I'm highly anti-social, with barely no friends outside this community so Facebook and Twitter have little purpose for me. I have accounts, but I only use them like once a month or even less. The only real social networks I use frequently are YouTube and DeviantArt, because of the content. To me, the content is much more important than the people. And Facebook is filled with pictures of people, babies, cats, christian crap and other boring sh*t. I know that both YouTube and DeviantArt are also the housing of a lot of crap, but at least you can somewhat choose what you want to see and not let them throw the sh*t right at your face like FB and Twitter do, just because said sh*t was liked by your friends or relatives.

A thing I f*cking hate is to see how everyone on the street, public transportation and other places is constantly looking at their phones without even caring about their surroundings, not giving a damn about the world around them. Some people I know say that I'm very observant, but I feel that's just because I'm not texting all the time when I'm outside. In fact, I try to use the phone as little as possible when I'm not at home.

Social Media is what you make of it I guess. Sometimes I read stuff for the comments alone, but on every platform you can pick who you follow/befriend, so while it can encourage a lot of negativity, it's also a useful platform for many reasons.

I have a Facebook because all my family and work colleagues on it, and I have some friends on it, some who live very far away. It's good for Messenger if you need to keep in touch with closely connected people, but I don't personally post status updates or pics of my dinner or sh*t like that on it, but I'll share things I find funny occasionally.

I use Twitter most of all, read it every day, but mainly on a news/promotional level because uNi and I like to keep the GTANet and RedDeadNet accounts active to bring traffic here. I have one in my own name but I'll only talk about games or TV or stuff that I would post about here; I don't have any "personal" account on it.

I have a private Instagram because I like to browse it for art and weird videos and such but don't actually post photos on it myself. Surprisingly ( :p) a lot of the pages I follow are these celebrity cats with disabilities or weird deformities as well...

I used to use Snapchat but now I can't be bothered. Everyone posts with a filter nowadays.

TBH I avoid using FB because there used to pop off uncensored pics of genitalia (both sex) when searching for some apparently good pages and even when i searched for people i met recently and wanted to add. Also, it happened often that when i want to chat, either that person is unavailable or will answer a day or more later when it's probably too late or even never.

I use Viber as a partial replacement for FB to stay in touch with family and friends, and the other partial replacements are Twitter (sometimes), this forum, online games, Youtube and Gutefrage (when i go German). Also, i find Reddit and Quora to be interesting, as i have many questions regarding various things.

What i learned from forums (i think) is that you can find people who can be your friends and still complete strangers at the same time. There are those who are always nice, fair and honest and will help you when needed, and also a bunch of uncivilised buttholes and those who can be funny sometimes when trolling. Usually communities and fandoms. I'm trying to find shelter in fandom when life begins to suck. Maybe it's not a good method because it can isolate you from reality even more than FB but currently i'd stay part of this community/fandom cause i might show you one day my projects/concepts i've been working on this year on spare time

Are you aware that there are plenty of services that provide you space to backup your data? There's Google Drive, Imgur, Dropbox, etc. And that without counting physical storage devices you can buy like external HDD's or a USB flash memory. You don't really need a social network for that. Good or bad the separation between a ''real social life'' and a ''fake one'' is becoming pretty blurry.

For instance i'v been on another forum for over 5 years now and know the people over there pretty intimately. Like, we have each other's phone numbers and talk daily and everything through WhatsApp groups or w/e; are they not ''real'' friend or lesser than some of the real life folk I know who I only occasionally touch base with? I think both relationships, digital or physical can be pretty genuine.

I avoid real social media since i am bad at bragging in a non-controversial way and...heck i am just bad at being non-controversial in general :p

Probably i would get flamed within the year by thousands of people just by one post that went viral and was misunderstood by millions of idiots.
