You sound a lot like me. I don’t like feeling tied or obligated to other players either, I want to be able to come and go as I please. I only have to be in Freemode for a few minutes before the invites to join MC and CEO come in, but I never help people, nor do I expect any help in return.

I hate it when people actively need babysitting and need to be constantly doing something or they get bored. Its like looking after children sometimes.

Finally got my hands on the old PS2 with Vice City Stories and Liberty CIty Stories bundle. Bummer: the drive is almost dead. After legally dumping the BIOS from the thing and dancing around the emulator, I've managed to run both games with 60 fps just to find out that I can't play on the keyboard and that the handling is so bad, that I can barely tolerate it: aiming is crazy, free aim is backwards and it's overall clumsy. Shame, because these are nice old games I've never played in my life, but from the looks of it I'm not going to be able to complete them. Probably, will look for more PS2 stuff that my in-law have stashed at his grandma and try to play something via emulator until I'll find the drive replacement option.

Yeah, and the bigger the crew got, the more imbeciles joined, until it got to a point where you'd lose a third of your shipment every sale because some moron flew their Dodo into a mountain (all the drops are at sea!), or drowned their dune buggy in a puddle for the Nth time. That and you'd get accused of not pulling your weight in the crew if you didn't help for a while, even if you weren't even doing your own sales. When you get to a point where you appear offline to avoid your own crewmates, there's not much point in remaining a member.

I actually work for randos fairly often when I can't think of anything better to do, it's rarely profitable but often fascinating.  It's a bit of a reality check after so many years playing and with the benefit of the forum's gathered knowledge to see how a lot of people manage to get by out there... you wouldn't believe how many people will go immediately from a PvP fight into a sale mission and be surprised to get attacked, not know that Ghost Org hides your cargo blip, buy a Nightclub before any other business... I do my best to offer advice and protect them and it's good fun to see what kind of ragged-ass barely won victories you can pull off when it ain't your goods on the line. Or, just witnessing an absolute disaster unfold beyond your control from a front row seat.

 

And, when I've had enough, just leave, no further obligation. Best of both worlds. If nothing else it reinforces my conviction that lone wolf life is the best for me when it comes to running my own businesses.

Liberty City Stories is available in the App Store & Google Play if you like.

 

If you like to play it on PC, you can run the Android version using an Android emulator. It should have simplified controls if its anything like the other 10th anniversary edition GTAs.

 

As for VCS, perhaps run the PSP version through an emulator? The PSP didn't have L2/R2 buttons, that should make it more tolerable on keyboards.

Heist progress like in the middle of an active heist? I'm not sure.

 

Or heist progress as in you completed all 3? If so, you won't lose your progress. Your trophies are carried over to your new facility.

A quick question: is special cargo still 2x for anyone else? I restarted the game after tuneables dropped, got the two log-in bonus tees right away and while I didn't play any survivals yet, I noticed from job menu that they were bonus'd this week. Yet just a moment ago, after quite many session jumps in the past 24 hours via sp and invite only sessions, I noticed that special cargo is still 2x for me; a single crate was worth 20k, two crates 44k, and the seven crate set I sold was around 170k or so. [Edit:] And all these seven crates I sourced to an empty warehouse this morning, so they couldn't have been any 'old bonus bug'.

I'm considering Android version, although I don't hope that controls will be better enough for me not to get annoyed with the game. PSP version is absolutely out of the question, because I can't legally obtain nor the copy of the game, neither BIOS for the game itself. I'll check the android version, probably, thanks. Anyway, after playing it a bit on PS2 emulator I'm not sure it's worth the efforts, these games are not as iconic as the core III and VC.

Wel, good to know the trophies remain. But I feel the setups were a bit annoying to go through a second time (despite doing it with flying colours) but I suppose I could gamble it. I hope I at least get a warning message or something.

 

I guess I better use my free orbital cannon shot since I'm not sure that one carries over.

What's going on with freemode events in this game? I've been in the same session for a long time and it used to be just event - challenge - event - challenge, etc. For atleast 4 or 5 of each.

But now the last 8 freemode events have been nothing but 4 bbs and 4 challenges.

What is going on? I remember last Friday I never even saw any events at all, just bbs and challenges.

Now the same thing is happening???

Yeah, both games were poorly made and half-assed from the get go. I finished them, but never cared for them.

 

Imo the only good thing about LCS is the music. Liberty Jam is much much better than The Beat 102.7. it have that real East Coast vibe that The Beat never captured.

 

I might buy LCS eventually now that I'm back in the Android fold, but the other GTAs take priority of course.

 

I understand, it was merely a suggestion in case you came across a cheap new or lightly used PSP.

You should've moved a couple of weeks when the Facilities and all of its upgrades were 40% off.

 

Yeah, I agree regarding the setups. Especially the Deluxo and RCV missions (names escape me at the moment).
