Name changes are starting tomorrow later today for US and tomorrow for the rest of the world on Playstation BUT issues have been identified when a name is changed in GTAV

 

I've reached out to Rockstar few months ago when the name change was announced and they have told me that both games Grand Theft Auto V and Red Dead Redemption 2 will support name changes but maybe they just give me a generic answer and tests have proven otherwise.

Oh boy. The Insurgent w/ Turret one, isn't it? Been there. It wasn't a full session PER SE, but yes.

 

OT: obtained the Zancudo hangar, ran an Air-Freight op where I need to obtain some cargo from a Merryweather Lazer squad...... so much wrong here. The mission was top-f*ckin'-fun, don't get me wrong. But the Lazers and Buzzards. WHY do they constantly respawn? The 1st Lazer haven't even touched the ground and another spawned. RIGHT BEHIND MY ASS. Worst of all, when I reached the hangar and air-delivered the cargo, as soon as the mission passed everyone in the base turned hostile on me, not just the Buzzard that was hugging my butt all the time. Ran inside the hangar just in time: had a sliver of health left. Jerks

DEFINITELY not gonna depend on Air-Freight missions to get money.

What? This only happens if you fire at things inside the base, OR you don't own the hangar. Unless Rockstar broke something else.

I Air-Delivered the package while an enemy buzzard was chasing me, if that counts.

That is exactly the reason. I've checked out the stats recently and not a single of top ten streams was about vanila GTAO. Makes me wonder why am I even playing it on PC?

Every time I time out loading into a session, or rejoin after suspending the app, the black screen message is about a Rockstar matchmaking error, nothing else. I dunno what they're up to, but this is a definite change.

It's incredible what a short few weeks of break/absence does to this game.

 

I'm now in the last stretch of my GTA IV playthrough, having just started TBoGT and finished a couple of missions plus some side activities, with the entirety of Max Payne coming after.

 

However, I still log in to GTAO weekly to get the current unlockable freebie (if there is one) and spend a maximum of twenty minutes there in case I remember there is something I am not wholly satisfied with in my garages or cars. And it's with this scarcer time spent on it that I come to appreciate the smaller things like how far the movement has come since IV and the much snappier and more fun car handling (in its own way - as I am still a fan of IV's "boat-like" driving).

 

Just the other day, for example, I drove my Duke O' Death from the Arena Workshop all the way to my Facility in Route 68 and was smiling the whole way as I weaved through both the traffic and the windy roads up in the hills. I even had fun evading or crashing head on into the lunatics that populate the roads of San Andreas. I can guarantee you that it couldn't be any more different to how I felt back when grinding for rank 1K.

 

In the end, I am glad I was able to break away from the unhealthy obsession of wanting to unlock everything (looking at that offensive progression system in Arena War) and could break away from this game's dominant grip and just distract myself with other games and activities.

 

I am now more eagerly anticipating the next update to put some more time into this one game and actually enjoy myself for a bit. Then, once that is done, it's done - no need to feel obligated to play it if I don't want to. Hopefully this reignites some of my passion towards it as I do want to like GTAO.

 

In short: This game is best played and lived in short bursts. That's how I feel it retains its appeal and allows one to look beyond the ever-present cracks in the pavement.

 

Funny thing is, I'd imagine this is part of what Rockstar wants everyone to feel. Play the game, engorge their player numbers for a bit, but don't do it too much so there's the "option" for you to buy into their macrotransactions and give the investors back some cash.

Take your bets on how many times other players kill me in freeroam tonight. 

 

Next game. Apparently I am the only person on the forums that can get a decent Arena Wars lobby to fill up. Guess how many games I can play with a more than half full lobby.

 

It's ok if nobody plays, I am gonna keep track anyways. It's 9:26 pm. Just loaded into a session with 28 people. Time starts now.

Personally, I only rarely get attacked by people in public lobbies, and it's almost always just somebody flying over, firing rockets or dropping bombs indiscriminately. I don't usually make myself a target - if I'm going to make a sale or do a freeroam mission, I lag into a solo session - but I also typically avoid other players at all times, and I don't fight back when somebody does try to get at me. I haven't been too involved in Arena War after the first few weeks, but I do still see plenty of players entering/exiting the Maze Bank Arena, so I figure there're still people having fun with it, even on PC. Just not as enticing to the masses without the bonuses, and waiting for players is, as always, incompatible with the impatient.

Sourced 2 cars. Sold one. Sold 420k of guns to LS. Got the 5 stop insurgent one. 

 

Only squeezed in two arena war games. Had 10 people and 8 people.

I have a theory that no one, not even the scummiest of scumbags bother you, simply because they know what the old man is capable of, in other words, your basically Yoda, only unlike Yoda, everyone is well aware your not harmless, and thus avoids bothering you on principal.

I saw a functioning taxi in online tonight.  I got in it and he asked me where to like single player.  I don’t think I’ve seen a taxi in online before.  Had anyone else?

They used to appear in traffic back in the day, but they removed them early on.

 

You have to call one now to get it, looks like someone in your session called one & the taxi didn't despawn afterwards.

Driving the Arena Wars taxi will spawn them at Downtown's Mirror Park base, dunno about in traffic.

Withdraw some money from your bank and the taxi company will pick up the call.

 

P.S.: You may want to turn on passive mode before getting in the cab as you become defenseless.

I don't think they respond in Online, the cab just appears across the road and shows up with an icon on the map.

Its a long shot, but worth asking, does driving it spawn the Crown Vic cop car at the station?

I got this to spawn in online by doing one of the MC challenges where you have to cause damage to vehicles with melee hits from a bike, occasionally a squad car appears in the map and it's worth more points than normal cars, the random squad cars you get in the traffic during that challenge are usually this one and the buffalo police car

If you check the trailer for the Bikers update, one of the members of the MC actually drives near a buffalo police car even though it doesn't spawn normally in traffic in online.

Yeah I heard about that method.

 

Also, if you complete the Pacific Standard PostOp van setup or the SV work End of Transmission it'll sometimes spawn at the East Los Santos station ... The Crown Vic that is.
