Reduced enjoyment since Gunrunning update - your thoughts?

# The ramped up number of NPCs during arms collection and delivery missions - increasing difficulty.

Sometimes you have to wade through literally dozens (hundreds?) of NPCs, depending on the mission. This is increases the probability of mission fail, the likelihood of other people interfering with your mission because of the extra time it can take, and the extra amount of ammo and resources which you now need to use. Every aspect of these missions is tweaked to make it a little bit more difficult and potentially fail.

And let's not forget the reduced 15 minute time window for sell missions!

Every time I do one of these missions, it's hilarious that the NPCs just throw themselves at you, crash into everything, guns nonstop blazing, and I'm sitting there in whatever armored car I'm using thinking "Wow, they would've shredded me if it wasn't for this car's armor"

(I'm usually using my DoD or my halftrack when it comes to resupplying, DoD if I need speed and total bulletproofness, or halftrack if I need some firepower and am able to stop to fight them)

To negativ? No.

I am totally with you, I dont enjoy this dlc as much as I thought i would do. I actually enjoy grinding I/E that i did for the past 6 month and now went back to after just a week more than the whole gunrunning.

Mostly because of the huge paywall (someome who wants just the "new" guns has to buy a bunker and an moc for nearly 4 Million and do this whole research thing afterwards, that he maybe has no interest in), the long time it takes to unlock the research items (i started playing this dlc last saturday and right now i have only the rear moc guns and the aa trailer missiles unlocked) and going with that that you cant choose what you want to research (its my damn bunker, i pay these retards every day let me choose what they work on).

Inbefore someone says b&m, its not really b&m. I think this thread is more some sort of personal review.

The new missions are fun, atleast for now, its refreshing that you gather diffrent forms of supplys not just some stupid crate or bag but also vehicles or the railgun.

Most of the vehicles are also not that great and the fact that they are all PV (that you pay insurance for if you destroy an attacking vehicle is ridiculous) is also not that great because there is no new garagespace. Only the APC, the nightshark, the torero, the cheetah classic and the weaponized tampa (that i wont buy because of the garagespace issue) are intersting for me. The rest not.

I dont know. I cant say that i like this dlc and i cant say that i dont like it.

The little stuff like wearing the hood up without a mask or cap saves it a bit but not much.

4 or 5/10 for gunrunning

That opressor bike is extremely overpowered and its also the griefer's new favorite Toy, those missiles should be mission exclusives in my opinion, for me that bike is the only thing i would complain about this update

It's more bullsh*t, as usual, but I've been enjoying it somewhat. Mostly I enjoy the variety of the resupply missions, particularly those that allow you into interiors.

I can try! *Clears throat*

It uh... its free, don't play with the new stuff if you don't want to, the rocket bike isn't OP, nobody is forcing you to buy the bunker/moc, and uh, git gud

Lonely-Martin

Yes!!!... Man, I got about quarter way into this and just knew this is how I feel at the moment... TL:DR... A little miffed to say the least, even frustrated in places.

I agree with so much here... For me personally the real kicker is the solo public session issue, though, I've learned much recently, including the OpenIV thing... I get it, they want us to play together out there, with or against, but for me, after a session that was laiden with grief and false starts on a few jobs, I loved the CHOICE to be able to just slip away quietly and make a little cash up alone, and again, though I absolutely love co-op and teamwork, of which i ofen do, heists etc, Love 'em... But now it's either relying on friends being available to help either control a session, or at least help or back me up, you know? Now I have to either use regular MTU or change it to get away at times, like i said, I just enjoy a peaceful little spell alone, or I've had a bad day, or I don't have enough time to log in and do much with others that evening, but i may want to do my dailies and maybe top up a little here and there too...

But No, can't do that no more, no more flexibility, or choice in my own personal game for me... Don't get me wrong, there's just so many modes I love, but if my MTU is low and i get heist invites from a friend, to go to story, change it all, and come back is just laborious to me, and some just ain't patient enough to wait, they got loads of players to choose from to heist, so, as expected the usual 'full now' pops up in the corner, just after I've reloaded in again... FML... what a pain in the arse, you know???

