We're talking past each other here. You are taking the stance that they are a business and have the RIGHT to do what they want. I'm not arguing against that at all. Of course they can do whatever they want, legally; from a capitalistic standpoint I might even agree that they are highly incentivized to take maximum advantage of me and cheap out on improving their own game as often as possible. But as a consumer--a player of their game--my interest in their success as a business is minimal. I'm not an investor, it does little to nothing for me whether they make truckloads of cash or not. All I want is for the game I play to be as good and fun as possible, and my only interest in their success is in hoping they make enough profit to keep updating the game. That's it. So when you counter anything say with, "It's their game and they have the right..." or "They're a business, so..."--all I can do is shrug. You're not telling me anything I don't know. More importantly, you're not telling me anything that even remotely makes me rethink my stance. Everything I've said in here is an expression of what I want personally, and I could really give a sh*t if it costs them 10 or 50% of their profits.

Well, as long as you are honestly speaking about your personal preferences, then I would not even try to change your mind. I might as well tell you that you have to like one kind of pizza over another. You have every right too judge them as harshly as you please. I just wanted to make sure you are not conflating what you and I would probably agree on, which is Rockstar/Take2's moral imperative versus their legal obligations providing games and services to go with them, then we are essentially on the same page.

49 minutes ago, Nutduster said:

You're wrong there. That's what forums, Reddit, social media, and support tickets are for: it's the other half of our say. You have options open to you other than buying/not buying. And I would encourage you to take advantage of them anytime you think a company (Rockstar or whoever) is making their product or service worse just to make a few extra bucks.

In the end, any business has to decide if they collectively give a damn about their product and the experience of their customers beyond the degree that is necessary to stay in business at all. There are many exemplars of this still in the games industry today.

No, 'fraid not. lol

Don't get me wrong, that's certainly the way it should be. You would think that Rockstar would use these forums, and Take2 would see us as representing a sizable market share, and thus being worth paying attention to. I used to think that was the case, I really did. But NOTHING, and I mean nothing out of the mouths (or Twitter fingers) of anyone from Rockstar, Take2, or GSG has convinced me that they pay more than the most perfunctory level of attention to us in these forums. And if you want proof of this, just look at the unbelievably tone-deaf responses from any of the talking heads on social media, like Zelnick, not to mention GSG blocking everyone who doesn't like the game from their Twitter feed, though that I may be wrong about.

It absolutely amazes me when the empty suits start talking about DE, for instance, and how proud they are of the wonderfulness and beauty of the re-masturbated Trilogy; how there was a bug or two that have all been fixed. How they blasted the makers of Cyberpunks 2077, for essentially doing the same thing as Rockstar/GSG ended up doing a year later. I have no doubt they read these forums, but I am about as certain as I could be without being 100% sure, that to them, we are nothing but a small minority of rabble-rousers, toxic forum bottom-feeders, and trolls to be mostly ignored when making any sort of administrative decisions about this game. Nothing that forum members, Reddit users, their official "forum site" (such as it is), Twitter posters, or apparently now professional journalists say have even made a dent.

So what have they done with all of our collective, sage advice? Advice about not attacking the modding community? Advice about maybe even hiring some of those guys who clearly have a more functional understanding of gaming than they do? HUGE HUGE problems with DE, that have persisted, and probably will forever? All the vitriol we have quite rightly spewed about the quality if GTA +? The lack of content for the brand new version of GTAV/O in the alleged E&E? Online content that we would love to see?

Any of it? We have all been posting a wealth of suggestions, complaints, criticisms, bugs, problems with Online balancing, and on and on, and what do they address from the sage council of we here in this forum, the professional writers, and all of social media? Either the most insignificant bug fixes we don't really care that much about, or stepping up their efforts to ban and reset people who use some big money glitches. Both of those things are fine, in the totality of addressing problems with DE, GTAO, etc. But only in totality with an uncountable myriad of other issues that should also be addressed.

So tell me exactly where is my power again? Where is my "say" making post after post on this forum? Because I don't see it. Do you?

49 minutes ago, Nutduster said:

There are many exemplars of this still in the games industry today. Rockstar, I would say, is no longer one of them. Not that GTA Online is a bad game in totality, but there are myriad ways it could be better, and the copious, from-day-1 monetization has generally eroded its quality, and yet they have largely just stayed the course. It is what it is, but please don't try to talk me into liking it.  :D

Talk you into liking what, exactly? I hate everything about how they are monetizing this game. Well, okay, that isn't exactly true. In fact, it isn't true at all. lol What I hate is how Take2 and Rockstar have lost sight of all the things that us old-school fans love about the old GTA games. What I hate is the realization that they are really profiting off of what is essentially gamer-stupidity and the typical whale of a fool who is soon parted with his own money. That bothers me.

