* games have changed significantly in terms of the core gameplay, you should check out this video

Even though, probably there would be people who would buy the remaster anyway, few people, sure. probably not worth it to remake it.

I'm not saying that they should make one or that it's the right time for that. I mean right now i don't want them to get distracted and just focus on working on GTA 6 lol. But i can see a remake being a possibility some day in the future. This stuff goes like hot cakes. Crash sold 10mln units and that's data from February. Not bad for a remake of an old game