And that has just sapped some of the real flavour out of it all for me in places... Yeah, at the moment I've got Gunrunning unlocks and cash to make back to keep mebusy, MC to do still too, but already I'm ready to just include the bunker work as a part of my usual bits and pieces through that massive, off-putting, time consuming research crap, and the actual business side of it, well, it's another coke/weed/meth/cash/ID biz ain't it... Just fell into place, IMO...

So now I'm ready to let research rot, do the odd job between stuff to refil/sell things and what-not, most of my buddies are still playing Gunrunning hard so as to make up the lost cash through fasttracking, that or they're idle and my messages sometimes don't get a response until I'm about to log off... And don't get me started on the whole 'show offline' thing... I fully get it, protect your lobby, but c'mon, am I supposed to text all my 'offline' friends each evening? Many use their PS4 for netflix with the Mrs. or their partners share the console and play other games too... When we're on together, it's gold, but many players add people for this or that, nothing long term, and often once they get what they want, heist done, sales made, they disappear into the distance to never be found again...

That's just this week alone...

This forums, with the solo public patches, that paywall/time waster, the recycling of heist/story missions, and the MC business model, more OP gimmicky toys for trolls/griefers to abuse the sh*t out of others with, and the u-turn on things like OpenIV, including some very questionable recent statments too, ther is so much negative coming from this one period of GTA:O, quite probably as gloomy as the old days when online itself was an almost disaster from the off...

Again, my love for this franchise should be known to longer term user here, and all these little, seeming greedy changes are so very frustrating at the moment, that often after just a little while online and bumping into the many stumbling blocks i mentioned above start up, I get bored and think, Hmmm, did I watch all of Arrow season 5???...

Not a slur on Arrow, me and the boy enjoy it, and I catch my daughter often looks when he takes his top off, lol... But f*ck! That says it all IMO... Spoler Alert: Dolph Lundgren, wow, what an ugly bastard, lol...

Jenkiii, Quick tip... When you've done you're resupplies/sales, if you're alone/able to return to friends session, or just using public in general, after you've done whatever as an MC/CEO, I often run just a quick 1 job playlist, often a contact mission myself afterwards, as the next time I start my MC or CEO, I don't get met with a utility bill unless the CEO/MC session last past 48 minutes... If that makes sense... Don't get me wrong, often I end up still paying, just not always, plus the extra CM cash is no bad thing, lol... But when I just need to do a quick run or two, the bills are avoidable a little... Might help some.

*edit, my spelling in this one is poor in places, my bad...

I've made about 2 million from the Bunker sales, and I'm never doing them again. Not unless there is a glitch that makes them give a lot of cash or they add more research, which I'm sure they'll do to try and scam more money out of people. They are not fun. They are like the biker businesses, which I also hated.

I'm going back to vehicle cargo. It's so much simpler.

All opinions are correct. Hence the definition. I am enjoying the bike and apc the most. The Tampa should have DOD armor IMO.

I have no real problems with the stuff on your list except for the elimination of empty sessions. That has really hurt my gaming.

The last three times I logged in I was unable to find any session not infected by jet jerks, and couldn't locate any friends to help me with sales, and remaining online to do missions or just goof off would keep increasing the chance of my bunker or MC businesses being raided, and defending a bunker raid solo is damn near impossible, so... I just logged off and watched Netflix.

Forcing GTA players into free-for-alls is alienating the casual gamer IMHO. After a long workday I'm not interested in subjecting myself to being sucker punched by no-skill jackasses firing homing missiles from 1,500 feet before they run off in search of another player in a defenseless position. It's not enjoyable, even a little bit.

All valid stuff. I'd also add that the insurance on armed vehicles is BS (both bullsh*t and bad sport lol).

So, destroying someone's cargo and wasting hours of their time in the process - that's something to be rewarded. Destroying the reversing APC coming right at you - that's unsporting and you should pay 20K? Or I'm in my Buzzard and some bike floats up to me spamming missiles - I'm unsporting for defending myself?

There are ways around it sure. But it's more the principal. I refuse to believe that was simply an oversight. It's just another way of losing money squeezed in.

