@XXVIII I won't knock your posts, you're obviously a good writer. And admittedly you're nowhere near being Greenrock or MojoGamer level, but some of your posts are starting to become eyesores man. Most times I just want to get in and move to some constructive conversation (well, however close we can get to constructive conversions in the VI sections). It's real annoying having to scroll past three different 1000 word, 10+ paragraph posts in some of these topics.

Such fan fiction belongs in this subforum: https://gtaforums.com/forum/78-writers-discussion/

@i.petrucatalin You make some good points for general franchises, however, GTA is not a general franchise, it is a system-seller title. It is responsible for a massive portion of the PS3 and Xbox 360 installed bases when IV released. If it wasn't for GTA IV, Modern Warfare 2 would not have been what it was.

GTA is the title you put out to sell the consoles. That's why a console pays the big bucks to market GTA games. CoD has that status now as well. The vast majority of marketing for both of these franchises I mention is paid for by Sony and/or Microsoft because they know these two games now sell consoles. GTA IV sold a lot of consoles in the last generation.

You can trust and believe that GTA VI held back for new consoles would not hurt it, it would help it, because people would buy consoles to play it.

Especially with the massive growth it has experienced with GTA Online, players that never played and even disliked GTA literally live more in that game than they do in their real life.

It’s possible considering gta 5 was announced 2 years before releasing

No, it's not to be honest. Let me remind you people, again, that it took Rockstar Studios, not Rockstar San Diego, 8 years to make RDR 2, with 1600 people on board for many years and over 3000 overall, I guess in the one last year or maybe only last half of the year before release.

Quote

As the work on the game accelerated, the company began to realize that the process of working as a group of distinct studios wasn’t the best approach on so complex a game. So they began to become a single, massive entity essentially.

As “Red Dead Redemption 2” wrapped up, it did so with a singular group not distinguished as Rockstar North or Rockstar Lincoln, but simply as Rockstar Games.

“Now we’re just one big group,” Nelson said. “It has allowed us to leverage the strength of locations, letting us hire the best people for each job from around the world.”

That decision didn’t come with some challenges. Chief among them, Nelson said, is keeping communication open between so mammoth a group of people. He said about 2,000 people worked on the game, 1,600 of which were developers.

Is anyone eager to explain to me how would they create bigger, more ambitious game in the same time or even less? They are developers, not wizards.

Today I've been also thinking about that GTA VI pastebin rumor (taken down by Rockstar Games within 1 day?) "saying", that GTA VI would take place in VC and LC and span across the decades, something Rockstar barely touched with RDR 2, with flashbacks(yeah, something Rockstar really loves (Max Payne 3, GTA V) with possibility of adding new towns in future (LS with its completely wasted potential?). What if "Project Americas" is only half true and "leaked" by Rockstar on purpose to keep attention away from the real thing? Do you remember what Jason Schreier (Kotaku editor) said? If leak sounds like a list of cool things it's most likely bullsh*t. Rumor was also saying, that this game can't be released on PS4/X1 due to memory restrictions (damn right). Now think, what was their target since like ever? In like every single interview when asked about the future of the GTA they were saying, that at some point they would want to have one big universe and let players travel across it seamlessly. What if GTA VI is just the beginning of something like this? With rumored specs of new consoles and upcoming but not mandatory cloud gaming it really, really makes sense from every single standpoint including business one. Possibilities of adding content are almost unlimited, not to mention, that money would be just flowing and flowing and flowing to Rockstar Games/T2. Of course, they would have to rework some things in Liberty City to suit 4K era but it would be worth it.

You can call all of what I wrote and this rumor bullsh*t (although I wouldn't do this) but what you will do with another guy stating few months earlier, that GTA VI will take place in VC and LC and saying, that Sony won't be at E3 but they will make small reveal in Q2 2019 and who was right on every single thing so far? How the hell would he know? Where did he got this info? Of his crystal ball? There was no even single rumor pointing at GTA VI revisiting LC not to mention PS5 reveal 1,5 year before release.

