Anon:Work history is just mundane bar and retail jobs before I graduated from University, then joined Rockstar QA. I like video games beyond all reason, finding every wee bit interesting no matter how weird. Probably sounds very boilerplate but I just love those wee tricks devs use to make mechanics work (a lot of trees in older games are just 2d rotating sprites that constantly face you, evident while flying in Far Cry 3 and you look down), or engine quirks.
What does the role involve?
The role involved testing along a test sheet of basic scenarios they knew would throw bugs, and keeping an eye out for anything happening otherwise. Because it was open world GTA Online, we’d use a cheat menu to gift ourselves the sh*t we needed to test, but sometimes that would birth bugs of their own. Also had to be aware of what others were doing in the server, as we live tested with a couple of separate QA teams. Had to keep track of a bonkers amount of info at once.
Can you give us a specific example of what you might be responsible for?
A specific responsibility might be handling payments after sell missions. You tool up your business to have X product, then you get other testers to go do the mission while you note all the variables (product being sold, from where, mission difficulty, how many players in server, if any product gets damaged/lost), then trawl through the figures given to us by design on how much those missions should pay out, to make sure the correct amount is taken. Notepads, spreadsheets and shouting across the room to keep track of it all, and a keen eye needed to see any wacky behaviour happening.

 

I wonder if this guy was present during the development of Smuggler's Run.

Never know about this rusty difference, lol, so you play PC version, I am not sure if you can spawn it naturally.

No, not without any rust.

 

There are 10 levels of rust (1-10). Finding the rustiest version (10) of a vehicle isnt that difficult, but it will revert back to the least amount of rust (1) once you store it in a garage and restart the game. Afaik, there is no way to make the rust stick, at least on PS4

I just had a raid on my cocaine lab. I though they were disabled??? I also thought that I had no supplies or product there. And of course I f*cking failed to defend my cocaine because when I was supposed to steal the van with my workers I was aiming at the van driver when a f*cking NPC ran me over and killed me!!!!!!!!

They fixed it with a tunables update yesterday.

 

Remember when all of a sudden all the cars in the dripfeed got released? That was Rockstar adding raids back and blocking off Bahama Mama's again. They just screwed up and released all the cars for like 30 mins as well.

I also wanted to do the same thing but then I realised I can only afford one of them.

 

Went for Starling since it is cheaper. Gotta wait for next discount so I can get myself a Pyro.

I did not get the message that the time was a world record like others posted, just the notification about the award and the unlock when I was back in freeroam.

 

Edit: And this is not a "random" player.

Congrats on getting the award, mrgstrings. I got mine when the verified stunt races came around, by the end of 2016. Back then I was trying to complete all the awards and a World Record seemed to be almost impossible due to cheated times and lack of new races.

 

Best part is that I also got the Hole-In-One for golf that exact same day.

Day one of new races is just about the only time that unlock is possible anymore. I waited years and still only managed to get it because I was working from home on the day Transform Races dropped.

 

R* should remove all the obviously cheated WR times.

I know, right? The evidence is there! They should reset the WR, and send all those kiddie losers a mean message and perma-lock the racing blonde tattoo for them
