Catchup glitch in racing

Hey guys,

 

I think there was a thread about this quite a while ago, but I can't find it for the life of me & I remember some guy reminding me of it fairly recently saying it was a "rare" occurrence in GTAO.

 

Essentially, I'm trying to understand what is causing the glitch that places the effects of catchup on a guy (even in a non-catchup race) seemingly by random (although we know it's rarely ever random).

 

It happens to me probably 1 in 10 races, so it's not a huge deal, but it's so annoying when it does happen.

 

basically it doesn't matter if it's catchup on or off (as with premium races it's set to off IIRC)... you'll just have the catchup effect where your car can only get into say 4th gear and no higher while everyone else can hit max gear & therefore max speed in the straights & this could be happening while you're in 3rd or any position, it's not locked to 1st place.

 

There was a guy from one of the racing crews who knew a little about it, but I can't find any solid info to avoid it happening on a more consistent basis.

Makes sense what the guy says because whenever I notice it happening, it's when I get into first place and then crashed out by someone and the effect stays on my car.