They announced GTA IV ~half year after Xbox 360 has been launched. I wouldn't expect any announcement on GTA VI till 2021 if Bully 2 is really next unless R* makes a huge deal with Sony to let them show the game at the conference and say something like "This is what you will get on our new, upcoming console." They would have to be crazy to make GTA VI with PS4/X1 in mind with RDR 2 already struggling to keep stable framerate in Saint Denis and it's just small city. I think, that no one wants GTA V_v2 instead of GTA VI, not even Rockstar. All recently realeased and upcoming titles show one thing, this is end of this console generation lifecycle. They are either blurry, sometimes really blurry or they have unstable frame rate or both. Even Red Dead Redemption 2 looks a little bit bad on Xbox One S/PS4.

GTA developed on PS4 / One will not be a GTA 5 V2

it's like saying RDR 2 is a RDR 1 v2

of course nobody would say this because you will look like an idiot, you can clearly see the difference between a game developed on PS4 like RDR 2 compared to RDR 1 or GT5 developed on PS3

so stop saying that with a hypothetical GTA 6 on PS4 / One because it's a big lie

the good news is that we will soon know if the hypothesis of a GTA 6 on the current generation is still possible

if we get the new generation of consoles at the end of 2020 as it seems to be the case they can still release GTA 6 first on current consoles at least over a period of 1 year after the release of the new concoles so during 2021

in 2021 the vast majority of players will still be on PS4 / X1 and in this scenario the game would be announced at least in 2020 to warn people who will buy the new consoles to keep their PS4 / X1 if they don't want to wait for the release of the game on next gen 1 year after

so less than a year and a half  to wait before the year 2020 ends to get the answer to one of our main questions about GTA 6

I’m still wondering if the Red Dead Redemption universe is canon in the Grand Theft Auto universe.

Well.. Imagine Red Dead Redemption game in 1930's. Or.. 1980's Vice City.

GTA VI CAN'T run on the PS4/Xbox One unless you want to scrap atleast 30% of the game. If GTA V had in mind next-gen and not current-gen at the time, it would have been better than what we have right now.

RDR2 will be the first and the last game made by Rockstar for this gen, at least a game of this scale.

Do you want the same improvements that were made between RDR and RDR2 or do you prefer the improvements made between GTA IV and GTA V (be aware that most of them are either big or small, like map size and graphics, the rest is only minor things like weapons/customisation and that's it).

what are you so desperate for GTA VI to be a current gen title? the game is not gonna come out for the next few years and by then it makes sense for it to be a next gen only title. as much as i want GTA VI to be released as early as possible i would hate to see it on current gen consoles

"All we can say is that whenever it is viable (TECHNICALLY, developmentally and business-wise)"

Yes it's Rockstar who decides but if they need to cut some things because it has a cost on performance of the PS4/Xbox One that means that GTA VI will be a GTA V 2.0 again.

They decided to have so many trees for GTA V on 360/PS3 that it run at 14 FPS. What did they do to counter this problem? They removed the trees, simple as that.

So if THEY decide to make GTA VI on PS4/Xbox One, they'll have to cut so many things than if it was planned only for next-gen (even on next-gen many things will still not make it through)

PS4/Xbox One are dead now, release a new GTA game on it is simply pure waste. It's finish the days were you get a GTA every two years, it's now a decade between each GTA entry.

You have to make a choice:

Have the newest GTA game release on a dying platform and so cutting so many things from the game resulting in a mediocre game and have to wait 10 years before the new one

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                        or

Have the newest GTA game release on a much more powerful platform without the need of cutting many things from the game resulting in the best entry of the franchise and be happy to play it for 10 years before the new one.

Why would you go with the first option?

It takes years to make a GTA game nowadays, yet you're willing to sacrifice it just for.... what, tell me again, oh yeah because you can't afford the newer console then it's simple buy a PC.

Ok, let's assume that, you're right. When in 2020? Let me remind you, that Sony will most likely reveal PS5 and games coming for this platform in February 2020, less than half year from now. Who will then care about some old gen versions running and looking like sh*t when you can have definitive, "shiny" version at the same cost? Not to mention that people will be looking with their eyes peeled at new games, that PS4 wouldn't even be able to handle even if you would run them in 540p due to console limitations. Warn people to keep PS4/X1? For what reason? You don't lose your games, you just change the hardware, that is running them. In PC world we don't care about old hardware, it's just hardware. We replace components and we can play new and old games, games released in like 90s, 00s and 10s, something what is now coming to these consoles. Just for example only, today I was playing Vice City on hardware which is like tens times faster than the one I had in 2003. It's all about games, hardware is just "box".