I also think spawning these things right next to you is a bit much too. One of the big complaints anti-military vehicle people have is that they're too readily available, even just through Pegasus. That there should be cooldowns, or we should have to steal them, etc. Yet Rockstar's answer is to slap insurance bills on them and allow us to spawn them right next to us?

The insta-spawn endless NPCs are bullsh*t on a stick.

I want a fight, I want to use my weapons, sure... but the rate and number of enemies spawning makes me feel like i'm trying to steal the f*cking Crown Jewels or the Mona Lisa, not a random crate of weapons.

These guys must really be into their gun porn

Oh and that reminds me - the lack of new aircraft really ruined my experience. Too depressing.

Also the failure to do anything to non-jet aircraft to like, let them have any chance against explosive rounds.

Yeah I feel the same, I just can't get bored of I/E but Gunrunning has a lot of silly issues which made it very boring, I will list a few:

-The huge paywalls to get anything we want and have no reason to be there besides sucking your money dry: How come I cannot choose what item my lab rats should research? Why I can't customize the new guns and the weaponized vehicles in my bunker? Why fast-tracking is so expensive? Why do we to pay again to use the itens we unlocked via fast-tracking? Why we can't airlift vehicles used in sales but we can airlift the vehicles used in supply runs? Overall all the functions we have in the MOC could be able to be done in the bunker, and I thought the MOC was going to actually be a Mobile Operations Center, where we could manage and start supply runs or sales and manage ourban bunker from there, be more time-efficient.

-There are only a handful of supply runs and sales scenarios, and they all were engineered to f*ck with lone wolfs, you can't make any full sale of a value past $250000 as you will get 2 vehicles and only 15 minutes, Overall they are sort of fun to play but very repetitive, there'should only so many times I can steal the railgun or get set on fire by flares from the altruists before getting bored.

-The weaponized vehicles are a pain to deal with, not because they are impossible to kill but because the insurance and Bad Sports bullsh*t assigned with them is ridiculous, they either should have been Pegasus or Special Vehicles.

-These new weaponized vehicles made the Special Vehicles redundant and useless:

Why buy that weak POS Phantom Wedge when I can buy the Phantom Custom with a bare bones MOC, and tune it up to make it faster, handle better and be able to sustain MUCH more damage, and pay less?

Why buy that POS Rocket Voltic or the Ruiner 2000 if the Opressor is much more useful, faster and can be used in mission and has no 5 minutes cooldown BS.

The Weaponized Tampa decimates the Armoured Boxville.

Ramp car was never useful to begin with.

The APC throughoutly HUMILIATES the Blazer Aqua and the Technical Aqua.

I am actually enjoying this DLC more than I thought I would. What you are feeling now is how I felt when Further Finance & Felony dropped. How the crate system was handled was a missed opportunity to make decent money and have a lot of fun collecting. When I learned how the bunker and MOC system worked, I was not the least surprised. I was expecting it to be similar to what it actually is.

For me, since they patched the solo lobby glitch, I don't even play anymore. I used to play everyday and now I haven't touched the game in days and probably won't until my crew asks me to.

In regards to the ridiculous NPCs, what bothers me most is the way they act so wreckless and suicidal. They will happily run into bullets or out in front of traffic just to get as many bullets into you as possible.

I was already on my way out. This update changes nothing. More military stuff, more PEWPEWPEWPEW garbage along with the new "fast track" system. Translation, they'll make you wait weeks to get the goods otherwise pay up an buy those cash cards. Cash grab with paywalls indeed. It's awful.

It was a fun run, great times in 2013-14. Now, I just don't connect with what R* has done and where they're going.

Nice thread Jenkiiii. We've watched over the last few years the transition of a gaming franchise to shameless tool to bilk you of money in-game AND real life.

Reuse the same mechanics - edgelords and kiddies will praise them thusly and keep drinking the piss flavored cool aid. Sad how GTA has de-evolved without The Benz.

Cheers.

1. Fast tracking and paying again to get what you want is depressing.

2. The npcs try too hard.

3. Despite the sign saying "airbase bunker", the lack of aircraft drained me when I went to warstock. Maybe a aviation update will come who the hell knows, and a certain chopper may finally surface.

