Flachbau
Week of July 16th - July 22nd Welcome to the nineteenth issue of the GTAForums Weekly newsletter! Last week the Pegassi Monroe came out on top with a strong victory over the Pfister 811, although it's not winning so easily in Week 16 of the Weekly Vehicle Showdown. It's up against the Nagasaki Buzzard chopper (the current leader), and it's practically down to the wire with a few votes making the difference. We'll have to wait and see if the Buzzard can pull the surprise victory out from under it's sleeve, but before it's too late, head to the poll and cast your own vote! In GTA Online related news, @WildBrick142 posted a new topic containing all sorts of info regarding the Karin Technical Custom, new discounts, and extended bonuses. The topic also provides useful topic links for those looking to discuss a bit more elsewhere. Staff members are also experimenting with a new general chat topic in the GTA Online sub-forum.. and you guessed it; anything is up for discussion in the topic as long as it's GTAO related, although the topic reminds you to keep different chatter in the appropriate threads. It seems to be a decent hit so far, gaining 164 posts in just a few days. GTAForums currently has a total of 14,944,360 total posts (+11,206 from last week) and 711,232 total members (+475 from last week) at the time this is being posted. Welcome to the nineteenth week of Rockstar Central! I’m your host, @Spider-Vice, and we’ll be highlighting this week’s happenings in the Rockstar Universe. GTA Online Weekly discounts, bonuses, and an upgrade to a fabled Heists vehicle! Beginning this week, the Karin Technical Custom is now available in GTA Online. You can access it by bringing your original Karin Technical to your Mobile Operations Center’s Vehicle Workshop to put some armour on it and plenty of new notifications. You can also use your Bunker’s Research to unlock modules for this new vehicle. The Overtime Rumble adversary mode bonus has been extended to July 24, too! Until then, you can enjoy the double RP and GTA$ that this mode has to offer since its release. Along with this, a couple of Gunrunning bonuses have been applied as well: Arms Manufacturing has a 25% boost until the 24th as well, and completing a Sell mission until that date will also grant you access to the Black Ammu-Nation Hoodie! Because the poor (and rich, I guess) citizens of Los Santos love themselves some discounts, Rockstar is offering 25% off on: - The Phantom Wedge (in both price tiers, standard and SecuroServ) - The Annihilator - The Buzzard - Vehicle Armour - Bulletproof Tyres As every week, there is a new premium race and a time trial for those wanting some extra money; - Premium Race: “Into the Dam” (locked to the Blazer Aqua) - Time Trial: “Sawmill” Rockstar General Red Hook Criterium! London! Bikes! At the time of posting, the Red Hook Criterium will have its Men’s Criterium happening, with the ceremony being at 9 PM BST, after which the winners will probably drink their liver off in celebration! Maybe (their afterparties seem fun). Right outside the O2 Arena in London, Rockstar is hosting their third iteration of the London Red Hook Criterium, their yearly bike racing championship, usually hosted in Brooklyn, Barcelona, Milan and London. The results should be posted shortly after the podium celebration or the day after, so make sure to visit their website! Those who attended will also win some Rockstar goodies, as they will be offering a special Rockstar Games cowbell so you can make some noise! Community Highlight – Create Your Own Radio Station for GTA The GTA Series sub-forum is sometimes forgotten by some, but it is one of the best places to be if you want to see some great future GTA concepts, along with ideas that people have, and threads for people to create their own concepts.. like this one. The thread, created by @Testarossa, our Track of the Week correspondent, allows people to create their own radio stations for a future GTA game by posting concepts with playlists, a radio logo if you're feeling extra creative, or even suggestions for current GTA game stations. It’s not only a great opportunity for Rockstar to check it out (who knows..) but also for people to discover new music and look into other members’ tastes. Some stuff there is really solid and I do wish Rockstar would put some of it in the games. We shall wait! But for now, follow the link in the title to check out the thread and participate! Android: You've been a member of the community for about three years and counting, but what brought you to GTAF initially? Uncle Sikee Atric: I had been watching the forums for quite a while before I actually bit the bullet and created an account. I only joined with the intention of finding a Crew to play with as I am a PC Gamer and had never had a chance before, GTA V was only just nicely confirmed for a PC launch at the time. Could you tell us more about the history or context behind your username? I've had several different handles during my time on the web. I'm very nearly 40 now and was first using the internet in the days of 56K dial up and direct dialing onto phone lines. I've always liked names that have hidden meaning and Sikee