Just got into a live chat.. same cut & paste answers... they closed the chat abruptly... haha...

I like how he wrote that "all banns are valid", because they obviously are not because there are people who have been banned during the gta online tutorial amd because some people have been unbanned.

I suspect that gta 5 will be the last game from R* and TakeTwo that I bought. Just like NfS Hot Pursiut was the last EA game I bought.

Hey I will keep on chatting with them... Somehow it seems thats the only entertainment GTA Online has to offer...

I will try and ask if R* simply suggests me to quit this game once and for all... They are the support, they ought to answer customers concern right?

If we can see people with rank 7000 in sessions, anti-cheat is not working properly, period. It's not about who's guilty and who's not, we should be sure that anti-cheat is not working as it should be working. Once again checked my modded account and contacted friends with modded accounts, they're completely fine.

"GTA Online suspensions are triggered by a number of factors" - they forgot to mention the single biggest cause "when R* f*ck up their banning algorithm".

Whilst these conversations appear to be futile, I'd still advise those affected to keep at it. The reason being is that answering these calls and live chats costs R* money. That's especially true because its via an outsourced company, so any incremental impact will be felt when there is a surge in demand. This helps increase the chance that someone in T2 finance will see the increased cost, get worried and push to have a greater look at it all.

TO ALL PLAYERS WHO GOT AFFECTED,

The more I think of it, the more we should all try Live Chat route (As long as its not under "Ban Issue" category, it will have a "Live Chat" Function)..

I am not here trying to get anyone fired.. but at least it's another way to let R* understands that those cut & paste answers provided to Live Chat support are simply not enough to satisfy our concern.

Each and everytime after the live chat session, the ticket will be marked as 'solved'.. Do try to rate it as bad as possible and input your opinion... Try and let R* notice how bad the so called "Support" are...

Maybe its a way...

They should simply shut down the anti cheat and let players play as it is... Whats the point of fixing it when they apparently aren't capable of AND at the same time, making the situation worse than before?? haha...

They have RDR2 coming... another income source... who cares about this 5 yrs old game... let it rot i say.... :panic:

My brother has been unbaned and restored (from first ban wave).

Angry level descending XD

Sorry just to be clear was that a straight unban, or unban after re-ban? Trying to ascertain if R* have done anything more after the re-ban that happened a couple of days ago.

He was baned on first wave. Opened 4 or 5 tickets receiving auto answer. Unbaned yesterday.

Not rebaned as far I know. We use to play at evening so we will see in a few hours. (Greenwich time zone)

I have such little faith in R* and Take Two now.

I always played clean, I hate cheaters and hackers, they completely ruin and destroy games. But at least in every other game you dont run the risk of having your legit account falsely banned.

I'm not logging into GTA Online until there's some solid progress made by R* to fix not only their god awful anti-cheat but their business practices in general.

There's greed and then there's just gluttony. R* has proven they have no issues at all wiping legit cash or banning legit players if it means they'll make a few more dollars out of them to feed their shareholders insatiable lust for dividends.

3rd time sent a ticket under other and avoided words such as ban etc, same automated response.... Still temp banned and all my inventory will bee wiped... fck this game I'm out unless they reimburse legit players with their items etc

I'm still missing some of my friends who I know are 100% legit. Some of them were quite active lately in game before upbandate. Disapeared.

I also saw today two friends fulls of moded money who never been baned. They didn't even heard a word of the ban wave. And this shocks me because there's some moders in their crew, and they use to do glitches, exploits etc.

I think R* had enough time to move whatever they think they should move to fix this mess. So ppl who are not unbaned right now maybe won't be...

Hackers banned will be here in miliseconds...

My only hope is R* learned something of all this sh*t to the future. Call me a dreamer XD

R* pulled this sh*t last year. Wiped legit money from legit players, SOME got it back a few days later. Some literally got 'you have been awarded $0' messages when R* wiped millions off their acoc*nt.

They wiped 600k legit from me, and then months later all I received was a shark card bonus....if I bought shark cards.

Having some money wiped is a pain, but having your account reset. hell no. Ive spent maybe $1.2k - 1.3k AUD on shark cards and 200-250 AUD on the game for 3 systems. Never hacked, dont hack, hate hackers.

But friggin hell, playing GTA Online legit is Russian roulette. Meanwhile, hackers and modders run rampant, care free. If they get banned....meh, just go buy another $5 modded account and do it again.

R* and Take Two are such disgustingly grotesque money gluttons now. Snouts in the trough, gorging themselves on cash while spending a dime on outsourced support who auto-close tickets and dont even read or comprehend reports.

I can complain about a networking problem and whoever the illiterate turd on support reads it, will provide me with advice for a graphical issue and suggest updating gfx card drivers for a port issue.

Like, did this jack ass even READ my report or just skim it and then copy paste some generic reply.

"Hello doctor, my throat hurts"

"Here's some anti-fungal cream for your foot"

Or

"Im pregnant when is my baby due?"

"I wouldn't worry about that, your kidney isnt scheduled to be removed for another 2 weeks"

Sorry to hear that.

I hope that the problem is being caused by the people who actually make being decisions being out because it's Easter, and therefore the generic support agents just spam out the default computer says no response until they're told otherwise. It's a lot more worrying if R* think the current mess they've created can be left as it is now.

Considering how they handled the money wipe mess and covered it up, this will follow the exact same pattern. Past behaviour is a good indicator of future behaviour.