4. Out of all the AA junk they give you, a heavy sniper is the true Jet Killer, the best of Rockstar Logic. The SAM doesnt lock onto vehicles (LOL), other AA's don't even aim all the way up.

5. I better not see anymore threads complaining about how Jets hurt like your creepy uncle lol, those bikes and explosive bullets are troller heaven. Good luck.

6. Im convinced Rockstar hates choppers.

Hi All,

Just about everyone enjoys a new update and all the new toys and activities it brings, but that was ten days ago and I'd like to discuss some views since then.

Rockstar have given us a number of new ways to play the game, and I appreciate that, but they've also incorporated lots of sneaky tactics to make it work better for them, and not for us.

Here goes:

# The ability to use your Bunker as an MC President (not just VIP/CEO). That versatility seems great at first, but what it really means is having 7-30k sucked off in costs every 48 minutes for your MC businesses in addition to the 10k +/- for the cost of your bunker operations. So you have to be really selective about what you're doing in freemode now, or you'll have a 20-40k debit every 24 hours of game-play if you're not grinding.

# Hidden costs behind research pay walls.

Most people can't wait the days and weeks and months it takes for research to complete, so will pay in-game cash to fast-track research, one after another, until they finally get their desired item. That's not so bad, but after the item is unlocked, this item still has to be purchased anyway. People are waiting days and weeks and still paying 200k+ for a gun barrel on top of that!

# The inability to easily find solo lobbies using playlist restart/quit on XB1 (now patched) and other platforms. Everything you do is now in heavily-populated lobbies, forcing you to sell low and under time pressure, or find associates to help you (who do not get paid as much as you do), increasing probability of fail and reducing payouts.

# Take-Two's cease and desist policy against mod-menu abusers of good applications like OpenIV, instead of focusing their efforts on cleaning up their own pseudo-servers, and preventing hackers from getting in, they instead focus on third-party developers in order to embarrass and get their 'message across'. It doesn't resolve anything in the long-term, and the cheats will be back stronger than ever before. Just leave these people alone, Rockstar, and focus on getting your own shoddy servers organised.

That was a moan!

Could this be Rockstar's last-ditch effort to glean as many resources out of the community as possible before they stop updates altogether? I don't know, and I think we will carry on getting updates, but each update is draining more and more resources out of the community, WITH prejudice. Any let's face it, bunker or no bunker, you can't make any more cash per day/hour than you did before.

What are your thoughts? Am I being too negative or are these reasonable thoughts and concerns?

Cheers!

I get your point but let me point something here too, of course this is just my opinion with my poor English so bear with me haha.

For the first one, I do agree that the taxes are a bit ridiculous (paying 30k here for the businesses as i have all of them) but then it doesn't mean that they've created that to work that way, I have a friend who owns an MC with no businesses and a bunker, so he doesn't pay the businesses taxes, i'm sure many are doing the same thing.

Secondly, you can wait it the research time or you can pay for it, while it's a huge amount that you're paying for the unlock, it is still an option and not forced on you, you can either wait it out, or you can buy it if you have the money for it, as long as you have the option, it's not that much of a problem.

(what i do hate is that you don't the option to choose what you are researching, so that randomness is annoying)

For your third point, I think you're correct about that one, the whole "selling in public lobbies" concept is a bit broken and has to be redone differently in my opinion.

Finally, in case you didn't see it, they've released a statement today about the current situation with mods.

Doing research normally to unlock everything is painstakingly slow though. Like, free-to-play mobile game levels of slow. That and the fact you can't choose the next research project, having to go through dozens of useless upgrades, makes the whole bunker thing so difficult to enjoy. There's very little enjoyment in waiting out a research project for a godawful looking livery on a weapon or vehicle.

Of the 45 upgrades, only around a dozen of them are decently useful and/or enjoyable. That means that I only consider about 30% of that 10 million in fast tracking costs to have proved useful. That's nowhere near enough to make me regularly play GTAO. I only play it once every 3 or 4 days when friends want to now. GR just isn't as enjoyable, neither is it anywhere near as profitable, as vehicle cargo is.
