Tales from the Borderlands. Twice. More like a teary choke up and not like a full on cry.

There is a scene that is a homage to 80's movies and I got a bit nostalgic.

A scene towards the end where you find out someone loves someone else. It was unexpected and too cute for me not to get an emotional lump in my throat.

My decision in Mass Effect 3 watered my left eye momentarily. I chose the original bad ending in the hope unmodified humanoids could rebuild civilization and build statues of me.

I was disappointed the crew let joker live. I would have shot him for desertion.

I wouldn't say cry, but games that hit me pretty hard were Walking Dead S1, Homefront The Revolution, Nier Automata, and Spec Ops: The Line.

How many times?

Video games haven't really touched me like that tbh.

I definitely did feel a bit of moisture in my eyes when The Last of Us ended though, which was weird because I went into it expecting just another open world shooter, but man, that game was incredible.

I can safely say that was the only game I truly enjoyed that was a Playstation exclusive. Everything else this gen (mostly PS exclusives) is trash.

I really do not necessarily cry playing video games or watching movies, but Metal Gear Solid 3's ending was a real tear jerker. The events that unfolded and with Eva's revelation of The Boss' true intentions was truly heart breaking. But it was when Snake saluted in front of her grave was when I really sobbed hard.

Also, the prologue to The Last of Us was very surprising and sad, but when Sam became infected and Henry had no choice but to kill his own brother's life and the guilt from that forced him to kill himself wasn't just shocking, but the whole situation itself really made me shed tears. I was speechless during and after than cutscene, it felt like I was there with them and I really have to give credit to the actors for making the scene so believable. Bravo Naughty Dog.

I think this scene shocked me and almost made me cry more on my recent 2nd playthrough of the game. TLOU mastered good storytelling, the complete buildup to the event was my favorite part of the game. How you meet those strangers and almost kill them, the odds force you to work together, it seems like they left you behind to die but save you, still don't trust each other and take seperate ways on the beach, are split apart - you with Sam and Ellie with the other guy and how you can spot Ellie take the toy that Sam wanted, ultimately giving it to him during his final speech about the afterlife.. damnit. They end it all with Henry's suicide where the screen fades black to silence and a time jump.

Truly a masterpiece.

RDR ending had me f*cked up. Not really crying but the game after John Marston's death plays out like a badass Mexican corrido. Didn't touch that PS3 for 2 weeks after finishing the game.

There wasn't any cases where i was bursting in cries, but of course there was times when i let some tears go. May contain spoilers.

The Last Of Us, Sarah's death.
This is the most suprising moment for me in terms of why i found it so sad. I've never showed love to children and game didn't least that long to show Sarah's character. But for some reason, that moment got me well, i don't want to watch it again (i didn't play TLoU, i watched full walkthroughs 3 times on YT), when i was passing by that moment, i tried not to look at the screen or something. It went even worse when i watched some of the backtages, when devs told how hard it was to make that scene.

STALKER Call of Pripyat, bad ending parts.
I watched a video showing every single bad ending part (collecting them all in 1 try isn't possible). Especially im getting penetrated by moments, when credit speaks about characters' deaths. It felt like it was player's fault, like you was there and could change it, but you failed.
The track itself makes me want to give a tear...

, i timecoded it.
Plus realisation that one of your favorite game franchise won't countinue...

The Walking Dead Season 1, Lee's VA cries.
Again, i didn't play TWD, but i watched walkthroughs 2 times and i didn't actually liked TWD that much. We know what happened at the end of the season and characters' emotions. If you choose "shoot" option and screen go black, you can hear Lee's last wheeze (if this word is right here). I thought that this was the air coming out of his lungs or something. But people in comment section claimed this wasn't planned. It was Lee's VA real cry because of emotions.
I didn't hear that wheeze for the first time i watched the game, but at the second time, when i already knew the story behind it, it got me real good.

Cry of Fear, 1-3 ending.

Personally, i don't like when my character dies after everything we've been through together. Fighting your way through mind's maze just do commit suicide? No way. Kinda makes player to blame for failing to save Simon.
One more thing what helped me to feel the character - some things in common. The storyline beginning is usual as it could be. A young man becomes a disabled in a car accident, unfortunately that's a common thing we see. The game's city architecture is kinda similar to city where i live at (not that far away from Sweden, that explains it). I got the same phone battery as Simon's. It's just a minor things, but makes you feel the character and game better. That's why i felt so bad about Simon's possible suicide. Couldn't hold a tear.
"Purnell, if you're reading this, i'm sorry, there was no other choice. I made up my mind, not everyone can be saved."

I still don't know why Marston's son gets so much hate. I thought he was very important to the game's overall themes.

I completed the last mission and achieved the 100% completion of the game at the same time, so I didn't play at all as Jack - maybe a couple hours.

Just finished RDR: Undead Nightmare, and man... it's so f*cking clever! Haha!

Well... I can think of two games, atleast twice for one of them.

Halo: Reach. First time I played that game to completion, the ending really hurt, even though it's coming the whole time. Despite its flaws and general lack of characterization, I think I felt a deep connection to my player character for the first time in a Halo game. Fighting out to the last, and seeing the final cutscene... I couldn't keep it together and sat through the credits bleary-eyed. SPARTAN-B312, you might've been burned and turned to glass, but those last few weeks were something to behold. Good work, soldier, and godspeed.

Kentucky Route Zero. A game definitely more close-hitting than Reach, and coming in at a time much more tender. Being from the same general area of the game's setting and liking the sort-of slow, thoughtful story experience the game was advertising, it intrigued me from the get-go. I got it on sale a year or so after it first released, and was blown away by the art, world, and writing before even spending an hour on it. Its main character brought back a lot of memories of my grandfather, and I cherished that. Then, only a short time after I really got into the rest of the game, my grandmother died, and KRZ turned into my last connection with them. The game itself packs punches and I think I'd probably cry just from how attached I've become to its characters, but seeing real people I've known in them has given it all the more impact.

Since RDR2 wasn't out when this thread was made it's a new candidate for testing my masculinity.

Without giving away too much without a doubt especially towards the end it has a lot of genuinely tear jerking moments not just in the story, but in free roam also. It might not be to everyones' liking gameplay wise, but I doubt anyone could play it without shedding a tear at some point. GTA IV and RDR1 are great, but this is a whole new level.

It's truly a masterpiece IMO.

There's never really been any gaming moments where I brought myself to tears but the scene of Roman being kidnapped and Jim Fitzgerald being tortured by Ray Boccino, both from GTA: TLAD, were the two closest to it.

The only game that has broken me is The Last Of Us and that still wasn't crying. Just a bit of wet eyes. That's a lot though for a soul-less cunt like me. I only may cry when I lose at something.