Atric has been my handle for the last 10 years or so (Most people don't get it at first, but then you can hear the collective, 'oh yeahs,' when they understand). The 'Uncle' part at the front is a result of my PBMO colleagues, I've been a Commissioner since the founding and although they don't play on my platform, they take my advice seriously, so they refer to me as Uncle... What inspired you to create the GTAF Weekly Caption Contest? This was the result of a posted image from a Crew BBQ event (PBMO calls all it's meets BBQ's). The image was of the characters leaning on the metal side rail bars of a (newly launched content at the time) yacht and I jokingly mentioned something about them looking at something totally inappropriate. The others had a laugh, suggested a few possibilities and it got me thinking of expanding the idea into something more formal. The Caption Competition launched a few days later. I actually expected the staff to shut it down fairly quickly given it's officially classed as a 'forum game', or that someone else already had a game running, but here we are 18 months later.... Are you still enjoying life in peaceful Paleto Bay? It's a blast and I wouldn't trade it in for the world. There's few places on the map of Los Santos and Blaine County where you can generally slow down a little and chill for a while in a public session, Paleto Bay is just one of those places and players generally greet each other while in town rather than shooting. Of course you do get idiots but they're usually busy down south in Los Santos and rarely come so far north. Life is quaint and simple and that's all that matters. The GTA series may evolve, locations may change and time may pass, but the Bay will always be in the heart of every PBMO member. Are you proud of what the PBMO group has become since it's creation? Very proud. The Crew grew out of a collection of misfits that hung around in the 'Paleto Bay Appreciation Thread' and we gradually formed the nucleus of the group over the course of a few months. At first it was hard work to get our name in sufficient light to warrant a dedicated chat thread and there were a few times we thought we'd fail before we got anywhere. But our community pulled through, became stronger and it was a hell of a celebration when the Crew got it's Pip awarded. We've never looked back since then and we now try to hold regular BBQ meets and participate in whatever we can. We're already looking at the future post-GTA Online and we can confirm, we're not going anywhere soon. What do you enjoy most about the forum? I just enjoy hanging out and having a laugh in here. It's funnier than Facebook for content and once you leave the chaos of the 'Online' section behind, you can actually find a good, decent community in areas like 'Off Topic' and the 'D&D' threads where you can conduct intelligent discussion about things other than GTA. Your opinions are listened to and just not dismissed with an insult or gif either... Mind you, it's still fun to drop the insults and gifs in 'Online' when you discover the threads and Badly Behaved Members that deserve them! Is there anything you'd like to change about it? I couldn't think of anything major you could realistically do. The community is so large and varied making even minor changes would upset at least some members somewhere. The forums has grown way beyond the sole purpose of discussing GTA and now it is too late to change that, but a few cosmetic changes and a visual update might help refresh some of the look. Oh, and a 'Weekly Wildcard Ban Roulette' that will guarantee one ban per week in 'Online'. You post anywhere in there, you're in the cross-hairs! Which forum member do you feel closest to? Apart from the PBMO Crew members, there's a few others I have respect for, the VANS members, Achlys, AlienTwo, TChuck and ten-a-penny, alongside the Staff (who do a great job, given the treatment and hostility they usually suffer), but I respect everyone on the Forum as much as I can. There's a few miscreants as well, but they don't deserve naming/shaming... What's your favorite Rockstar Games series or title? GTA, plain and simple. GTA V is a 'good' game, but I feel R* missed something with the storytelling, plus Online on PC is a perpetual nightmare, clearly the best example of 'how not to run your Online Community' for any future studies. GTA IV is the better game for me personally. Any favorite interests, hobbies, music, and so on? Tell us more about the person behind your alias. I'm a gamer in my 'limited' free time, so I am at my computer most evenings. Anyone who knows me knows my 'guilty gaming secret' and the fact I chill out listening to music, podcasts and radio while I am doing it.... Other than that I am a Sci-Fi freak. I studied Physics with Astrophysics at University, so the sci-fi has to have some reality in physics and technology for me to really enjoy it (I am much more a Trekkie than a Star Wars man as a result). Any final comments? Do you have anything to say to our readers & the GTAF community? Do what I did and go beyond the sections you usually haunt to explore this place. It's bigger and more varied than you think and we don't all bite, much!