BUT, and this is what you may really disagree with me, as much untapped potential as GTAO has, the whales and the windfall profits into this game keeps being the impetus behind an unprecedented wealth of updates and content, compared to the old days of 2013. If it were not for all the insane money they are bilking their customers for, GTAO would either not be a fraction of the huge game it is, or it would have long ago given way to GTA VI, and that iteration of GTAO.

Now forget about whether or not that last would be a good thing. As much as I hate how they are handling it all, I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE being the recipient of all the new content, essentially paid for by all the whales. Because I don't have to pay anything other than the cost of the game. So, there's that.

49 minutes ago, Nutduster said:

I think you're misunderstanding me here. I don't want them to provide GTA+ subscribers with payout boosts. I am a huge opponent of pay-to-win games and that's as pay-to-win as it gets. That kind of design poisons the entire experience for every participant, IMO. What I was saying was that they should go back to the older content (pre-casino heist) and boost payouts on it for ALL players, especially if they're going to put more and more effort into trying to milk GTA+. A lot of the design decisions in the first 5-6 years were based around trying to encourage all of us to buy shark cards; since then, they have given us better-paying content (like Cayo Perico) but also introduced GTA+, and I foresee them adding more and more to that in an attempt to create a reliable pool of recurring revenue. And that being the case, they should stop short-changing noobs who don't know better and are still running MC businesses for peanuts. I'm making a couple small leaps in logic there, but that was all I was saying about that. I am firmly AGAINST giving GTA+ in-game advantages, whether they would be weapons, weaponized vehicles, or payout boosts on activities that the rest of us don't get. (I feel less strongly about discounts and am completely indifferent to cosmetic items. And yes, a lot of hairs are being split here.)

It isn't that I don't understand you, I just don't agree with this. I have no problem with them providing those payout boost to subscribers. Hell, they have to make their Crapscription service at least appear to have value.

As for poisoning the experience for every participant, slow down their, Trigger. None of this poisons literally anything for me, at least not for GTAO. Then again nothing about it is pay-to-win, unless you count that extra boost players got by getting an HSW upgrade to a compact car that literally NOBODY cares about. If it poisons it for you, then so be it, I respect that. But from what I can see, there is truly no shortage of masses of people playing this game in lobbies. I'm sure some of them feel "poisoned" by all this, but I bet not that many do.

As far as "stop shortchanging noobs," lol good luck with that! Freemium games have been making their bones doing just this! The formula for any freemium game where profits are prioritized over quality has always been to provide weak content that only seems like a lot of bang for the buck because of how it is packaged and sold. So, yeah, don't expect this to change any time soon. As far as "giving GTA+ players any meaningful in game advantages," being a bad thing...wow, really? Then what would people buy anything from the game for? You have to offer some advantage or you won't get people plunking down their hard-earned dollars on these little trinkets and widgets. There would be no reason for them to.

I will say this, though: as bad as GTA+ and Shark Cards are, they could be a helluva lot worse. And maybe someday they will be! But for now, I have seen a great many games employing a pay-to-win freemium strategy. Let's face it, the only competitive advantage you get with GTA+ is more money or an enhanced ability to make it. You don't get weapons that are more overpowered than your non-subscribing peers, you only get a little more money to get them sooner. Same with cars, planes, properties, and businesses.

Like I said, they have to give these whales something. And to assert that they should only be offering cosmetic nonsense, would make certain almost nobody subscribed or bought Shark Cards. it's the same with the Shark Cards. Some kid has a family with a lot of money and buys a few of those Megaladope $100.00 cards, and they have some cash a lot quicker than an extra 2x buff on your favorite way of making money, bunker sales. So any way you slice it, you buy shortcuts and at least monetary advantages, whether buying straight up SC's or being a GTA+ subscriber. No getting around that!

Won't get further into the weeds here--no offense meant, but it's clear both of us could pour out biblical amounts of words on this topic, and if I do, I'll end up divorced.  :D Anyway I don't think we're actually that far apart on most of this, it's just the little details we feel somewhat differently about. And I'm okay with that.

No, definitely not. I think that both of us would agree that this game would be ten times better if it were monetized differently, and if the updates and new content were a lot more commensurate with the money Take2 is consistently taking in with this game. Not to mention if Take2 actually did listen to the people in these forums, because we represent a classification of players that knows a great deal more about GTAO than the masses and casuals. I think they consistently take the path of least resistance by listening only to their revenue and not the people who actually know GTAO very well, like most of us.

Is it me or does the Savage feel heavier and slower on the PS5? The handling doesn't feel as responsive as it did back on PS4.

It wouldn't surprise me if they tried to buff it on Xbox Series X|S and PS5 versions, the explosive cannon on it seems to have more range on Xbox Series X than Xbox One.

