Yeah, best Grand Theft Auto ever created.. Why wait 10 years, if we can wait 20 years to get something even better?

Why wait 20 if we can wait 30 to get something even better? or 50? well, why dont we die without playing the game for the sake of the future generations who will play a better game because of our sacrifice?

It's not 10 years of wait, though. Instead of thinking about time between GTA games, think time between Rockstar open world games. 2018 - 2023 is only 5 years. How do you make a game that builds of RDR2, and does it better, on next gen? You don't do that in only 2 years. Elder Scrolls fans have been waiting since 2011 for TESVI. That game won't be out until 2022 - 2024. Well over a decade. So it's entirely possible to wait a long time for a new entry in a series, these days.

you do know how rockstar games work right ?

You do know, that gta 6 has been in development since at least 2014 right ? I'm not talking about it being in full production, but it was being thought even before gta V was out, in 2013 or before.

They're different studios, the guys that worked on red dead aren't responsible for the next gta, they do help, but they're not the "main" devs for gta.

Trust me. I'm well aware. I've written an entire thread about it. Also, while Rockstar North typically work on GTA, and Rockstar San Diego are known for RDR. This time, with RDR2, they all worked on RDR2 as their main project as Rockstar Studios. They worked on RDR2 for around 5 years. I expect the same for GTA 6. And if that is indeed the case, then they aren't getting that done in under two years, especially on top of the next gen consoles arriving. They will also want a decent enough install base to release on. 2022 is the earliest possible release for GTA6

They all worked on it but not for the same time.

The closer they got to the release of the game, the more people were working on it. 3 years ago, let's say 1/3 of the team was working on gta 6, 1 year before rdr 2 releases, 1/6 would work on it, a few months before, everyone was working on it.

If they would have all worked on rdr 2 since the release of gta 5 in 2013, then who worked for gta online, who did fixes, who polished the release of gta V on ps4/xone and pc, also it would be bad time management to do it that way.

Obviously I didn't mean the entire workforce of Rockstar Games. It's well known they've had a small team working on GTA Online. And of course they've had teams working on other things. For the past decade they've been working on games that have been cancelled or shelved. Agent and Bully II are prime examples. However it's looking likely for Bully II to see the light of day, with a possible announcement next month. And with GTA Online still very much active and bringing in millions they're in no rush to release a new GTA. I'm also well aware that GTA 6 has been in some form of development since 2014. With initial concepting probably going back to 2012, although with a changing world much of that may be well out of date. Just don't be expecting it any time soon. At least if you prepare yourself for a long wait, you won't be disappointed if it isn't out for another 4 years.

When are you expecting GTA 6?

Honestly, I find it hard to guess.

To me it depends on when exactly the next consoles are out and when bully 2 is getting released ( if it is, because it's still unsure I think ). If bully 2 is out for current consoles, I would maybe expect a teaser at the end of the next year and a trailer in 2021 with maybe a release in 2022 (?).

If Bully 2 was coming out on current consoles, by the time it releases in 2022 would be 2 years into the next gen cycle

Yeah but do you think they would announce bully 2 then gta 6 a few months after ? I find this unlikely.

That's why I'm skeptical about bully 2, no one was expecting that game and suddently a lot of people are saying it might actually come.

With bully 2 being released, I'm very confident that gta 6 can't be announced in 2020, that's why I'm thinking of a teaser at the end of 2020 or beginning of 2021 with a trailer and a release date set in 2022.

Bully II is likely a 2020 cross gen release. Nothing to prove that, but it's just the best scenario for Rockstar. I know they rarely have 1 year gaps between announcement and release, but Bully II would be 'expected' to be a smaller title, as in not a huge hyper detailed open world game. Although who knows, Rockstar could transform that series in a way we never expected.

And if you try to extrapolate their schedule, a Bully II announcement this October, with a release in 2020, the RDR2 PC release late this year or early next year would certainly help bring in sales combined with GTA Online & RD Online. Then an announcement for GTA 6 in 2021 scheduled for release in 2022. The standard delay into 2023... and there you go.

I don't see why you seem to disagree so much @killso if you think 2022, it's only 6 months to a years difference, depending on what period it releases.

where did I say I disagree ?

I said the exact same thing I said a couple of pages before.

I expect a release in 2022 if there is bully, maybe 2021 without bully 2.

The thing I don't understand though is where does that "bully 2" hype comes from. I mean did we get any credible leaks saying it was coming ? ( legit question because I really don't know ).

Wdym they rarely have 1 year gaps between releases. GTA IV released 2008. EFLC released what 2009. RDR released 2010. LA Noire released 2011. Max Payne 3 released 2012. GTA V released 2013. Midnight Club was 2011 I believe. Just because the time between GTA V and RDR2 were different means nothing, they don't have to stick to a specific formula. They could announce a game now and release it one year from today

I said "I know they rarely have 1 year gaps between announcement and release"

2 years between GTA V and RDR2's announcement and release. Besides, the games you listed are from a long time ago, and Rockstar no longer works that way. Gone are the days of annual releases.

Literally the reason we were debating was because I said GTA 6 would probably release in 2023 and you said 2022. That's a disagreement.

No, what I said at first was that there were multiple studios working for each game, that's it, then you asked me when I thought it would come out and I said 2022. So I don't see where I disagreed with you, quote me if I did but from what I read, I clearly didn't.

Then why on earth did you ask me this, if you agreed with me? By asking this, you're basically implying that I don't know how Rockstar works, that they have multiple studios working on different games, they've been working on it for the past 5 years, therefore it would release sooner. 🤨

Exactly, some people don't know how they work, I thought you didn't, so I told you what I knew, that's it.

This being said, sorry if I sounded harsh, I don't even know why I wrote it that way.

ROCKSTAR MANIC

Its probably nothing big, I assume the "high impact" part is the utilization of picking up hookers and acquiring their services Basically looking for sex.

Weird, looking at a bouncing car is a 'High Impact'.

...How do we even know they have sex?

wait, so what could that possibly be? GTA III remaster/remake? it's a tiny game by today's standards so maybe they figured they should remake it with current gen graphics and physics? does that sound plausible?

Why would they remake it?

I love Grand Theft Auto III, but I'm sure 90% of players don't care about that game, at all.

Also, Grand Theft Auto IV looks somewhat like a proper Grand Theft Auto III remaster.

Maybe just rerating them for the PS5/Xbox Scarlett PSN store, Mircrosoft store maybe that's my guess. Sell them as PS2/Xbox classics again once those consoles release at launch instead of waiting forever.
