I don't understand what shark cards have to do with banning, I don't think that buying shark cards will permit one to cheat and getting you in some kind of "no ban zone".

 

Then again, I do believe that some who bought shark cards, might have enough funds to start over, regadless of R*'s misshaps.

 

But that's just me, I'm usually wrong xD

Probably nothing. My previous comment was being partially facetious in that I can imagine a greedy T2 exec saying "wait, those players bought shark cards? No, no, we can't ban them. I don't care what they've done wrong, we make money out of them!"

 

My general perception of the ban wave is that it's a cock up not a conspiracy. Or if it is a conspiracy, it's one that was well and truly cocked up.

It's not a good advertisement for the game - if the moment you look it up you see the top results are telling you that you just randomly get banned.

^ it certainly makes it harder for them to ignore the problem. The end game of everyone creating noise about it, whether here, Reddit, R* forum, steam etc had to be to get the journos to notice and write about it. It's now not just players saying "this is wrong" it's professional outside observers.

Those people who are getting banned, it's possible that they might have received modded money from a hacker some point prior ? (maybe that can be a reason)

1, So far it's more of a pc issue,

 

2, I, for example, surely didn't as I got my first account (played 2 yrs) banned... Since it had been 2 years, I had no clue on the in and out about money... and more importantly, R* didn't give me an explanation at all.. So this time I played extremely careful and aware of these stuff... For sure nothing like that happened but still got banned... At the same time, I read that some accounts were banned even from the tutorial phase... So that might be impossible..

Money drop should not be a reason for banning. R* always say they will remove it automatically.

 

Normally only mod menu user will get banned. That's why current gen console is safe at the moment.

There are some forum posts indicating that. If you have subscribed to the R* newswire, you can receive an email telling you that you are banned - without logging in.

I'll stay offline until further notice. Not risking anything.No mail from R* in my inbox yet.

HI all, new forum member here.

 

I've been hit by the recent ban wave as well and it's rather annoying.

 

I just bought the game mid-February on Steam and since then logged over 200 hours in the SP campaign and only recently started my online "career". It took me quite a while to grind out "that first million" and I was just starting to have some real fun after having purchased my first property (a clubhouse) and a weed farm and had just reached level 40 last Thursday or perhaps Friday.

 

Logged on Saturday only to see that my account has been suspended for 30 days and (according to my socialclub profile) my account has been zeroed. I can assure anyone that I don't cheat. My Steam account is at good standing, I've never received a ban or suspension in any game and tbh, with 43 I'm past the age where I have to replace a lack of skill with scripts.

 

I've been following the drama all weekend across reddit, twitter and co and I really hope that R* will do the right thing here and reverse their bans (even if this will remove suspension for people who deserved getting banned, number of wrongly banned people outweighs the cheaters in this case imho).

 

Either way, just felt like ranting about my ban again.. so here I am. Good news, the suspension made me sign up to this forum.

The stupid part is that I've literally spend the last two days following this mess while trying to get my account sorted out. Zero progress until now just because my account got suspended and wiped for no apparent reason. It's rather annoying and I'm now happy that I didn't purchase the enterprise starter pack. I was playing with the idea some time last week but then decided to grind out the money instead.

Haven't been on since Thursday, and I'm dreading logging in tonight. Thing is I'm not sure if I checked in with the clean install or the one with the (albeit outdated and non-functional) Scripthook. None of the mods loaded, so I'm clinging to that until I get home from work.

Is there any indication that this particular banwave even targeted modders at all? The impression I'm under having sifted thru various forums is that any actual cheaters caught up in this seem to have been snared just a function of the big numbers involved. A flyover inspection of the cheaters forums I'm aware of revealed nothing. Can someone who has knowledge about that world perhaps provide insight?

Apparently so. I've been following this subreddit over the weekend and the best news so far was that R* support agents have apparently changed their narrative from "all bans are final and can't be appealed" to "we're aware of the issue and investigating it". Status of my ticked from the 25th changed from new to open today but that's all.

I think that whatever triggered the bans has been fixed. Most tweets and posts on reddit were posted over the weekend.

I would prefer continuing playing with cheaters than playing with fear of anticheat system. Cheaters seems nice ppl compared to R* staff. At least you can talk to them, or leave to another session. XD

most cheaters suck, cant win a race without exploding your car, or magicly lapping you etc. so no, i rather risk a ban then waste time going against modders abusing the game.

 

its weird, i have had moneydrops dropped on me, willingly and unwillingly. lets be fair, free money is hard te resist.

 

ive also been part of heist reset glitchs, never the one doing it, but profiting from it, so seeing all these bans i expected to be one of them. But the worst thing they did, was took the dropped money away. So my account isnt spotless but apparantly clean enough to not get banned.
