Doing something to free the unjustly banned

I'm just saying, there is a system that protects from cheating. It can not recognise if you asked the modder for money, or if you were the "victim". It's a justified ban, wether you knew what you were doing or not.

 

 

Then rockstar is to blame, people playing the game normally just to get banned isn't a good thing. They have the money so they should be able to fix it. The system they have now is anti consumer and is broken. Its not a justified ban, its an idiotic ban.

 

Will people start considering this will occur in Red dead redemption 2? With so many people on pc wanting to play their game on solo /friends only mode to avoid this and other aspects of toxicity why would they not open that as an option even with a monthly fee? I would assume many would opt for the pay to play solo/friends only mode with next to zero chance to be effected by others to get tagged as cheating

Hey all! I logged in last night and just got the message. Banned for one month and told everything would be reset when I came back. My stats, my properties, money, cars, everything gone. I do believe there are people in this thread that got unjustly banned only because I've become one of them. In fact, the last time I was on before I got banned I did the Series A Funding heist and took a 0% cut lol...so much for being nice! I was a mid level 500. Never used cheats, exploits or used any mod menus or chat programs. Nothing running in the background. I've had money dropped on me before but that was back in 2016.

 

Anyway, I just wanted to tell any naysayers that not everyone here who got banned did anything wrong. Rockstar is just...I don't know what's wrong with these guys. I can only imagine the rage someone would feel after spending hundreds of dollars in shark cards to buy those overpriced vehicles, only to have that taken away with no chance to dispute any of those claims and to be expected to start from scratch and buy shark cards again. Really greasy business practices by Rockstar. No thanks.

 

I've been part of this community (under another account) for years and have met some really great and hilarious people here. We've had some fun times, fun topics and fun contests (Miss Los Santos) but it's time to call it in. I uninstalled the game and won't be looking back. Thanks for the great times everyone, see you elsewhere in the universe!

I am afraid Rockstar Games or Take-Two Interactive may adopt the policy:

Better let some legal loyal players be banned than admitting banning wrongfully players who bought the game and did nothing wrong.

Admitting a bug in the ban-trigger (anti cheater software) might be even more bad for the shareholders than a little sh*tstorm of the wrongfully banned ones.

I understand the anger, but as someone who has just joined the forum, you might not be aware that this happened in 2017 and it seemed most people were un-banned and got their accounts back.

 

Nothing is for certain but my advice would be to wait a bit and see what happens. For sure, if I got banned and they didn't restore my account I'd jack it in. But based on the number of posts on their support site, here, and negative steam reviews in the last 24 hours, I think they will have to reverse it.

 

What I would say is raise a support ticket to say you've been wrongly banned. You will almost certainly get a cut and paste response but it will take all of 30 seconds. And who knows what Micky Mouse procedure they'll use to re-instate people. They might, for example (dangerously) assume that any who raise a ticket to complain wasn't a cheater, and anyone who doesn't raise a ticket was a cheater (on the basis those people would understand the ban). Anyway, creating as much noise (collectively) as possible increases the chances they will fix it.

 

I haven't been banned (yet, and still quite frankly feeling slightly anxious - me and my friends are thinking of starting our final push on CMM III today, and I've been considering aborting, not sure if logging in will increase chances of a ban). However, I've emailed R* mouthoff to supply some constructive criticism around their coms on the matter. In my view they should acknowledge this has gone wrong and that they are investigating, and reassure they will look to re-instate anyone wrongfully banned.

In all seriousness though, I used to be absolutely fearful of receiving a wrongful ban prior to all this back when I got my copy of GTA V back in 2015, so much so I only played a majority of my playtime in invite only lobbies. Seeing as people can say things like "Not this again" says a lot of Rockstar's anti cheat.

 

Hopefully Rockstar fixes this for all of you, but I still haven't forgotten my missing 2.7mil from August last year.

If SaltyGTAFMember was paying any attention to this forum or other information that was provided both here and on Reddit and some other forums and even the support section of Rockstars own support forum then he/she would have known that this massive banwave is Rockstars mistake. They did something wrong and innocent players are paying the ultimate price for their inability to code their AntiCheat properly. Now I know that you will say that there are no innocent players in GTA Online and yes, I do agree with all the menu trouble we have been trough on PC but this situation that is happening these few days is alarming and we still don't have any official response as to why and how this situation will be fixed and like someone already said, they will probably do it silently.

 

I just hope that all of our accounts don't get ''damaged'' or wiped after all of this is over. I don't like seeing innocent and legit players be a ''collateral damage'' in this mishap.

I don't think they can wipe that under any carpet - that'll be a mountain in no time. Regarding my counting: ~2,000 players only on steam - guess the same ammount on Socialclub makes 4k players at least are hit.

The players you see posting wont even be 10% of the total of those banned. But I bet Rockstar have a big enough carpet, if they were to publicly admit a ban error.. that would defeat the legitimacy of any future auto bans. They will never admit it imho.

From a PR perspective I think they'd be better admitting they f*cked up, apologies and fix it. I think people would trust them more - knowing that if you did accidentally get swept up in a banwave, that they'd fix it. If they say nothing, you wonder if you'll get done one day and they'll do diddly about it.

 

Auto-banning is crazy though, as this, and the 2017 problem shows.

 

I get there's a cheater problem, but a more sensible thing would be to auto-kick those registering out of online - not ban them. Players kicked may lose and afternoon of gaming, but then that can be sorted out with a ticket, or developers reviewing the situation and realising if a load of players are being booted out something has gone wrong. Bans and character resets should only be taking place after a manual review in the cases where it is 100% certain the account has been cheating. Manually reviewing every player would be expensive, but as a safe-guard to checking what the detection algorithms report it shouldn't be prohibitive (if their algorithm isn't blaming everyone who logs on).