There is no communication from R*

Trying to raise support in the community elicits no response from R* and the fanboy trolls just spam 'you cheated, enjoy your ban' despite that we know false positives occur as they did when players got bans for running Discord in the background.

I expect more erroneous money wipes and false positive bans in the future. These punish legit players while the hackers dont care, not one bit. They'll just buy another cheap account and hack it all back.

Unless the community do something more noticeable like refuse to play for a whole weekend or do a mass stream, or some such sh*t that'll get some attention (and even then R* wont give a toss) I think R* will just ignore this and move on.

They didnt fix their sh*t algorithm after the legit money wipe and now it has escalated to banning and account wipes.

I guess if gamers boycotted RDR2 it might get their attention, but back to reality now.... probably very few will do that.

So R* won't notice anything and won't care. The cycle of abuse will continue.

Say goodbye to the game then, no offence. R* won't change and I'm next to you in line. When I'll get banned I'm gone forever. Not a single dime will be spent on their products. But I think more people will follow because next games R* develops will be centered around micro-transactions from the ground up. If there will be next games apart from RDR.

With a product line like that quality support MUST be essential and easy to afford.

You know, I probably wouldn't be as mad if they actually caught cheaters, but...

This is pretty much the AAA game with the worst cheater problem. Couple that with the fact that legit players get screwed over on a regular basis (bans, money wipes...) without the cheaters getting affected in any way...

Yea well, that's just hilariously sad.

Not all 7000-lvl players are cheaters though. Some are victims of the RP injections and the incompetent suport team who refused to reduce the level to it's original value.

These reports do point to it having been some innocent third party software or something to do with user's hardware configurations being falsely identified as a mod menu triggering a ban. Which would make sense. If they were going after things like exploits such as dupe glitching, we'd have expected to see impacts on the PS4 and XboxOne.

Out of interest, has any user with more than one account been banned on one and not the other having logged on to both from the same computer between 23rd - 29th March?

If it's got something do with 3rd party software somehow hooking into GTAV's process & memory (Which at the moment I'm still doubting even tho it is possible) I'd be curious if anyone has fresh OS lying around and a Social club account registered with GTAV so they can test if it's software causing the bans. A fresh OS with just the components that V needs to run should be a good test and if no bans are applied to the account after a couple of hours (I'd give it 3-4 days at the most after installing and testing) then we know it's a software problem or something triggering the banhammer. Just Go to invite only first when you can and see how long it takes to get banned.

I'm still writing a ticket everyday asking for my account to be manually reviewed instead of relying on an anti cheat proven to be working falsely, but it's just the usual copy paste response. At this point I doubt I'm getting my account back.

It might be worth writing an email to Rockstar Games Mouth off to express concerns about the banning system, which I have done. Whilst that is unlikely to get anyone their account directly, if enough people do it then it may consider re-thinking their policy and re-visiting the cases still banned.

Guess I'll try that too, do you have the mail address? When I googled it I found a few different ones.

I have about a month old install of windows 10 (Windows decided to go f*ck itself by corrupting multiple files) and i have not received a ban for logging on yesterday and Saturday. So take that if it helps.

Much appreciated for that information.

If anyone still reads the OP for updated information when they come into this topic perhaps someone can speak to Happy Hunter and get him to make a section in he's OP for those who are on fresh OS's with just V and it's components installed. If we can get more reports from people on Fresh OS's with just V installed then it'll narrow it down that something is getting into the other members GTAV's processes which shouldn't normally be there. If anyone is not on a fresh OS install, can you please try and see if anything is hooking into V's process. I have reason to believe (as read in the past a long time ago) that when you go online a check is performed and if the game sees you have modified files it won't let you on.

not counting modifications made to GTAV but If something is getting into V process I'm wondering if it's an anti-virus scanner or GPU tweaking software or some other kind of program. Bit annoying tho that these cause you to be auto-banned despite not modifying the games files but hook into V's process anyway.

Thanks, I suspect whatever caused the initial problem has been removed from the code since they un-banned a portion of those affected (when was it, Wednesday the 28th, or the Tuesday?) Otherwise, they'd all be getting re-banned. As for those that stayed banned, perhaps they used other criteria (equally faulty from my observations). But it would be interesting to know what triggered it in the first place.

Wasn't it MSI afterburner that was falsely identified by the anti-cheat as a problem in 2017?

Regarding third party software does avast anti virus count? It detects games and silences notifications.

Also I'm guessing it's safe to assume nvidia software isn't causing gta to ban you.

Using nvidia since '15, nothing besides my bans for "modding".

I think vanilla Nvidia is ok(screenshots and Shadowplay), but I would advice to not use Nvidia Freestyle(its something optional) just to be sure. Maybe some peoples using the latter expansion could tell you more, but in my case Freestyle was also enabled lately. So I removed that crap to play on my main account. Theorically GTA5(and online?) is supported by Nvidia Freestyle, and R* says everything is ok; don't trust R*; at this point they don't know what they're talking about.

PS: in this thread someone mentions that NVIDIA Freestyle uses Reshade(which probably caused the utter deletion of my alt account character yesterday, after surviving the last banwave ;()

https://forums.guru3d.com/threads/how-to-bypass-nvidia-freestyle-to-working-on-all-games.419619/

Yes, I've been using Reshade+SweetFX, Freestyle. Idk, its maybe multifactorial, it was so much fun to switch between effects and all that, you can pick various filters, make GTA looking like The Walking Dead/Narcos and all those new series :/. No fun allowed.