so I will answer to MrQuiche, Eternal Moonshine and Kris194 in the same post  because you blame me for the same things

I never said in any of my posts that I would prefer a release on the current gen instead of the next gen

the difference is that I don't exclude the possibility while you are affirmative on the fact that there is no chance and that those who think that are almost idiots as if the example of GTA 5 has never existed

don't exclude the possibility of a release on the current generation doesn't mean that I would like it to be the case

personally I don't care I would be happy in both cases

on the other hand for you I really hope that the game will not be released on the current gen because firstly you will look a little silly having been so affirmative about the fact that it couldn't happen and secondly the disappointment will be so huge that I'm afraid you'll fall into depression when I read your posts if this happens 🙁

Nobody is implying that you are an idiot. Don't take this so personal. It's just that you gave off an impression that you would actually prefer the game to be released for current gen consoles. I believe that most of us would rather see it being developed with next gen in mind

And given the current situation, it'll be a next-gen release. Thinking otherwise is an opinion, but also the earth is flat and dinosaurs never happened are opinions.

I'm also in the next gen boat. I think V suffered in the long run with its indecisive release, I bet it would've been more complete if it was made fully with either last or current gen in mind. Imagine how strange would SA looked like if they decided to partially start develop it for the 360 in mind.

I don't even care much for increased graphical fidelity, I want the new hardware to be used more for things like more content, more stuff happening at the same time and better performance.

Good things have to take a lot of time, that's how it works. When it comes to 2023, it's just our assumption and it's like worst case scenario probably. I think, that Rockstar will want to target 2022, 20th anniversary of Vice City, 9 years after they released GTA V for old gen which is pretty dead since few years and 8 since current-gen version release. If Bully 2 rumor is true then it would look like this:

2018 - Red Dead Redemption 2

2 years gap

~Holiday 2020 - Bully 2

2 years gap

Fall 2022 - GTA VI

The kinds of games rockstar makes takes alot of effort, and 4 years is the usual time it takes to make a big open world these days, add rockstars obscene attention to detail(and some crunch time) and the game could easily take 6 years or more to develop.A few examples of game dev time

Spiderman PS4 took 4 years

Cyberpunk had its development going full steam after witcher 3 so 5 years

Gta 5 already took 5 years to make back in 2013 that was a last gen game.

My optimistic take is Development startin 2018 and release 2022 for gta 6 or bully 2 or la noire 2(a man can dream goddamnit)

it took 5 years to make, and was made by Rockstar NORTH. Rockstar worldwide studios are surely developing the next gta faster. But on the counterpart rdr2 was also a worldwide production and took 8 years to make

Bruce Almighty was actually that of a noble Scotsman of high grandeur. He  came to bear a light within his own eyes that he could undertake the roll of Creator, an omnipotence force that set out to painstakingly erect 8K pillars, grandstanding the wittiness of a pixelated universe that could defy principal and string together 50 bodies of diversity and beyond.

Within each of the 50 bodies... realism would meet all eyes and subdue all jaws, and, most debilitating of all, traces of the red mist would permeate through the decency that fights Armageddon and insurrectionism.

Bruce Almighty the Scot was not of the mindset to cultivate the inner workings of mimicry... but rather authenticity. A Universe that is authentic in all aspects of the nucleus that is driving its story, not of predefined roots, but by the moral compass of the beholder. If the needle should turn hither or thither (here or there), the simulated journey will run its path along that slate of the earth.

As time wanes for Mother October, at a modest distance, excitement gains in decibels. When the simulator comes... it is coming for the deed of your life.

The presentation wants your tears and the vehicles will want you to toy with its gears. Starting forever and ending never, this scintillating simulator will never be penetrable by words.

The Almighty knows only to please. 🙂

Not mine. This is literally The Oakland raiders theme but I think it fits R* so well.

The Autumn Wind is a pirate

Blustering in from sea,
With a rollicking song, he sweeps along,
Swaggering boisterously.
His face is weather beaten.
He wears a hooded sash,
With a silver hat about his head,
And a bristling black mustache.

He growls as he storms the country,
A villain big and bold.
And the trees all shake and quiver and quake,
As he robs them of their gold.

The Autumn Wind is a raider,
Pillaging just for fun.
He'll knock you 'round and upside down,
And laugh when he's conquered and won.
