I'm currently very split on a subject.

I'm (finally) about to get the Explosive Ammo, but... I don't know if I should use them, mainly because I dislike heavy use of explosives in PvP, and upgrading will not allow me to use the Heavy sniper as much as I'm currently doing.

The Irish Hunter raises a strong point about running out of ammo. This happens extremely often (freeroam is violent) and when it does, you will be assed out. Just last night I could've killed the CEO doing executive search but I ran out of ammo. There's also been far too many sniper vs sniper bouts where I go to this weapon only to hear the click, click that it's empty.

That and filling it up costs far too much. $1450 to replace one cartridge of ammo. Multiply that over and over and the costs to refill can be gargantuan. Remember, you're not going to Ammu-Nation or the interaction menu to refill. You have to call your MoC, wait for it to spawn, drive to it, go inside and then you can refill.

However, I kept my Heavy Sniper Mk2 and haven't reverted back. Here's why:

-Thermal scope - biggest reason

-Explosive Rounds = 1 shot to kill, normal heavy sniper often needs two shots

-Far away vehicles that the Homing Launcher/RPG won't catch in time. The Heavy Sniper was good for this before, but explosive rounds speed up the process

-ammos costs aren't an issue for me

-The Marksman Rifle

The Marksman is actually very effective as a Heavy Sniper alternative. It's just as easy to switch to and there's no worrying about running out of ammo (relatively). You do lose the ability to zoom-in but the rapid fire shots can often make up for it.

I think the cons and the pros/alternative cancel each other out. It depends on what works for you.

How sexual is that?

Good thing was that since I was near a lot of heli spawn points, I was able to spawn various different ones after it started smoking. Like, after that clip I quickly got a Savage, killed him and used up more of his ammo - then spawned another Buzzard, used up more - then back to a Savage.

Still need to get thinking and come up with other anti-sniper techniques though. You're not always going to be near a spawn point like that.

Nice...that'll teach him for trying to shoot down an innocent buzzard with explosive rounds.

@Rafae - thanks, I only returned in Jan after 18 months away so I had no idea when they were released. Wonder what they have in store this year!

@AredTarg - 26 million and counting, I've got more aircraft to buy, but as long as they do a decent double event before it comes out, I'll be ready.

@Sanches...and you said all they did was limited use pajamas!!

Is it accurate that you need 600 bunker sales to unlock the chance of getting the alien crash?

Another site said 600 resupplies. That's a crazy number either way around, think I'm only on 72 sales for near 17 million earned.

Woulda thought R* would mark 20 years in some way....in game I mean, I'm sure that IRL they are partying it up somewhere.

Got a question (Can't seem to find the GTAOnline question topic right now so I'll ask here where it's more populated): Right now I'm doing a mission I booked marked ages back called Crystal Clearout 3. Normally when ever I've done this mission I've called Pegasus and had my buzzard spawn by the nearby airfield.

Except this morning when the mission started most of my other NPC contacts are in my list except for Pegasus. Rockstar hasn't hot-patched the function to call Pegasus in contact missions have they or am I having some sort of crazy glitch?

It seems to be an intermittent bug, I've seen people mention it on here. Not happened to me so far, but last week I was doing a playlist & my mechanic vanished off my phone. Next time I did the playlist it was back again.

Alien crash.....I don't even want to think about how much time it would take to do 600 resupplies....I'm assuming that means steals? As soon as I earned my investment back on my bunker I switched to buying supplies.

This must take months of grinding sales.

Of all the damn cheek...just started a hanger supply run, was heading to my plane & I got run over by a Laser!!!

I really like flying though. I don't treat it as a serious business like IE or my bunker. I just do a few runs when I'm in the mood & treat the sales as an occasional bonus.

R* were taking the mick with the value of crates, they should be at least 20k each, considering the time some runs take.

But because I don't grind it, I can still have some fun with the missions.

^^ I too enjoy the hangar supply missions, but I ended retiring from the Air Freight business after one too many Mogul missions in a short period of time.

Luckily, by the time I retired I already broke even & turned profit.

Shouldn't today be the 20th anniversary of the first Grand Theft Auto?

Correct.gifOne would think they'll do some sort of an event, fanfare or at least tweet to commemorate the 20th anniversary of their pride and joy. Edited by IceDree

Is there an altitude or distance you can fly at, where someone with a sniper can see you, but the shots can't reach you? Or is it basically - if you can physically see it, it hits?

Just thinking maybe you could trick someone into using up at least some of their ammo. Especially if you were flying around fast, they might just think they missed. At least the first few times anyway. After 20 shots or so I guess they'd stop wasting bullets lol.

In a Hunter you might even be able to bomb them from such a height.

There's all this time until it releases, I may as well find techniques to make sure nothing cuts its rampages short too much.

I don't do enogh aerial flying in public to know if there's a range limit/ for the sniper but I'm pretty sure it depends on how high you are and if you are in the max range

of zoom/pressing up to aim on the helicopter.

I had my first first person flight with the Hunter on the supply mission yesterday and have to say it was very enjoyable and I love the internal view and the sound effects

of the rotor's/motor's so I am more convinced than ever I shall use it as my go to helicopter.

Bombs could be interesting idea, I might have to try experimenting with those at some point.

Damage drop starts at about 1500 meters, not sure how much is that in feet.

Bombs despawn in mid-air at about 800 feet.

From my understanding the Sniper have a range of 1500m (4921ft), so you'll have to fly at 5000ft to be safe from it ... Which makes the bombs useless as they despawn less than halfway through to the target.

Unfortunately at 5000ft+ in a helicopter you are a setting duck for fighter jets. You'd have a better chance using terrains & buildings as covers ... As long as you don't use the Maze Bank West building lol.

Thanks, Sanches! Generally, I don't pay attention at money stats at all since I'm not really taking GTAO money seriously after moving to PC. Can't even tell what's my current balance, could be wrong by 3-5 mil.

Not only. Imagine a scenario, where two other players are in the chopper at the same altitude. You won't perceive them as threat since they're too far away and one of them can shoot explosive ammunition. It's better to fly low, like we already doing.

Yessir. If it was in the city, one could simply go to the top of Maze Tower & boom the Sniper's range just extended up by another 1000ft.

It's common knowledge that it is frowned upon. The reason it isn't technically against the rules is because it can be hard to say when a thread is too old to bump, especially when it is still relevant.

Most of the time, it is just forum noobs that have googled/searched for something and post without reading first.

But yet at that the same time, we often bitch and complain when a new member creates a thread for a topic that has been covered before, and often times we provide links to those dead threads , damned if do, damned if you dont

Well thread relevance could be weather or not a thread can translate to today's gtao right? Rare items can still be found today, but deleting stripper contacts has been discussed and delt with for years.

I don't know, I just feel like it needs to be said.