I would test the handling and weapons on PlayStation if I had a PS4 and PS5, but I can't afford to fill my room with game consoles right now.

So I just finished doing an auto shop delivery, and outside Franklin's house, there was Tanisha's Astron and it was indestructible. Odd.

I believe both of their cars spawn in front of the house. It could even be synchronised with whether Franklin is at the Agency or not. They do seem to be indestructible.

Is it me, or are you unable to complete Dispatch III stealthily without wanted stars by sniping the target out of the plane, then quickly driving off? It seems like I can't do it anymore without getting wanted, even if I'm not spotted. I get a text message from Martin, saying "Well, that was messy." I think they realised players were completing the mission stealthily by doing that shortcut, so now you have to do it the actual "stealth" way by going into the hangar round the back and killing the enemies with a suppressed weapon.

EDIT: Actually, you can. Either you have to be really quick to avoid being spotted or sometimes it just doesn't work.

He does recommend MrBoss on his channel who I heard does the same thing, lol.

Yup, it looks like it's up for $9.99 on PS5 even a couple days after it all ended. And I believe there is a new bundle of both PS4 and PS5 games so if you don't have a PS5 yet you can still get the PS4 version then transfer whenever you do get a PS5. Sounds like they rethought the pricing strategy.

Still kind of confusing, because on Xbox apparently it's more expensive, but still not 29.99 or 39.99 or whatever the price was gonna be, and I think there's a bundle of Xbox One and Xbox Series versions there too.

I think they should clarify this themselves if the prices are indeed lower than originally expected because it would ease some people's minds for sure.

They last logged on in March and liked a bunch of posts in February so I'm assuming that's a sign they're okay and have simply moved on, but it's definitely a presence that's been missed around these parts. Some found it cringe but I did enjoy their little fluffy penguin persona thing :p

Their last post before saying goodbye was in a Simeon Repo Missions Elimination Game, I wonder if we could have a Mk2 given this week they're on discount and to honour their presence here :yee: Although I understand that the community's opinions on these missions probably haven't changed since 2019 and perhaps it would play out the exact same way.

Ok, so here is a question I would love for you to answear!

I mostly never shoot anyone as long as they dont shoot me. Sometimes though, for exempel when I exit the casino or sell a car att LSC, well you know how crowded those two places can be…. If I see a car going towards my direction I Will pull up my old friend, the 9mm Beretta, you know that gun that Lamar gives you at the wery beginnig of playing Online. Not even a fancy machine gun or a stupid RPG.

So I aim at whoever is getting close to me.

so to the question: If you see some one aimning at you, but dont actually shoot even though they could no doubt, how do you react?

I did this the other day outside the casino, he did not do anything, so I guess he is friendly, I put down the gun and leave, end then he shoots me in the back as I am walking away… Yeah yeah, I know… Dont trust anyone in this game… but I am still curious to how you fellas would react! 🙃

My experience with other people Online has been very limited (on PC, for obvious reasons!).

There were three instances in the week or two between the game being released and when the first script-kiddies made an appearance where I didn't shoot first and found myself asking questions later:

1) Travelling through the city centre in a Manana on my way to find an interesting first vehicle for Uncle Simeon to insure for free, and I swerve to avoid a player running across the road. A second or two later, I get a single bullet through the rear window (non-injuring). As I continued North out of the city, I had to ponder whether I should have simply run the other player over, or engaged in a gunfight instead of minding my own business.

2) I'm in passive mode swimming in the Alamo Sea (working on my 'toon's underwater stats) and another player pulls up on the shoreline and starts taking pot-shots at me. Obviously no damage taken, and he went away after 2-3 minutes of ineffective attacks. Once again I was left thinking whether I should have retaliated (potentially I could have passive-popped).

3) I leave Burton LSC and park on the road outside as I consider which garage to take a newly acquired, pre-tuned spawned Dominator to, and someone pulls alongside in a Gauntlet (I think?) and sounds their horn. I sit quietly for a few seconds as he continues beeping and performing burnouts, and then he throws a sticky bomb onto the back of my car before speeding off. I decide it's not worth the drama and activate passive - I can't recall if the bomb vanished, fell off, or he didn't trigger it... but I made my way to a garage without being detonated.

Expanding the map? No. It's too late in the game's lifetime for any serious additions of landmass, AI pathing etc. Especially if Rockstar are allegedly working on the next instalment of GTA... not to mention the dozens of other rehashes titles they're apparently bringing out over the next year or two.

I could see a little more stuff being added to the existing map in an absolute-best-case scenario though. A few more buildings being given a purpose with separate interiors, maybe an update of some graphical displays (posters, billboards etc.) to advertise the next game or something, and other little things with props and stuff. But no animals, no fully-built Mile High Club or anything that exciting - just the bare minimum if anything.
