piko
Does anyone have a list of all the pager messages in these games? Some seem pretty random and only appear at certain playing time, some may also reference movie quotes, for example this (taken from IMDb): 2010 (1984) The player eventually receives a pager message that says "My god... It's full of stars..." Would be interested to hear any other ones like this, from London-games too. Sektor
The english text from GTA1 (includes mission text): http://gtamp.com/GTA1/gta1-english.fxt.txt I think these are all the pager messages. The starting number may also be a reference to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2600_hertz but the player would only see those numbers if they edited the files or looked it up on a fan forum in 2017. piko
Wow, there's certainly a lot of them.. Is there any way to know when will a certain message appear though like after a certain time or what?
Sektor
They are triggered based on locations but they are on a delay so you could have moved far away in any direction from that location by the time they appear. Some tutorial here that is confusing to me since I forgot everything about GTA1 mission code: https://projectcerbera.com/gta/1/tutorials/random-pager All the trigger locations would be in mission.ini, maybe someone will document them one day but I don't think there's much significance. I'm more interested if any of the messages are quotes or references. I tried entering the phone numbers into phone to word converters but they didn't come up with anything. It would be awesome if they used those 555 numbers in later games. 9424047 is most likely a Monty Python reference. It's mentioned in episode 24, about 7 minutes in: I only know that because google found this http://www.ibras.dk/montypython/episode24.htm Edited July 21, 2017 by Sektor DimitriFaustin and Eugene H.
