Non justified banning is happening !

One very small part of me hopes that I get banned, maybe I can kick my nearly-500 pound ass in gear and lose some damn weight if I don't have this game calling my name lol

 

But the other 99% of me is going to be very very pissed if he is banned. It's sad that these mod menus are even a thing. I remember playing goldeneye 007 on the wii, I was never worrying constantly about my rank being changed and then banned. Remember how I said it sucked that you were always scared of dying when you're in a savage or a tank because of their glass armor? Well, I'm scared to even play the game because what's the point if I can lose it all because some asshole at cockstar headquarters allowed their broken system to ban me?

Level 550 here started to play in april 2015 , so level 944 if he started on ps3/x360 (september 2013) it's totally legit

It depends on how you play it. If you are hanging around in freeroam doing some PvP maybe - then your rank will remain low.

 

I'm playing on PC since it's release. Rank 606. I'm doing VIP work a lot, my primary target is money but it gives a lot of RP as well (I don't care about RP, consider it as a side effect).

Playing around 1-2 hours after work.

Can we please stop this moronic attitude of "lulz you da high level you so must've cheated".. It is perfectly feasible for someone to have such a high level when you consider the game has been out for 2 years (plus someone may have transferred the character over from the consoles.

 

It really does look like something has gone wrong with this ban wave. I know several people that have received bans today. I am 100% certain they have not used mods, have not cheated and in no way have broken the rules. These are high level people that have poured thousands of hours into the game, helping others and trying to make online a great place to be but now they have been banned through no fault of their own.

 

Rockstars whole banning policy is draconian and heavy handed, the fact there is no "right to appeal" makes this system repulsive. But hey lets keep parroting "lulz no dude you totaly must've cheated cos automated systems work perfectly correctly 100% of the time and never make mistakes".

It's a bit like some senior people at R*/Take2 have had a serious melt down and hit panic mode big style. OK we had a bit of a big problem with cheating online, but anyone in the know could see shutting down ForceHax and a couple of other culprits would solve the worst of the problems.

 

What's happened - they swept up Open IV in the tool ban, now it looks like they are sweeping innocent gamers up in the player ban.

 

The only slice of optimism I can offer for Darth or anyone involved is it looked like they reversed the Open IV decision. Maybe some people will get some sort of correction/compensation if not their full character back.

 

I would suggest if you have evidence of hours played, total rank and money earned it would help to build a case that enough hours had been sunk in the game to legitimately earn your status. It's then just a question of trying to get past the tier 1 "computer says no" agents in the outsourced technical support lines and onto someone at R* who might care and use their initiative.

 

This is every bit as serious from a PR perspective as the Open IV debacle for R*, if not more so. Do I want to invest significant time in a game if I might wind up with and unjustified ban? A lot of people could be put off by this for good. I've dodged the raining money bags so far - partially due to judgement but possibly also a bit of good fortune too (most recently thanks to Gaffa's PSA and info from other contributors there. The irony is Darth avoided public sessions I believe at this time due to exactly this sort of risk).

Do you only hang out in freeroam and kill other players and only play 12 hours a month? My characters are relatively low in RP for a day-1 player (415 and 260-something) and 20 of those 415 were just from playing during the double-rewards for contact missions a month or so ago. There aren't that many ways to play Online and avoid RP beyond only staying in freeroam and a keep clear of game modes.

I see a patern here, mostly on pc (dont know any cases on consoles or atleast in xone), people with high levels or long time players that never had done something illegal, and i saw people complaning about the anti-cheat sistem. Maybe there is the problem, it punishes and bans people automaticly when it detects a cheat. Probably the sistem is broke on pc and needs a fix because the amount of legit players that got banned for uknown reasons makes me think its broke. Or if get the conspiracion point maybe is the revenge from rockstar for all the complaints on pc about the openIV. Anyway if something is broke it will not be fixed until tomorrow, i higly doubt they would start working on a sunday, and even more in a pc issue (knowing how much "love" rockstar has for pc)

I think this is your issue, Darth. Sorry, mate but "pretty much" reporting money drops is not the same as 'actually' reporting it. Did you fully report this money and have it wiped by Rockstar support? If you did then you're OK and have a case to present. Otherwise you're going to have to bit the bullet I'm afraid and accept the account reset.

 

The account suspension doesn't seem too bad - a month, but the data wipe is really really harsh. Unbelievably harsh. Sorry!

 

I did report by sending tickets at rockstar support....but yes again, i think there might have been a few occasions were i just ridded myself of the money by suiciding myself till it was gone.

 

Bro, you should of made a 2nd character, gone to the strip club so you could withdraw as much cash as possible and then deleted the character. Can't say it helped my transfer abilities for account 1 but it did protect it from banning. Not that it means sh*t because all i can do is play on ps3 with it, which i haven't done sine the ps4 replaced it.

RIght back at ya Jimbatron, warms my heart to see an old reg still around. It has been an absolutely gut wrenching day for me. I have seen at least 4 of my very good friends get hit by this ban wave. I play with these guys regularly every day and have done so for the past two or more years. They are all high levels and I am 100% absolutely certain they have not cheated in any way. We regularly would take lower levels in and help them out even forsaken our cuts at the end to give a lower level a bit of a boost up. These are good people, the kind of people we want in gta online, the kind of people Rockstar should want in gta online. But nope the all seeing ban bot rules they cheated so they lose everything. I honestly don't see how anyone can defend this.

5hit that's awful. In some ways though perhaps if a lot of people are affected (and it's beginning to sound like it) then they'll have to address this if it becomes clear a faulty banwave algorithm is responsible.

 

As I I think we've both said above in so many words, an auto 30 day ban is one thing - you have a chance to review and correct that if there is a mistake. A character wipe with no right to reply is utter madness.

 

You have to ask what this is actually trying to achieve anyway? Cheaters won't care about a character wipe - they never worked for the progress anyway.

 

EDIT - BTW, for people saying "there must be a reason for everyone who gets a ban" - I don't know Darth well but we did a few Pac Stds together launched from an invite only lobby. And why were we in invite only - because that's when the ForceHax cheaters were running rampant, and those of us there were trying to avoid our stats getting f*cked up by remote rank manipulation and cash injections. You really couldn't make up irony like this. Darth's a good player who can smash through Pac Std in no time. I had no reason to doubt his credentials. Certain this is a flaw in the ban-wave algorithm.

I would say if someone that hasnt made anything bad, then he has nothing to hide, stats should prove that and calling rockstar support would hopefully solve the problem. On the other hand, players that have made something illegal, they cant prove they are legit and even calling them wouldnt solve anything, after looking the stats, they would be rejected.

No idea why, when I got banned this morning, I was 100% certain it was because of false reports, as the day went by, reading other posts, lot of player complaint, I'm thinking now it's a massive crap in rockstar automatic ban detection system, I know for a fact I never cheated, and yet I'm banned.

I don't know why they do it, but I can confirm that they are doing that. I swear (of course you won't believe me) that I never used any hack or mod. I am legit lvl 305 and had about 50 millions on my bank account. The only "glitch" I used was suspending GTA via task manager to create an empty session.

You answered your own question here. Most people who are banned, are banned for legitimate reasons. "I didn't do it" doesn't cut it.As much as I despise cheaters, there is no way to ignore that something seems off on the current ban wave. Several long time regulars on gtaforums got hit.

 

After the their "flawless anti-cheat" made Discord users eat a free ban last year, there is no way to agree to the hive minded consensus "guilty until proven innocent" that is R* current unofficial policy on bans.
