Which research items are worthwile?

Which research items do you find worthwhile, i.e. do you use on a regular basis after you get them?

 

I've just started the bunker stuff, so thus far not much experience other then it takes hell of a lot of time, so I'd like to hear some experiences from ppl that are longer in the business ;-)

 

Things I think can be useful:

- upgrades for the Tampa

- Missiles for the bike

- Explosive rounds for the sniper

 

Other things ppl are enthusiastic about? Disappointments on the above mentioned items?

Professional Amateur

In my opinion:

APC rocket battery

Vehicular Proximity Mines

Halftrack Quad 20mm Cannons

 

-The rockets fire ludicrously fast and vaporise anything they detonate near.

-The proximity mines are quite convenient in police chases. Or good for just randomly dropping them and killing other players if that's your kind of play style.

-The quad cannons on the halftrack absolutely shred vehicles and I find it to be particularly useful for a run of the Pacific Standard- Convoy setup.

- Dual miniguns for Tampa

- Mortar for Tampa

- Missiles for Tampa

- All armors for Tampa

- Promixity Mine for all specific vehicles

- Missiles for Oppressor

- Missiles for APC

- Minigun for Dune AF

- Thermal scope for Heavy sniper Mk II

- Explosive rounds for Heavy sniper Mk II

 

Disappointing researches

- Every single livery research

The only ones I have really used as of now are the weapon modifications and rockets for the Oppressor. Although that may change if I decide to buy another one of the new Gunrunning vehicles in the future.

which weapon mods do you use? seems like an disadvantage that you can carry less ammo, and it's more expensive. So wonder if it's worth it

The Pistol MK II and Combat MG MK II are the two I just have as the base upgrades, with no special ammo since as you said it drastically limits the ammo capacity which isn't helpful since I use those two quite a lot. As for the others, I have explosive on the Heavy Sniper MK II of course, that I actually use. The SMG MK II, Carbine MK II, and Assault Rifle MK II have the Full Metal Jacket rounds, Armor Piercing rounds, and Hollow Point rounds in them. Although that is more just to have the special rounds readily available, I never actually use them so I can't really personally say if those are worth it. The explosive rounds are definitely worth it though, of course. I also use the special scopes, grips, and muzzles.

But after that one top tier unlock, I suppose explosive rounds and oppressor missiles if you have the bike. The Tampa weapons are pretty awesome too.

Well its a huge deterrent. Sometimes the most hardcore tryhards will still win but I can usually get jets down with the explosive rounds. Two shots and thats all it takes. The oppressor usually lets people know My manuverabilty is max so sniper rounds are about the only chance they got. Ive had players fire off homing rockets and I just laugh bouncing roof tops on the oppressor. The trailer and apc have no chance against it. It eats insurgents for lunch. Sneak up unload rockets and sneak away in the darkness. That thing is the new griefers toy for sure.

Yes... I'm experiencing that. With 30/45 items researched I've almost got every stupid livery, but still a crappy Tampa en no explosive rounds for my sniper..

 

Maybe I'm sceptic, but I suspect Rockstar they prioritize the liveries, and give you one relatively usefull item every few liveries saving best for last...

Maybe I'm sceptic, but I suspect Rockstar they prioritize the liveries, and give you one relatively usefull item every few liveries saving best for last...

 

 

I honestly feel it's entirely up to the RNG Gods. Here is what I've unlocked so far in order:

 

- Rear turrets for my MOC

- Livery

- Hollow Point Rounds for the Pistol

- Armor piercing rounds for the Assault Rifle

- Livery

- Rockets for the Tampa

- FMJ rounds for the Machine Pistol

- Livery

- Armor Piercing rounds for the Sniper

- Thermal Scope for the Sniper

- (currently working on night vision scope for the sniper)

 

Only in the case of the thermal scope and Tampa rockets did I bother "speeding up" the research and even then, only when I had to pay $45,000 to do so.

 

I regret the Tampa rockets.....Without homing capability, they're more deadly to me than anyone else. I either miss my targets by several feet in either direction or shoot a small hill directly in front of me blowing my car to kingdom come. They cost me $45,000 to unlock, $85,000 to install and over $160,000 in insurance fees and I've had them less than a week. THAT is your conspiracy theory. It's not the cost of developing them, its the cost of USING them.

 

I'd be willing to do another round of research and pay $150,000 to install 8 Ruiner 2K homing rockets instead of the 20 suicide sticks I currently have protruding from my grill.

The no lock on does suck, but I love it when I manage to hit something with them! :D

Underrated ones to look for (fast track only when the cost is low)? Holographic sights and heavy barrels for MKII MG/Carbine/AR.

The liveries could have beem left out of researching. I literally feel as if they put that there just to say, f*ck you pay me.

 

As a side note it does feel good when you unlock everything even by fast track then you can focus on making money. I really like comboing my apc with a buzzard or hydra or savage and being able to have 3 of these out at once is awesome.

When you bought and installed the missiles on your Tampa, is it possible to un-install and intstall them when you feel like?

Yes and no. You can uninstall and reinstall them whenever you want but like all car mods, if you remove them, leave the MOC, and then try to reinstall them later you will be charged full price again.

This question would be relevant if you could actually choose what items you want to research, its completely random. You could end up researching multiple items you did not want just to get the one that you were after.

I know...that is what is going to happen. With 9 items left, still not the armor for the Tampa f.i.. So I'll end up with all items researched.

 

However that's not the reason I asked.

 

I'm interested in what ppl use after they researched it, because I only want to buy the useful upgrades. I don't feel like flushing money through the toilet when I could 've asked others which items are worthwhile ;-)

Do holographic sights do anything more than the big and small scopes that don't require research?

explosive sniper and the rocket laucher turret on the APC for me, nothing else really mattered to me.
