What happens to GTAO when RDR2 is released?

How many of you guys will be ditching GTAO for RDR2 when it comes out? Do you think R* will still keep releasing DLC for GTAO when RDR2 is out? Surely there comes a cut off point for R* to start focusing on the next GTA or the new RDR in terms of DLC and things like that or am I mistaken and that they have many different teams working on different games?

I probably won't be getting RDR2 due to this whole OpenIV clusterf*ck, but I'm guessing that GTAO will still be updated but with longer waiting periods in between. RDR2 will probably get updated somewhat regularly depending on how big its playerbase gets.

Well the last RDR was a huge success despite online being pretty limited. I think if the online setup is similar to GTA then it will be a huge success again. I wonder if they will introduce heists for RDR.

I hope it still remains popular. With just under a year until RDR2 is released I don't want to continue playing GTAO until then if the game will just become less popular and die.

There won't be another GTA for a minimum of 3-4 more years. Guaranteed. It will continue to thrive.

I won't be playing RDR2 cause it's not on PC lol. Even if it did come to PC I would wait until they confirmed SP DLC is coming because I don't want to pay $60 for a game that only gets Online content again.

They said they will drop support of GTA:O when it releases I heard.

Source please?

Nothing will happen to gtao. It's highly unlikely that rdr2 is gonna make them anywhere near as much money as gtao. They'd be dumb if they'd drop gtao for rdr2.

Never understand why R* would not bring it out for PC.

Probably not as much money made as GTAO but still a considerable amount given how many people loved the previous RDR. If they have any brains they will continue to update both games and maximise revenue.

r fa**ot said that rdr2 will come to pc, and all his leaks regarding bikers and import export were accurate and everything came true.

I mean yeah, rdr2 will make them a lot of money, but as i said, nowherea near as much. If they'd stop updating gtao once that game comes out, they'd lose their main source of income.

Still going to Play GTAO, cause RDR was boring as hell and RDR2 is going to be about the same if not more so....though I bet the main guy is going to die lol.

Tbh, I don't give a rodent's a.. about horses... I ain't purchasing that game. Period...

And wrt GTA online... It'll continue for quite a few more years. There's still a huge cash-inflow and updates keep coming (perhaps spread apart further and longer intervals between dripfed content,...). But I'm uncertain if I'll still continu playing for the next few years. I like this game alot, spent HUGE amounts of time and fun in it (albeit mostly in solo public sessions the last few months) but I feel I'm being forced to play under conditions that I don't perceive as fun to me... I'm a collector and like to earn my stuff (legit). That's what gives me fun. So for the future, I'm looking at other games, where I can fill up that collecting/earning vibe, without the grieving/cheating and timeconsuming retaliation that's more and more forced upon all players. Some like that and to each their own, but I'm not one of those...

So, GTA online WILL co-exist with RDR2. It's a different niche. I'm curious what the Benz will create. If that arrives and there's no new GTA-successor, it's then and there that GTA-online will dry out... But not by horses and chrome peacemakers...

Well the last RDR was a huge success despite online being pretty limited.

Journal had tons of challenges such as hunting, flower picking, gun challenges. There was also various game modes such as horse racing and many deathmatch variants. Gang hideouts at double XP would bring everyone together. I wouldn't really call that limited seeing you could do more than GTA:O in some ways. If they bring that back plus GTA:O's ownership angle then it could be huge.

GTA will always be bigger than RDR and will always be R* biggest attraction. Stamp a price tag on it and it's now their biggest money-maker. I'm convinced they'll roll out content for both games at the same time.

I meant limited in comparison to GTAO. We didn't have heists, houses etc.

I'm getting RDR2 immediately, that said, this game has shown me lots of negatives I can agree with, some affecting me more than others...

IMO, RDR2'S story mode will be absolutely enjoyable... Really looking forward to the potential the map has, the hunting and stark atmosphere, the graphics look very impressive indeed, mission potential too...

However, after GTA, I may not ever play online, there was parts I enjoyed so much with GTA:O, the actual game for sure, love it, but so much bad, starting with the cheating, all the way to the players themselves... I've had over 3 years of fun, yeah, but at the cosy of development, to line very greedy people's pockets that show so little care for their fans, moreish, the original ones that made this company what it is... And it's clear R*/Take Two have a huge hard-on to STOP solo players online too...

I don't damn well care, I'm not here to scrap over such little always, sometimes I want to just coast, plod or have a session in peace, BUT FULLY ACCESS this game, that I potentially SPENT REAL MONEY to f*cking play...

3 years of hearing innocents being banned WITHOUT appeal or even a reason, so much abuse has been thrown my way, so many insults about me and my family, even here has enhanced some of that too, this whole games dark side cannot be underestimated at all. So much bullying, so many groups out the looking to really f*ck ya game up too...

Nope, I will never succumb to all this bollocks ever again, offline, maybe, certainly will try as R* for me have always delivered a great story, but if RDR2 allow don't me to play in peace and there are MAJOR changes, nope, they'll lose me too...

There's just too much good entertainment available, TV, movies and games, ok GTA can't be beaten, yet...

But RDR ain't GTA, it's niche still, GTA went commercially huge... Just like WWE, once they beat the competition away, competition that forced their creativity, flair and made it unmissable...

But now, well, like WWE, we stay in hope, but the more pay walls and CLEAR signs the game has changed, well, look at WWE again...

Roman-f*cking-Reigns, give me a break man...

Says it all...

*edited for spelling, my mobile auto speller is ridiculous.

They said, that they will still support GTA:O for some period of time. Im not sure how is it going to look tho.
And i guess i wont ditch GTA:O just because of RDR2, im not an RDR fan.

Nothing. As long as GTAO stays profitable there will continue to be new content. My best friend since childhood and partner in crime recently started playing GTAO, so i definitely won't be going anywhere anytime soon..

The OpenIV situation has been resolved hasn't it?

Rockstar stood up against TakeTwo.

So I really don't see the point of missing out on another most probably great game.

But to each his own I guess.

The same thing that happened to GTA 4's multiplayer when GTA 5 was released, aka it will still be running but it's probable part of the playerbase will move on.
