What is cheating to Rockstar?

"Cheating" or "Glitching" are a VERY subjective words in a game of crime centered around felonious activities. The irony. :miranda: Did you know at the start of online game play, missions had a replay button? No matter how many times you played it? You could replay 50 times if you wanted to. But soon Rockstar said that was "Cheating", and blocked the replay if you passed. And something so simple as storing the police suburban was also "Cheating" or Glitching, which may trigger a ban, as well as a bunch of unknowns and the knowns. Obviously any money schemes will get you in the hot seat, but where is the line? Is it only money glitches? Bad sport ratings? Exploring a wall breach? Will I get banned for money given to me by a modder? :panic: What is Rockstars definition for being righteously banned, the Hows and Whys make me edgy

Hate to say it, but Rockstar has a fiduciary duty to its stockholders to show profit. That's the bottom line for them. In order to do that they have to keep players happy, making them want to play. Also they have to cut the cheaters and glitchers, basically anyone who may eat at their profit. The anti-cheat system they use Is catching all kinds of players for reasons unknown.

Rockstar define it as either exploiting a technical bug / glitch or hack to either gain an advantage whether that be financial or gameplay wise that can either effect the games economy or damage other people's experience

I understand why Rockstar are trying to crack down on it, as the online needs to be profitable to warrant additional content and the maintainence of servers to there shareholders as well as stakeholders.

Also Rockstar are in that grey area regarding what do they do if a hacker steals money etc when that player had spent real money to get that in game currency.

also I know I've found it annoying when I've either spent real life money or grinded a long time for something and find someone had glitched there way to get all the same items and more.

So as long as Rockstars clamp down does not effect people who are just enjoying playing the game whether that be offline (with or without mods) or online being strict on the in game economy I am happy

It's hard to say what R* sees as cheating on pc but they don't seem so strict on console, they're however usually fast with patching different money glitches tho

So, it's not enough you can play a game allowing you to do real world 'cheating', in essence, and felonious activities that would have severe real world consequences and yet, that is too much for you to handle and still feel the need to cheat at the game that allows you to do the 'cheaters' things? Like, what? 😕

Attempting to understand this bass-ackwards 'logic' leads to people jumping off 40th story balconies...

Cheating is cheating. You all know what it is and all you can do is make excuses for why you think what you're doing, isn't. There's a reason you are questioning the decisions you're making. Nobody playing fair and legit has to question, or make any excuses for, their actions.

I'd LOVE to see a link to Rockstar saying the replay option was removed because they consider it cheating.

I'll give you a helping hand - they did not.

go read the ToS and the EULA that you agreed to before going online and you would know what is cheating for them.

They see GTAO as a service not a product, simple as that. I frankly have no problem with that, especially if it means getting a continuous stream of new content catered mostly to the wishes of the community. Not always a believer in this method but it works for GTAO and I feel that R* handles it better than most devs would.

You can still repeat your favourite contanct mission back to back constantly...

Complete it once, create a playlist, add recently played, name it... Run it, vote like/dislike after, press square (on PS4, don't know Xbox/PC)... Takes about 15 seconds to restart the list as it's only one job...

Do as many as you want... Extra 100RP too, for 'winning' the playlist...Lol.

Actually, cheating and glitching are not subjective words.

They are subjective for people who intentionally try to misappropriate the definitions of cheating and glitching so as to avoid the reality that the things they do actually are cheating and glitching. AKA "alternative facts" people.

The best example of outright cheating that cheaters refuse to acknowledge is suicide spamming. Suicide spamming IS cheating, but tell that to someone who does it and he'll just turn it around on you and say "git gud" or "cowards" or "it's in the game" or use some other fallacious reasoning.

We all know what cheating and glitching look like, but only some of us have a conscience to be honest about it.

Another great example is the Pacific Standard Heist Finale glitch. That's cheating. Plain and simple. If you do it, you're a cheater.

It's not difficult to know what cheating and glitching is. Just consult your conscience (if you have one).

Glitched/modded money, fun, and any harmless glitches, like clothing. Wallbreaching and lag switching is okay.

The next question is, what is 'griefing' to Rockstar? Someone will come and try attack you for no reason, you kill him in self-defence, then he reports you for 'griefing' because he got butthurt that he failed the ambush or because he didn't think your kill on him was 'legitimate' for whatever reason. How will Rockstar possibly determine you're greifing? What's the criteria for griefing? Because many people here seem to have different criterias. How will Rockstar set the standard for griefing? Who determines the boundaries? Rockstar encourages griefing and blowing up people's vehicles while, at the same time, condemning it by giving you BS points and, for some reason, adding in a griefing option for reporting. I swear, these devs have multiple personality disorder. Too many important questions are being left unanswered.

I'm starting to think Rockstar has completely forgotten about these things.

My main questions are what Rockstar considers cheating. Bans hitting PC players hard, and soon may hit console players as well. Playing music in the background can get you a Mic Temp ban. That's Not cheating, but can get you BS points. Farming Used to be frowned on. Now its ok. Mask/Glitch ok now as well. Killing little Bobby 20 times and calling him a pu$$y is reportable for various reasons, and can get you in a BS lobby. But it's not cheating. Are they using BS points to flag players? Again where is the lline in the sand? Is it only Money Glitches? Griefing using a wall breach is akin to a level 500 trouncing a level 1 with their mini-gun, they both have an unfair advantage. One is cheating the other isn't, but end results are the same.

Are you acquiring more money than Rockstar wants you to? You're cheating.

Are you buying Shark Cards? No? You're cheating.

The sad part is I'd pay them $5, maybe even $10 a month if they'd stop worrying so goddamn much about how much money people had and gave us reasons to play. Let me play the same goddamn heist finale until my eyes bleed and I have billions in the bank...if that's what I want to do, so be it. If I want police cruisers in my garage, why the f*ck not? I'd rather pay them monthly and have them care about the experience than not pay them a dime and see key components of the game be influenced by their greed.

And that's why people cheat. More time is spent creating parameters designed to slow you down and reduce your pay in hopes you'll give them money. So basically, anything you do to disrupt that is cheating.

Happy Hunter

Though not quite considered cheating, having the audacity to get into a weak, underpowered, paper helicopter - well if anyone dares to do that then a whole load of cheesy weapons and features stream down like diarrhoea into the game, just so the "1v1 p*ssy!" people don't feel like the inferior players they are.

It's only cheating if you get caught :p

As someone once famously said, "wasn't me."

Rockstar came in and they caught me redhanded

Glitchin' my cocaine and meth.

Picture this, I was left there stranded,

Suddenly ran out of breath.

There on my TV there was

A message about my ban.

All this time they were standing there,

They never took their eyes off me.

But they caught me duping lowriders (wasn't me)

Saw me glitching a t-shirt on (wasn't me)

I even pleaded to some modders (wasn't me)

This is Rockstar there is no fun!

Do a heist not allowed tricks (wasn't me)

Empty session this is now fixed (wasn't me)

Play legit and you'll sh*t bricks (wasn't me)

Rules are there they're just quite mixed!

It'll be interesting to see if there's any fallout to the new PS4 director mode glitch.

I'm seeing garages full of Oppressors, God mode and props spawned in free roam.

Thank f*ck for MTU.
