Doing something to free the unjustly banned

Update: It has begun all over again. Masses of people getting banned - some before they've even finished the game's tutorial.

 

Last time some people were unbanned, so hopefully the same can happen this time if we make enough noise. Please upvote this thread on the support site. There has been a mass banning of players, with all of their progress being wiped entirely.

 

Normally you might say this is good news - less cheaters; less people sabotaging the game, etc. The only problem - and it is a major problem - is that something has gone badly wrong, and large numbers of innocent, squeaky-clean players have been banned.

 

From grinding cargo and gunrunning work, to seeing everything they've ever done in the game wiped away ... It's not a good way to start a GTA session, and there's no telling who'll be next.

 

 

Make no mistake about it - this is dire. We're all still not sure just what is going on - only that plenty of people (who've been confirmed through numerous sources and stats to be legitimate) are now banned and have lost everything.

 

No one knows for sure that this isn't going to hit console players either ...

 

What I'm saying is, this is something we should all be concerned about. There's no telling who'll get struck down next.

 

Now, what can we do in the mean time? Well, we have to push the issue. We need the news of this to spread far and wide, from friends, to small youtubers, to big youtubers, to news sites - everywhere. It needs to be sung from the rooftops.

If you ask me, we should keep this up for around a week - then, if Rockstar has failed to restore players rightful progress, or at least provided sufficient answers to just what is going on, we should then up the heat by leaving them overwhelmingly negative reviews.

 

Now, we're not aiming to hurt Rockstar or Take Two yet. We just want answers. Review-spamming - that should be held back in the event that they force our hand, if you ask me.

 

If they do force our hand, however, I'll update this with links to places we can review the game, and spread the call to downvote it into oblivion.

 

So, we want answers Rockstar. This isn't an acceptable way to treat long-time customers.

It's sad to say that I'm not shocked that this is PC specific. Rockstar have, and always will struggle to keep GTA Online PC a fair and even environment free of mod menus. It's unfortunate too, as I bought GTA on PC a long time ago and nevery play online due to the overly large chance of getting banned for something you have no control over.

The bans are really unfair.

It's like a death sentence you can't roll back from. Cheaters should get the death penalty when properly convicted. But if the jury finds you not-guilty you should get your old life back.

to put it in a less stupid way: make a proper department to review bans. I think 1-2 weeks inactivity is better than 30day ban and character wipe.

 

So, they changed their ban policy from "7-day, 30-day, permanent" to "Wipe & 30 days and Wipe and permanent" and they can change it again.

Don't have the sh*tty anti-cheat ban you. Get it to a proper department so they can review what happened to you.

I notice after an update, Rockstar waits a week or two before conducting a ban wave. They give us that week to buy new content, enjoy it for the week, then ban and wipe everything. Savages.

 

I'll support in any way I can because I believe many of the victims are innocent and clean, especially veterans to this forum. I really do feel awful for the people who put 4 years into building a character and playing fair, just to be stripped down to nothing but the Lamar pistol. If nothing is done for the innocent, they will likely just resort to the dark side if they ever do decide to return to Los Santos, which shows the irony in this situation. Rockstar went the worst way about this and I do hope they acknowledge, admit, and correct their mistake, plus compensation.

Thanks, I appreciate it I haven't even been affected, but I've seen people I would personally vouch for getting banned, and losing everything.

This could probably work. People who've been banned are bound to check this out, so they can be asked for details, guided into doing the right actions, etc.

I was just joking, even though it's not a good time to making jokes. I'm not liking these bans that were made. This is just some pure BS. And I'm afraid it'll possibly also come to Consoles as well.

This relates to PC players, not those of us who are on console. There are obviously serious problems with the anti-cheat; people have reported being banned after only a couple of hours of game play. R*'s handling of this situation has been ridiculous; no answers on why said people were banned and no chances to appeal or explain.

 

Something definitely needs to be done.

First of all, who is "you"? I haven't been banned.

 

Once you're the next on the list, maybe you can get onboard. Until then, if you don't have anything to contribute ... Uh, meh?

 

It is always someone else before it's you. If you're smart, you put a stop to it while it's just affecting others instead of you. If you're dumb, and selfish, you let it happen to you before doing anything.

My short response is that you don't get banned for doing nothing wrong. Period. Ever. Forever. Always.

No, of course. There has never been an occasion in human history where someone has been wrongfully punished. I thought there had, but I must just be higher up in the clouds than a GTA Online loading screen.

 

This isn't a thread to debate what has already been seen to be true. It's a thread for those who've seen it to do something about it. If it offends you, you have no need to read it.

If you don't violate the Terms of Service you won't get banned it's real simple.

 

No one gets banned for "no reason" if you really did then submit a ticket and prove Rockstar otherwise.

Even if the guy was banned justly and tricked the whole forum (I would not refuse this possibility)... like it was mentioned in the original post

I've been inclined in the past to question the honesty of single players claiming to have been unjustly banned. But this is lots and lots of players all at once. A handful here and many more on Reddit. They're not lying, not all of them anyway. Rockstar messed up. This has my full support.
